Big J Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 I plan to do my big three upgrade tomorrow(I know I should have done it long ago). I want to protect my wire from the heat of my engine. Which is the best stuff to use? Is there something better than wire loom and braided sleeve? Quote 2 DD 9515 1 Soundown SAZ-3000D 2 Optima Redtops Big 3 upgrade Hitting 151.1db

Is there something better than wire loom and braided sleeve? keep it as far as you can from hot parts (like exhaust manifolds) and you should be fine, but if you're really concerned get some muffler heat wrap tape and wrap the wire in that, the plastic wire loom melts before the pvc wire jacket, and the braided sleeve is usually either nylon (which melts before pvc) or some sort of metal, which will just conduct heat to the wire better. both look good and keep it "safe" but offer no thermal protection really. wildbeast15 Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 hell i saw that exact stuff at advanced auto yesterday when i was buying wiper fluid.. but when the nylon sleeve melts it is almost impossible to set on fire... but as others said keep it away from the hotness as in runn it on the side and upper corner near the edges and youll be fine with no sleeve at all...
