  1. I thought the red meant Extreme Db's.

Gonna have all 4 in by the Gibraltar Show?

    Heh

    extreme DB's

I guess I could see where it would be easy to think that if your looking at the video of perillo's practice run

    Got all four right now

the slaves didn't like being in the hatch and exposed to 160/170's everyday which was a given

(the port was a little over a 170 when i put the termlab in it with all four amps in)

I have to bring the slaves up front today.

  2. It's only 10 cubes. Lol.

It is way less then that after all the resin inside it and steel bracing I put in.

It was either keeping the box in the backseat (pretty much a wall)

or getting it down to the window line and bringing it into the hatch to makup for airspace.

This was an older box i had to put in sideways just to fit it. With 2000 watts on two eclipse sw9152s (the efficient version of the titaniums) it blew 151's on 43hz

you guys can rip on this box all you want but if you heard it you would forget how it looked.

  3. just like any amp though, that 149 dont come off one amp unless its in the right hands......forget the bassrace score and start times, couldnt be less interested....im lookin at a 149.5 with 3,000 watts, that is fuckin GREAT!

Since I started strengthening a few things in the car and hushmatting I have noticed that I have around 2 db of gain with the windows down or a door open. My score used to never change before I added the deadening and welded a few weak spots on the hatch. With the small changes I have made to the vehicle it can be easily determined that it needs slightly more port area to create that even pressure in the car (when your score doesn't change or only goes up with the car sealed up)

    Which will be added soon!

  4. Yeah, but you red lighted...

I explained this before in another post

The background of my score would be lit up red if I red lighted. Bassrace starts on set and Db Drag does as well. I can just time to mic to point where I am almost at full SPL or damn close off the line everytime.

According to some west coast guys I guess they have changed when the mic starts now. Sams is still the same....

Heres an example of a red light so you can see what it looks like.

bobs second run the background is lit red

Each fun it its own way (mostly fun for me). I had to make a decision of what side shows to offer for this year. With some input from Mike at Maxxsonics, a HUGE supporter of SPLMAX, we have come up with a nice selection of side shows for this year:

    NEW FOR 2008

    WIN JOHN's (Studley) MONEY

8 contestants will compete for a chance to win John;s money. Contestants will be placed in an isolation chamber (SPL vehicle playing PARDY LIKE A ROCK STAR). 1 contestant at a time will be removed from the isolation chamber. The contestant will have to answer 10 questions in 30 seconds. The contestant who can answer the most questions in the fastest time will have the oppurtunity to compete against John for the prize money.

    FEATURED EVENT

What happens when you combine car stereo competitions and the ever popular karaoke (definition 1. - death by singing; definition 2 - a form of entertainment in which members of the public sing well-known songs over a prerecorded backing tape [Japanese kara empty + okesutora orchestra] ),

you getSPLMAX KAR KARAOKE. SPLMAX though its advanced technology department has constructed the most awesome piece of karaoke equipment since the invention of nickel beer night.

SPLMAX kar karaoke is a competition to see who can sing through their own car stereo system.

The SPLMAX kar karaoke machine connects directly to the car stereo system through the vehicles antenna system. The competitor chooses one of the eight songs on the kar karaoke CD. The competitor opens his door, turns on his stereo and hits play. What happens next is either beautiful or scary. The competitor or team of competitors sings into the microphone (s). The kar karaoke machine mixes the vocals and the music and the competitors vehicle plays the music. The better the car stereo the better the sound. The better singer results in the better sound.

Saturday May 24th a Mountaineer Resort Casino will be an officially sanctioned SPLMAX Kar Karaoke competiton

    Return of SPLMAX JEEPORDEE

This exciting team competition is an all time favorite. 5 teams answer easy questions.

Hell yea TEAM BALDMAN ON THE MIIIIIIIC

I am gonna upload that shit right now!!

  6. he did 149.9 with 5 cars in the class. I am pritty sure steve and adam are not going for the cup this year. I am going to miss 2 of the shows because of vacation. so I am not sure how I will be able to make them up. I hope I will but I dont think it will happen.

WITH ONE KICKER 12 IN THE TRUNK STILL???????

    INSANITY :)

    Good job Mike!

Was it a bit smelly in your car after those last few runs? haha

  7. Quik little vid of my new setup right afte rit got done. The amps just got installed 5 min before the vid was taken, so i didnt have it up to high B) Rember this is a trunk setup so its not bad for what it is

When I was filming that your lower bumper moves like crazy (the camera didn't show it too well)

For anyone who wants my version of the song in this video here is the link to download it from me.

Good for a trunk car that is deadened this much. Over a 146 legal in a trunk with the port area peaking on 43hz.

  8. There were two series of these woofers. The standard line was the SW9102 (10") SW9122 (12") SW9152 (15") no 18 in this line besides the set that one guy had custom built awhile ago (the set of TI 18s that were all over the forums)

Those also had the Pro coil but they were in a DVC format I think

The TI pro line included the 18 which was eventually discontinued. The TI pro line had a much higher power handling and was much more expensive obviously because of the coil. After around a year of use most of the woofers started having surround problems (they were splitting all the way around)

Anyone who dogs on these woofers has obviously not had the proper experience with them. If used for daily they are badass woofers.

I owned two SW9152 series TI woofers (not TI pro)

These were hands down some of the best woofers I have ever used because it is a extremely linear woofer with low power handling (3" peak to peak). They also stayed very cool and could still handle a good amount of power.

My original enclosure for these 15's was around 8 cubic feet with less then 30 square inches of port.

Here is one vid of them

150's on my audiocontrol and between a 145-146 legal tuned to 25hz and peaking @ 30hz with less then 1000 watts on each sub.

These woofers actually shit on the 18's for ground pounding obviously because of how I had them ported and tuned.

I just wish they didn't have the surround problems otherwise I would be messing with the TI pro's right now

  9. good lookin' man.... ya i'll be down there soon for sure.. ive been dying to hear it, so im gonna make it a point to get my ass out there.. maybe i'll roll out with one of the locals to me "so its not so boring of a ride lol"... but ya, # programmed in the phone... i'll hit you up Mike.

    ok

  10. You know i was thinking the same shit, i don't want to build a wall because that shit sucks for daily driving, and i really don't have to much time working on so many cars, i was also thinking of doing the same style or even have the woofers firing foward, port back, what ya think?

I like to try different port areas and tuning very quickly and box also allows me to do that. Depending on how you set a wall up it is more perm. and usually a huge pain in the ass to change.

Providing that you don't mind having some small phasing issues that configuration is usually very effective for low frequencies. Everytime I have done it, it works damn well.

  11. looks good Mike.... i still gotta get my ass down there and hear that beast in person.... i think i still got your #, i'll hit ya up sometime....

and wow on the hatch lol.....

EDIT............. i still got the #, i just looked... i'll hit ya up bro..

    sounds good man

i don't know if you got my new number so I will pm it to you

  12. Cant you just slide it off?or twist it off, that's what i do,

i like how you used the hatch instead of a wall.

    Keep slammin!

Using a hatch as a loading chamber even in a low tuned application works to your benefit if done right. I wish more people would realize that before they go building walls their entire life. It's not going to move now, the whole thing has been deadened and filled and is at least three times heavier.

  13. Looks good, That sucks about your windshield, the same shit happen to my vdub,...now i always take down that damn rear view mirror.

    thanks

During a 49 run it decided to rip off the windshield and take a chunk of it with it

Next time I think I am just going to make my own mirror and bolt it to the metal where my dome light is...that might hold

Take a look at what happened to the hatch

    I just had it welded
