00_XJ
Could be a dumb question, but....my 97 Ranger didn't come stock with a RPM gauge (don't know if this affects the install, but it's the only reason I want a tach. How would I go about wiring a tachometer into it? Also, where are some places I could mount it besides the A pillar? I don't want a big one at all, I think they look to ricey. white4d96
Mount on the steering column, make a bracket under the dash, tuck it in front of the gauge cluster somewhere where there isn't an important gauge... As for the signal for a tach...I can't help there. I think whatever tach you get should have instructions. Quote Too many projects, too little time... DHFHades
most tachs have 4 wires, a + a - a trigger for the light and the trigger for the tach. the tach trigger goes to the - on your coil, the rest are self explanitory Quote 1990 Jeep Cherokee 4X4 Pioneer DEH-P2900MP, Big 3 done in 1/0, 1 run 1/0 ran to amp DAT HF1000.1 #007 powering a DC lvl4 15 DAT HR 4085 prototype powering 2 Selenium 6s and 2 no name tweeters running active 1st place in AS3 @ Surf City Sound Off, 140.8 @ 45hz @ the headrest. rebuild coming soon to get a better score "I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. prooutlaw79
Oh yeah, make sure the tach is configured for the # of cylinders u have. Its gonna b a switch or on most high end autometers its a matter of cutting one or two wired on the back of the tach.
