  1. New year, new things. This is a separate build log to show the remaining fab work that The Black Nasty will under go. Here is the equipment list of what is currently in the truck for those that don't know. Enclosure opinion

Ok so here is the deal..I have a Nissan 370z so room is well very scarce. Before my Nissan i was running a 15 inch FI BL. After i bought the Nissan i bought a 12 inch Fi Neo Q because i just thought there was no way in hell i would fit the 15 in that small hatch. Being used to the 15 i hated the Neo Q it just wasn't satisfying to me. So I sold that and bought a 12 inch Fi BL and it was definitely better, not quite what I was hoping for but it was better. Months later comes a bright sunny day and out of boredom i just go to measuring to see if there was any way possible to get that 15 in there and believe it or not i came up with a box that would fit. Flip side to that though it that is bare bones minimum and there in no free space to make the box any bigger. After port displacement and speaker displacement it was around 2.95 cubes. I threw the FI in there and let her rip and believe it or not it sounds pretty darn good. In this car the enclosure is directly behind my head so it's pretty loud. My Fi is getting old and i was looking to upgrade. It did well on my hifonics brutus 2400 but i recently upgraded to the soundqubed 2200 and it seems to be a bit much for the FI (this sub is like 5 years old and has been through hell). So i was looking at the hdc4 2000 watt sub as an replacement. Seems to be a perfect match for the 2200 amp but iv'e read that it's a stiff sub and i'm concerned that if the sub is as stiff as people have said then being in a smaller enclosure may be a problem. Have any of you tried one of these in such a small enclosure?
  3. I posted this on another site, seen this question asked alot, and I get alot of PMs about it here is what I tell everyone. Here is my input on what I have found to be optimum in sound and overall performance (SPL) for both the HDC3 and HDC4. Now there are several versions of both of these subs and I have tested countless hours with both. This is my recommendation, it isn't intended to be the end all BEST but will get you really damn close All recommendations are with alum coil D1 subs. Single sub setup, simply multiply for multi sub setups, works great in my testing. I have built multiple boxes with different tuning to test how these really performed and these were from my notes on what they really like to get loud. Hope this is helpful. My recommendation on Amp match is HDC3 on budget side SQ1200, loud side SQ2200, HDC4 budget side SQ2200, loud side SQ3500.

    dual hdc4 12 build help

I have a 16 ram 2500 mega cab diesel that I want to shake up. im a newb and am open to advice. this is my plan guys. 2 hdc4 12s on a4500 at 1ohm, 370amp alternator is already on its way to me, 2 d31 batts. enclosure 4.5 cubes after port and displacement, roughly 72 square inches of port to 40hz. I don't compete im just a bass head if you will. subs will be behind the back seat with the port out the top. I just like loud obnoxious bass. please give me some feedback of what you guys think about this build and if anyone has done a mega cab build before please let me know how it went and what you chose to go with. sorry if im missing anything
  5. Hello everyone! Oh yeah, I decided to go ahead and go big, and my brand new Soundqubed HDC4 18" just came in today, and since it is the first piece to my new build, i felt it necessary to begin my build log. If anyone has seen my mustang's build, this will be about a million times slower, due to both the much higher budget(; and the fact that the vehicle this is going in is still on it's way lol(hopefully a 08 suburban/tahoe model). But feeling this beast in my hands has me so damn pumped to begin, and this time around i'll have my father's shop to be working in, plus everything i've learned in my first build! So please as always give me any opinions that you believe will make this better, I always could use advice! Thank you everyone for the support! Here's the beast:
  6. I have 4 spare SoundQubed HDC4 motors for sale, these came out of my truck (The Black Nasty) were used to set/break USACI records and are great powerful motors for 4 inch coil. Asking $200 OBO each shipped in the US. Will ship priority flat rate insured. These were just used a few months ago in Texas for Bass Battles finals/Turkey Drag. These have two sets of tapped basket mounting holes for different baskets. Paypal accepted and preferred. (4) SoundQubed HDC4 motors $200 OBO shipped each Let me know if you got any questions.
  7. ok baiscly im wokring on a plan to build into my jeep, i just dropped the money on 4 15" HDC4 and 2 q1-4500d.1 amps... i was wondering what all would be needed in front stage to keep up with that at full tilt? i only have the front doors of a 2004 jeep grand cherokee to work with. so far im thinking 2-8" 8ohm crescendo PWX, a 6.5" 4ohm PWX and 2 FT1 4ohm tweets for EACH side. ill be running 2 Q4-90s. Ratings: SPEAKERS 8"pwx 200rms each 6.5pwx 150rms each ft1 tweet 80rms each AMP 4ohm-90rmsx4ch 2ohm-130rmsx4ch bridged 4ohm 260rmsx2ch wiring will go as listed..... LEFT DOOR 2-8" 8ohm PWX parallel to 4ohm on bridged 1/2 channel of amp 1 (260rms to the pair at 4ohms) 6" 4ohm PWX in channel 1 of amp 2 (90rms at 4ohm) 2-FT1 4ohm parallel to 2ohms on channel 3 of amp 2 RIGHT DOOR 2-8" 8ohm PWX parallel to 4ohm on bridged 3/4 channel of amp 1 (260rms to the pair at 4ohms) 6" 4ohm PWX in channel 2 of amp 2 (90rms at 4ohm) 2-FT1 4ohm parallel to 2ohms on channel 4 of amp 2 same on each door, just put to different channels VIEWS, THOUGHTS, ADVICE... all welcomed... i just wanna make sure that would be enough to keep up and hear the music or if im dead wrong. and any advice on good EQ's for the highs? and what i would tune it at. the subs will be tuned at 37hz 16.75ft^3 wall
  8. ok, short and simple.... i have 4-hdc4 15s which i know can take 4k each fine... im stuck between the soundqubed Q1-4500d.1 and the crecendo BC3500d... both about the same price, i know the Q!-4500D.1 puts out more power over all but im trying to see if the BC3500d will put out 4k at .5 ohm? anyone have clamp tests? ill be running 2-320A alts, d6500 under the hood and 6 d7500s!!!! in the back so im not worried much about power. im sure i can keep voltage up fine. also im worried that the BC3500s dont strap so it will be harder to tune all the amps to the same power. and tuning
  9. im designing and very soon building a wall for 4-HDC4 15s and would like to learn about putting 45s in all the corners to "improve airflow". now i do plan to coat the entire inside with resin and sand to either 3000 or 4000 grit for smooth as glass finish for those extra few db. but wanted to see if adding the 45 will improve the db at all, or lower port noise or anything. i have a 3D render on google sketchup of the wall and i can upload pics if requested. about the wall: -4 HDC4.0 15s -2 Q1-4500D.1 amps -16.75ft^3 net volume before woofer displacment -270in^2 port area 20" deep for 36hz tuning. -All walls will be 2x4s with mdf inside and some internal bracing -walled from the B-piller back in a 2004 jeep grand cherokee 4.7L v8 plain with no 45s render with the 45s
  10. Summary: 08 Silverado, ext cab, 5.3L. Walled off with seats in comfortable positions (not straight up and down like some dedicated walls). This will be a daily driver still. I don't want a system that ONLY hits low end, I dont listen to purely boosted music, i want a system that can do well on a variety of music. Basically a system any passenger can throw on their phone on the aux and listen to what they want and sound good and loud. Goals for System: I have a few goals, anything above that is a plus. * Very musical like from 27hz to 50 hz or so * Crazy Hair-tricks * Nasty lows that you hear from blocks away * 153s Amps: Either of the following combinations (help me decide) looking to stay below 2 grand for amps (mind you these numbers arent including any rises, these are the top of the spectrum at absolutely max power, voltage and unlikely circumstance but why not account for these anyways ) * B2M1u - Running at 0.5Ω daily & burping (4950w @ 14.4v per sub theorycrafting) $2000 * Two Crescendo5500 - Running at 1Ω daily & Burping (2900w @ 13.8v per sub theorycrafting) $2000 * Two SoundQubed3500 - 8600w @ 14.4v - running at 1Ω daily & 0.25Ω burping (2150w @ 14.4 daily & 7000w @ 14.4v burping per sub theorycrafting) $1200 Subs: Four SoundQubed HDC4-15s Charging System: Triple Alt bracket, stock alt for regular electrical and two 300+Amp alts for audio system. (recommendations on alts for this system?) also will probably run ext regulated so I can run a 16v audio electrical More details on Electrical: All electrical will be in a waterproof toolbox in the back of the bed under a soft top. Hole cut in the bottom or back to allow access for wires into cab. * 6 banks of 8 caps per bank. (maybe more banks) * 2 runs of 1/0 for power off each alt to rear * Dual inputs on both amps for 4 runs total of both power and ground * Alternator grounds going straight to strut mount brace for a vehicle grounding. * All grounds in rear from cap bank/amps going straight to frame Fusing: * All 4 runs off alternators being fused in back before connecting to cap banks. * Fuse between cap banks and amps * Any other places I'm forgetting? Random Details: I would like to leave about 1/4 to 1/3 of the toolbox free for actual storage for like a bag of fuses, drill, and other random tools for comps. I dont have toolbox yet but will get one that fits under the soft top and leaves enough room for me to load my motorcycle up with the tailgate down. So all in all does this sound like its pretty well planned out or is there some major changes i need to make? Heres my truck in all her glory
  11. Hello all. First off i want to say that im very impressed by this sub. I previously owned a HDC3-18 that i was very happy with at the time, I competed at local events and the sub preformed great. With the HDC3 my personal best score was 147,3db using a 43hz tone. My best score on music was 145,4db. Right of the bat i could tell the HDC4 was a different monster, to my surprise the bass was SO much louder and tighter. The box for the HDC4 is about 6 cu ft big with 117sq inch of port, tuned to 39-40hz. The car is a Saab 9-3 -99 Monte Carlo Edition, butyl mat is applied throughout the car in several layers. Well , onto some testing.... All scores are Sealed on the dash, on music. The song i used was "Resonance Evil" by Bassotronics. The mic is in DbDrag position, set to peak hold. The amplifier used is a B2 Audio Mono @0,5ohm First score is with the back seat up. Second score is with the back seat down.
  12. Hello, I would like someone to take a look at my design before i build it. By my calculations the box is ~5.96Cuft net, with 117sq inch of port @~39hz. The sub will be powered by two B2 Audio Mono MK2 strapped at 2 ohm daily (0.5 for comps). The real question is about the flares on the port. How will they affect tuning?
  13. im wanting to bulid a box for 1 15 inch AQ or 18 inch AQ im tuing the box to 41 hertz i have a box desgin for 10.65 cubic feet but didn't know if thats going to big for 1 15 or 1 18. i can cut it down but 10.65 is what would like to stick with cuase i can have that size box in my trunk and still have room for my amps and batteries on the side.

    2 15s walled help

PLEASE READ COMPLETELY Car is a 1992 ford taurus. Everything is upgraded except for the alternator. Will be running 0 guage when i get more power. WALL WILL BE TO THE SPECS OF HDC4 15s. 2 of them. About 9 cubic feet net tuned to about 29-30 hz. The interior of my car is HUGE. I have one Soundqubed hds215 in the trunk. I just feel like it isn't big enough for my air space. My plan is to wall at the b pillars, and get a second hds215. Then i will be saving up for a pair of hdc4s. I would prefer to keep them 15s. Is it worth it to wall off 15s? Walled at the b pillar my airspace will be about that of an extended cab pickup. Any help would be appreciated. Currently i'm pushing about 1100 rms to my one 15 and will wire my amp to 1 ohm for the second. So a total of about 750-800 will be going to it. Once i get the hdc4s i will be getting a dc 5k. Electrical will be upgraded along the way as well. Basically my question is, is it worth it to wall off the 15s? This car is my beater and i'm not afraid to cut or foam directly to the car. Thanks for the help! I realise i will not hit a 150 or something ridiculous. My goal is low 140s at least. I was also looking at the sundown x 15 but the hdc4s seem to have a bigger motor. Other tips/tricks/hints will also be appreciated. Such as how to seal off the wall with a trim piece. This will be my first wall and is an experimental build. First post by the way.

    Zvx15 vs Aq HDC4 15

Which sub do you all think would be better and hit low notes better?
  16. I just got my hdc4 18", however i have no clue how to design a box or use the torres calculator acurately. i was wondering if anyone could help me design a box anywhere from 33-36 hz. i have all the 3/4 mdf wood. this would be a huge help if i could get any suggestions, tips, advice, or a design from someone. this sub will be going in a 2 door chevy blazer. Im running stock alternator, Powerbass Extreme 2250 amp, Kinetic 2400 battery, 0 awg wiring to amp, 10 awg wiring from sub to amp.
