There's a few users here with AP 30001D's that'll vouch for it, I myself included. The 30001D is nothing but two 15001 strapped together inside, we still have the option to run 2x 1500 @ 1ohm or 3000x1 @ 2ohm. There's been reviews on other forums. You could google it if you are still unsure. You won't be disappointed though. If he has a good electrical system it may push 1300-1600 rms.
