tbake223
Hey guys i was looking for some input on my box for an RE SXX 10 d2. Running off a hifonics brutus 1200.1 in a Focus ZX3 hatchback. Been messing around with Torres and came up with some numbers. Right now i have a 15x13x32 with 2 4" Aeros at 28 inches in length. Giving me 12.31 port area per foot and im sitting right at 2 Cubes at 32.44 hz. The Displacement of the woofer is .14 and i threw in .1 displacement for bracing and might add some 45 degree corners. My question to you guys is... are 2 28" Aeros too much for this kind of setup? And is 2 cubes net too much for a 10 inch woofer running a little over the rms range (1000)? Specs call for 1.25 cubes at 34 hz. I guess i just want to know if this is going to tear my sub up, and also is it gonna be loud enough? would like to hit 140 is my goal, can also change out aeros if need be for that. Im new to box building and new to anything serious with car audio, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Sub up, port back firing I have the entire thing modeled up to spec in Solidworks please tell me what you think http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream Is that the best position for the cutout? where the air would travel the longest distance is how i planned it Spacing around the ports okay? I have 5 inches between the wall and the entrance to the port Edited May 24, 2012 by tbake223 Quote 02 Ford Focus ZX3 hatch 4-Infinity Kappa 682.9cf's DC Lvl 4 Hifonics BRZ 1200.1 @ 1 ohm Kicker Wires Rockford RCAs Future Upgrades Knu 1/0 XS Power D1200 80 mil audiotechnix B stock
andrew018018
The cutout is in the right position (it should be the furthest away from the port)... i would go with one 4 inch port Quote My System (in VW golf/Rabbit mk2) (1) Hifonics Brutus 2010D @ 1ohm (1) Hifonics Zeus 440 Mids'nhighs (3) JBL W10Gti subs (2) JBL GTO838 (2) JBL GTO936 (1) run of 3/0 Gauge ofc (1) Ac Delco120ah 850cca battery (front) (1) Ac Delco 45ah 330cca battery (rear) (1)Sony Gt630ui hu 34hz tuning
tbake223
One is only giving me like between 5.5 to low 6's where i need 9 to 13 port area per foot. but i thought 2 4" aeros was for sure too much but thats what it said lol. I could do a 6" but the length would be like the same,,, around 28 inches. How big of a box is too big for a 10? the bigger the box the shorter i can make the aero Edited May 25, 2012 by tbake223 Quote 02 Ford Focus ZX3 hatch 4-Infinity Kappa 682.9cf's DC Lvl 4 Hifonics BRZ 1200.1 @ 1 ohm Kicker Wires Rockford RCAs Future Upgrades Knu 1/0 XS Power D1200 80 mil audiotechnix B stock
tbake223
Heres a 6 inch Aero design giving me 13.02 port area per foot.. 2.16 cubes before bracing at 33.5 hz. http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream Edited May 25, 2012 by tbake223 Quote 02 Ford Focus ZX3 hatch 4-Infinity Kappa 682.9cf's DC Lvl 4 Hifonics BRZ 1200.1 @ 1 ohm Kicker Wires Rockford RCAs Future Upgrades Knu 1/0 XS Power D1200 80 mil audiotechnix B stock
andrew018018
IMO i think that box is too big, Re recommends about 1.25 cu ft.. i wouldn't go over 1.75 cu ft... and a 4" aeroport should give plenty of port area Quote My System (in VW golf/Rabbit mk2) (1) Hifonics Brutus 2010D @ 1ohm (1) Hifonics Zeus 440 Mids'nhighs (3) JBL W10Gti subs (2) JBL GTO838 (2) JBL GTO936 (1) run of 3/0 Gauge ofc (1) Ac Delco120ah 850cca battery (front) (1) Ac Delco 45ah 330cca battery (rear) (1)Sony Gt630ui hu 34hz tuning
LZTYBRN
I would definitely aim closer to 1.25 for this setup. Did you put in the length of external port? Doesn't look like you did, but could be wrong. Something like 1.25 cuft. with a single 4" aero should be good.
