  1. I am thinking of bed lining my entire truck. Does anyone have any expierence with this? And what would be some pros and cons to doing it?
  2. Okay so here she is. This is a 2007 Ford F-150 in shadow grey and I've had it since I was 16. I dont have many pictures of before I did everything, but I wanted to get an overview type build log up and going. You can see what all equipment I have in my sig, but just in case that you can't here is all of it. Fi Q 15 High QTS option Rockford Fosgate T1500-1bdcp Rockford Fosgate T400-4ab Rockford Fosgate Punch 6.5 components Rockford Fosgate Punch 6x8 coaxials Pioneer AVH-P2300DVD Mechman 250 amp alternator XS Power D3400 Rockford Fosgate 1/0 wiring kit tons of SHCA wire That's all I can think about at the moment. Here is the headunit, and the SMD VM-1( one of my favorite things in the truck). Also what was the cigarette lighter is now a PAC LC-1. It's always funny to watch people's reactions when I'm turning what they think is the cigarette lighter and the bass gets louder. Here are the kill swiches for my system. Left to right is Mids&Highs, Sub, and then VM-1 Side shot of everything Here's a picture of the front doors with the 6.5 components in them. I'm not too particularly happy with how the doors turned out so I'll probably re-do them someday. Here's some pictures of the amps and the enclosure. The enclosure is 3.5 net cu. ft. sealed. Here is some under-the-hood shots. I know it's not particularly clean under the hood, but it's hard to keep it clean since I live in South Georgia and it's always either dry as hell or flooding rain. Probably some of the best money I've ever spent. Some more pictures of the outside, and some pictures next to my other baby. Well that's all I have for now. I'll post more pictures if I make any changes, but it's been this way for awhile so I probably wont make any changes soon. Also constructive criticism and help is always welcome, so feel free to comment and tell me if something doesn't look right or if there is a better way to do something. I won't get mad haha
  3. Starting my first big build ever. First things first, the box. I will posty more when I get farther along on the build,
  4. This build is expected to move slow. My plans for this build are to keep it small with a little bump and some clarity, but do it right and keep it clean. I want every thing done in a way that I can easily return the vehicle to factory stock. My thoughts on equipment Items I have Head unit - Alpine CDA-9887 Subwoofers - 2 x Massive Summo 64 vehicle deadening - KnuKonceptz Kno Knoise Sound Deadening Door Kit 14sq ft 80mil Rockford Fosgate T400.4 Items that I still need to work on acquiring Sub Amp - Undecided but I know it will be Rockford. Either a P300-1 or one of those new PBR500X1 they bothe do 300 rms @ 2ohm The Box - Still undecided on the design but have been sketching up a few ideas. Speaker wiring - I will be on the look out for some 12 gauge OFC Power and Ground - Although overkill I will be saving for the Rockford Fosgate RFK1D DUAL AMP 1/0 AWG Amplifier WIRING KIT Door Speakers - Still debating a nice set of components for the front doors. Kick panels - Wanting to do a Mid bass driver in one of those Q-form kick panels that they already make for the F-150 Still trying to recover financially from my wife's trimalleolar fracture on her left leg. Thankfully she did heal well and is back to work now. That being said I have been collecting a little here and a little there when ever I had some spare change. Now on with the build and a few pictures. 2004 F-150 Crew cab (toreador red) This truck was equipped with the factory subwoofer under the rear seats. You will also see that I got the really nice floor mats to protect the carpet . And the very first and only thing I have done so far is change out the factory radio for an Alpine CDA-9887.
  5. Okay so its time to start writing up a build log for my F-150. Gonna be a bit slow, but it will get there. It'll be going through "stages" but eventually it will be full awesomeness!! Working part-time (if you can even call it that) The victim: 2000 F-150 5.4 Extended Cab (111k miles on body, 40k on motor) Current Equip: -Pioneer HU Single DIN -Front Doors: MB Quart Discus 6.5 (Not amped) -Rear Doors: Infinity Reference 6x9 (Not amped) -Subwoofers: 2 Kicker CVR 12" -Seperate Boxes: Birch built to 2.9 cu ft tuned to 30hz (Built them for the eventual upgrade The Planned: -Pioneer Double Din or Alpine Single DIN (Dunno yet, not too worried) -Samsung Galaxy Tab3 Tablet -Crescendo PWX 6.5 all around -Crescendo Super Tweets -Sky High Car Audio -FIBERGLASS EVERYWHERE -Crescendo Amps -Fi SSD Subwoofers
  6. Hey all, I need some help on finding an upgraded alternator for my 2000 F-150. It has a 5.4L V8 in it and I need to put an alternator in that can get over 200amps. Any suggestions?
  7. So I told the neighbor's kid when he hits 16 and gets a car I'd build him a subwoofer box for it. Turns out the kid gets a crew cab F-150. It's a nice truck but doesn't leave me much room to work with. He isn't willing to give up any passenger space or do anything that can't be easily undone. Also his budget for amp and subs is only about $350. About the only place to put anything is under the rear bench seat. You have about 8" of vertical space under there at the front, but you only get 4" at the back. I figured I post on here what I came up with in case anyone is interested. For power I had him get a Audio Technix AT400.1. The enclosure I came up with is 1.5 cubes net tuned to 33 Hz and houses four Tang Band W6-1139SIF 6.5" subs. My performance goals for this are for it to be equivelent or better than a single ported 12" on the same power. I think this should be attainable since the four Tang Bands have more cone area than a 12" would, but we shall see when its all said and done. Its going to be a pretty mild system compared to what you usually see around here, but his expectations are fairly modest. Here is the enclosure design I settled on.: Everything is a pretty snug fit and it wish I could give it more net airspace but that's the best I could do with the space I had. Fortunately the drivers only eat up .028 cubes of space each. Getting started on the construction: Those Harbor Freight 90-degree clamps are worth every bit of the $10 they cost. Here I am tweaking the port tuning: I've found that the port length formulas don't always give accurate results for slot ports. I like accuracy so I cut my ports long, measure what the actual tuning is, and cut the port down till I get what I want. I started with 22" long ports on each side and ended up with 19.5" to get me right on 33 Hz. Just for reference both Torres and WinISD said the ports would need to be 24" to get the 33 Hz tuning I wanted. You can see why I don't trust their numbers. This is where I'm at now: I still have to cut and attach the front trim piece, round over everything, paint, and carpet. I'll post more pictures as I get it finished up.
