  1. Electronics can be tricky at times. Even the best of the best can fail or have flaws. There's chance to be taken with every connection. Sorry to hear about your sizziling circuitry man! :(

lol.. that is very true.... I'm gunna get pics very soon of the setup. nothing special at all, nothing loud... its a jeep though. its not supposed to be loud :P

  2. So i tightened up the power wire to the battery and re-grounded my amp and POOF, smokey smokey. have no clue why but I am going to be sending it back pretty damn soon. I re-hooked up my rockford p6001bd and it works like a charm. The wierd thing is... the planet audio amp still turns on and does the exact same thing it did before it blew, (power light turns on and thats it). hopefully I can exchange it for a diff amp

  3. Ok, i im going to pull my power cable over the next few days and see if there are any nicks or something in it. I will do the same to my RCA's. Im gunna get a better bolt for my ground connection, its hard to expain but that might be the reason. I might even bring it to a stereo shop to see what they think. I will keep you guys updated

  4. maybe one of ur fuses is blown have u checked all ur fuses on the amp and head unit and maybe check ur inline fuse near the battery if u have one ohh and is ur subs just not working or is it all ur speakers in ur vehicle?

I checked all of the fuses, had to replace the inline one, and im not sure why, but its in tact still. and its just my sub that isnt working, all of the other speakers are fine

  5. wow sounds like a dead amp to me lol

Oh yeah, and the thing i forgot to mention, is that I tried a KNOWN TO WORK rockford fosgate 6001bd amp and that didnt even turn on. I havent had this amp for long but it looks to me like the power LED on the planet audio amp is dimmer then normal

  6. Have a Planet Audio TT1250D. I used to run two 10's, with this amp and it hit pretty hard. But because I drive a jeep tj, i had to take out the back seats to fit em. So i decided to sell them and buy my buddies MTX 5510, which he gave me for 40 bucks CAD. I bought a .75 cubic ft sealed box that fit in my trunk (to spec) to put it in because I listen to mostly rock now and i dont need heavy bass. I removed my old set up, completely other then the wiring and put my back seat in. I plugged in everything again and now my amp does not put out any power from the speaker outs. The power light comes on, protection DOES NOT come on, I tried a lot of things. I tested the sub on my home audio setup to see if it was blown or not, it wasnt, and worked fine. I tried swapping out the inputs from the deck for those of an ipod, no luck. I have no idea wtf is going on. Everything turns on as normal, just no output from the sub. I also fooled around with the settings on the deck and on the amp to no avail. Anyone have a similar expierience that can offer incite as to what is going on?

  7. ouch, 695... i know to you guys that may not seem like much, but for a guy saving up for college it is. Are there any slightly less expensive alternatives? I was looking at some stuff from power acoustik, what do you guys think about them? possibly hifonics?

  8. I am about to purchase an Fi Audio BTL and I am just wondering what amp you guys would recommend for it. I know it can take a lot more then it is spec'd for. I am a little strapped for cash so I am going to order the stock version of the woofer unless there are any major reasons why I should upgrade certain parts of it. Anyways back to the amplifier part of the question, I am looking to spend no more then $300 ish on it... what do you guys recommend?

PS: Also, would you recommend running the amp at .7 or 1 ohm? (this would also alter the impedance option that i would select when ordering the sub)

  9. Being a previous home theater addict (before I started getting into car audio) I can appreciate James' setup, very nice bro.
