I just hooked the deck up to the car battery and the HU turned on, all fuses are good none are blown out. I have no idea whats up.
-
All fuses were good, and the Hu fuse was good too.
Maybe its just the HU, I didnt really want this one anyways..Guess I'll go buy a new one.
-
well your orange wire is always hot regardless of the car being on or not its the memory for your presets and clock. If it touched a grounding point in the dash or your black wire it would have blown the fuse for your radio. check your fuses under the dash to make sure they are all good. Also the head unit is fused so check that fuse just to be sure.
Okay I'll go check them all out...
Appreciate the help though...
-
well hopefully you didnt ground out a hot wire and blow some thing but I would check the fuses and throw some tape on it it b4 something bad happens.
How would I fix that if that happened? Ground a hot wire? ....Cause I didnt even have the keys in when I stripped the jackets and wired it up. Then I turned the car on.
Maybe something could have happened when I took the sock stereo out or something. Thats all I can think of.
-
how did you connect them twist and tape or did you use T taps and spade connectors.....splice and crimp???? Also check the fuse in the HU it may be bad.
I just twisted them together real tight, t-taps would have gone on if it powered up.
-
should unless your connections are bad, or the H.U. is messed up.
I got another HU around here somewhere from our old truck.. I'll try it out.
If the connections are bad how do I go from there? I cant see how they are bad though the stock radio worked fine.
-
Constant 12V+ Orange to the HU yellow
Switched 12V+ Yellow to the HU red
Ground Black to HU black
With these alone I should get power to the HU right? Cause I just did these steps can turned the car on but no power..
-
So wait...the wires I already have with the HU in the pics I need those plus the wiring harness??
Or do I just take the wires I have now and match them up correctly to how roscoe1129 posted?
-
Got this Sony deck I got for free and wanted to install it into my caprice for the time being.
I took out the stock radio and trashed it..(by the way was an bitch to get out)
I need help with wiring everything up, i was gonna have it done at a shop but I wanted to learn something new.
These are all the wires that came off the stock stereo and have no idea what wire is which.
The HU..
What is exactly needed for the install? Most likely I have most tools needed so Im should be fine with that.
I know Im going to order one of these. I dont feel like cutting and fab up the original dash.

-

Probably been been asked already but Id have no idea where to look for it. But what kind of resin is that you got there? Thats from tap plastics right? Is it just as good as the B-440 stuff?
I think is may be the best build thread posted on the net ever at the moment very very good work bruh, I would love to hear this beast in person one day.

You asked me "How many of those sets could I run off that amp you posted." The answer is 8 sets. You don't have to run that many. I don't know a thing about JL Audio stuff so i can't help you there except to say that IMO you should use something else. I'm a RF guy and will testify that they make awesome products from their amps to components to subs.
I was thinking running maybe 5 of those sets.. So I guess Im good on that note.
I Dont want any 18in Subs or anything like that. Maybe 15's
I wanted to keep it to 2 maybe 3 the max of subs in the trunk.
What would beat harder then two Jl 13w7
Those two Jls beatn
-
look into rainbow, focal, hertz in comps cuzz they are bad ass. Diamond audio makes some nice comps to. Much cheaper than jl audio
Only thing thats going to be JL Audio is the two amps for the two JL 13w7 and maybe another JL amp for all the comps. When I open the trunk Id like to keep all the amps looking the same and same brand. Plus those Jl amps are pretty thin and they same me some room
-
Eight sets. That equals 32 6.5s and 32 tweeters.
Naw when I said ( Previously I meant I would buy eight 6.5s separately so that would be two 6.5s for each door.
If I buy the sets then Id need four of them, 1 set for each door. Since (2) 6.5s and (2) tweets already come in the set.
Wait sorry. Its 7:00 in the morning right now and I just woke up lol. Are you saying I COULD run Eight sets with that just one amp?
Would it be Okay to run all the Rockford speakers in the car with another JL amp? That way I could keep all the amps in the trunk set up and keep it looking the same? Would I need any batteries or Alternators?
The more and more I read or see people Build ups everyone adds a shit load of batteries and alternators.
But Man thanks for all this help though, I appreciate it.

Buy component sets instead of individual speakers.
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14414
Then you'll need an amp like this to power them.
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14331
With 4 sets of components, the 4x6s in the dash will be a waste. Don't bother. Just get one big amp instead of using multiple amps for your subs. It'll help save space.
How many of those sets could I run off that amp you posted.
And I just read this about the Sub and the 1000.1 amps
Overall a spectacular woofer, the best I have ever heard or had personally. The price is high, but you pay for this type of quality. I'm running a 13w7 off a JL 1000/1 amplifier and believe me when I tell you, you NEED to give this sub its recommended 1000 watts RMS for the full experience. People who tell you a 500/1 or other similar amplifier will suffice are crazy in my opinion, 500 watts is severely underpowering this woofer. And on JL site it says the warranty void for these are between 2,000 and 4,000 and 1,000 is its Optimum range

Okay Ima break it down simple.
I want to put (2) 6.5 in each door totals out to ( 6.5's
I want these for 6.5
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17102
And (2) tweets in each door which totals out to ( again 1in tweets
And these for the tweets
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14416
Front dash has 6x4 speakers should I even bother with those? If so Im going to through these in there.
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14408
What amps should go with what speakers and how many do you think I need.
Really my issue is will all this fit with the tank in there with batteries that may be needed or not?? ... Compressors are going under the car
Or what would be louder and sound better than just two JL 13w's?
-
well first of all give up on the idea of puttin 2 1000.1's on each sub. unless you have a second set. they will explode very quickly. second bagging it is a great idea. third you can put the suspension behind the box and then build in front of the stuff. you gotta lot of room in that trunk
(2) 13w7 with two 1000.1 to each sub
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=10
I thought of putting the tank in the back side against the seats but I need to drain them every now and then right? How would I get to it cause the back seats dont fold down and there is sheet metal behind it. Also I dont want to put in a regular box I want something thats permeate unless I decide to redo everything.
Your post is vague and very general. This is the only question I see and the answer is no you can't fit the tanks and compressors under the car.
Yeah I know I kinda went over board, I got so many question lol.
Okay, well either way The two 13w7 are going back there since reinke said I cant do two 1000.1 to each sub how many watts should I set up for these subs and which amps.
-
Anyone? is there more info you guys need or anything?
-
It will be a minute before any actual audio goes into the car but I wanna get an Idea on how I should run things, I have very little audio knowledge so stay wit me. I Have a 87 4 door caprice
I want to bag it but im unsure on if it will fit. Or could I possibly put the tank and compressors under the car?
Any way here is the trunk I just tore out the carpet that was glued down so thats why is looks are Fuckd up in there..
I want to do a wall right there and put in two JL audio 13w7
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=12151
And two of these to each sub
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=12756
I had this idea for a while now and recently came across someone that had the same idea as me, this is in a two door caprice 70's model though, same trunk design too i believe.
These are 12's
Pretty much I want to get the trunk like that... and get the air tank there in the middle
For the inside Im doing some door panels, all re-designed with maybe (1 or 2) 6.5 in each door and with (1 or 2) 1'' tweets in each door.
Rear deck I was thinking of porting the box and having the port come up and out of the rear deck with ?? size speaker on each side and some more tweets? There are factory cut holes for 6x9 now or should I go with a different size speaker.
The front of the car in the dash has 6x4 speakers. You guys think I should even bother putting some in there or just leave those out. I really need a suggestion on this cause Im fixing the dash and glassing that right now so if I put speakers in there or not I may just seal the holes up for the speakers and glass over it.
I was thinking of going with all Rockford Fosgate speakers all through out and the JL subs with JL amps and Rockford Fosgate speakers with Rockford Fosgate amps. Or does that even matter if I use different brand sub with different brand amp?
Head unit Im going with a Touch screen 7in or so most likely Kenwood and two flip down monitors dont know what size or brand yet.
-My concern is which brand speakers I should go with and how many amps will be needed for the speakers besides the subs or is it possible for me to run all the speaker in the cab to just one or two amps to try and save some room for the tank.
-Trying to get the air tank for the bags/subs with enclosure/ and amps in the trunk
-How may batteries will be needed or any at all besides the one under the hood
Also anyone is Sacramento or bay area think they can tackle this project and how much you think it run me...
If I can get help on making a System Diagram so I can go out and buy all the shit I need I appreciate anyones help.
Might post this on other forums to get some more ideas

I bought an wiring harness......................from ebay lol. Auction said it was for my car but now I dont know about that one.
Pics..
Have no idea where this big ass thing plugs into.
From the listings
Also like I previously said. All of these fuses are good.
The Stock radio worked fine and had power. The HU has a good fuse and I wired it up to the car battery and got power but when taped into the factory wires no power.
