Windows Xp Login Help

Recommended Posts

yeah its a window password and

here is exactly what it says: when i start the computer it goes to first window:

Welcome to windows

Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to Begin

Requiring this key combination at startup helps keep your computer secure.

after pressing ctrl-alt-delete i get 2nd window:

Windows XP

Professional

User Name: Reno2

Password:

Buttons on bottom say Login, cancel, options>>

and when you click login it says password incorrect cannot login

if you hit cancel it takes you back to first window

and options doesn't do anything but make the window bigger or smaller but with no additonal data.

okay, good, that last part about the options button not doing anything indicates that this is indeed a workgroup machine. Now, the easiest way is to get that pw reset from outside of windows. The ultimate boot cd is fairly intuitive to get what you want.

this guy also runs some pretty good step by steps and links to utils: http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm
