01xtreme
if ya dont burn the voice coils an old cheap sub and some epoxy works really great yeah, the coils are completely burnt. I pulled one apart, and found the coil unraveling in the magnet. when you move the cone by hand they all make this strange sound almost like a spring being flicked, or something (hard to explain, maybe I will take a vid to see if I can get the sound on film), so I am thinking the same thing happened to all of them. 01xtreme
found some pics of the one I took apart. Here is when I first pulled out the soft parts, you can see the voice coil unraveled in the magnet HEre is the voice coil completely removed. These things blew while being fed almost 500watts under rms. I set the gains with a DMM to make sure I wouldn't blow them. LMFAO. KckrL5s
Looks like the center got knocked lose, I dont think your gonna be able to save those subs, unless you find someone to demagnetize them right? Or is it just the picture angle? Edited August 13, 2008 by KckrL5s Quote 2009 spring fling-iasca-rookie 1-Champion. 139.4db.
