Guest
what is the point in the isolator anyway,,,its not even hooked up right,, and the alts arent even paralled i understand the point of the stock alt running the car electronics and the other one strictly running the audio equipment but the isolator doesnt even seem to be in the place where it was "designed" to go. basically an isolator is used if you want to play your system with the car off w/o killing the "starting" battery so your car wont be stranded. but once your car starts the isolator switches the "starting" battery to be the audio battery (that is now not being charged by the alternator) and the drained audio battery is being charged by the alternator which is super hard on the alternator and can cause premature alternator failure...thus why noone smart uses them. i think i got that all in a nutshell. doubleD
it looks more like a distribution center, rather than an isolator...could this have any effect on the amount of voltage im getting back to my amps Edited June 23, 2010 by doubleD
keepinitloud
yes when dom sent me my alt he had mentioned isolaters are bad and not to use them for this reason also never get a proper charge with them I'd remove it if I was you Quote 06 chrysler 300C Hemi one mmatts dreadnaut 15 powered by a planet audio vx 2200d fosgate p200 running planet audio 8" midbass drivers and super compression tweeters stock battery and a stinger spv44 Irragi 300 amp alternator big 3 1/0 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/55075-system-in-my-300c/page__view__findpost__p__763656__fromsearch__1
Guest
it looks more like a distrbution center, rather than an isolator,,could this be limiting the amount of voltage im getting back to my amps thats not a correct distribution center. your diagram shows that the stock alt goes to the car electronics and the other one goes to the audio equipment. rip out the isolator, that option only has benefits
