bignickk Posted October 19, 2011 Report Share Posted October 19, 2011 im wanting to put a computer in my car. i ordered a screen and am gonna hook the computer up to that. now since computers run off 12V can i just hook up wires to constant? or do i need a dc to dc converter? Guest Posted October 20, 2011 Report Share Posted October 20, 2011 no you cant wire the motherboard to the car's electrical system. computers run off of 3.3v 5v and 12v, hence why there are all the different colors of wire in every harness coming out of the PSU. you need a PSU, as far as how you power that PSU, is up to you.
