think of clipping as massive distortion.

it makes ALOT of heat and will toast any sub if you don't know what you are doing.

you could blow that sub with 1000 clipped watts easily. so you better be damn sure that those "2500" are clean as hell.

you will be probably only see 2200 out of the AQ and i would suggest finding someone with an oscope to set up your amp properly

clipping is when the amp puts out dc volts instead of ac volts.

is it mostly to do with the way the settings on the amp are set? or jus not enough juice or what is it?

both.

too much bass boost can cause clipping, not enough input voltage, bad signal from your source, gains set to high, or any combination of those put together.
