you are running a 12" xl in that big of a box.... sounds like its unloading on you.... when you go big box you lose power handling, how much power you running because you might be stressing the neck on it.... rusty told me to not do more then 1.75 on my level 3 if I wanted to push it to 1200rms..... XL is recommended at 1.5cuft so I would say 2.0 is really pushing it if you are putting 2000rms to it
how did a dual 1ohm sub read 1.2, did you only check 1 coil?

i seal those up on everything i have ever owned.... the spl goes out those flappy vents...... only down side is pressure build up on expressways and when someone slams a door with you inside

i dont know the technical side of it or expensive XS batterys but I used to run my stock bci 65 under hood and 2 marine deep cycles in the bed for my power inverter... nothing beats having 120vac and a torpedo heater in a blizzard while sledding.... back then I never heard of a big 3 and was running a stock 135amp alt.... never had problems.... now you have a larger alt, but also way more batterys.... the cost of your batterys and alt dwarf my whole systems cost so you might want to store those batts in doors with a tender on them..... I hope you get lots of posts on this thread

if all else fails you could always extend your factory cables

or use the custom -7.5db tone if -5/-10 does not give the results you like

Is there a AMM-1/DD-1 combo pack in the works? Or is the presale the best offer on the AMM-1??
the amm-1 has a distortion led.... why cant you use it as a dd1.... seams like a tool that would replace a couple of the other tools.... might not be as easy and straight forward as the uni-taskers but you should be able to set x-overs and gains with a little bit of knowledge.... I plan on getting one around christmas time

looks like a sweet vertical home theater setup

Pretty cool of you man! You will make his day im sure! you probably already did when you just wanted to see it!
even more if he knew who was looking for a demo!
please dont give him an XS Power battery... he will have no bike to ride in 25 minutes!
-
should i do the work for him or should i give him a call, hand him a stack of equipment and tell him "see you in 2 weeks"? See what he does with it and revisit? Or should i do the wiring and stuff for him?
if you have the time... give him the stuff and direct him on what to do so he does all the work... with your supervision..... if you give a horse a drink he drinks for a day but if you teach a horse to drink it lives longer and then gets big and people can have a horse BBQ and eat for a month!

I had a buddy back in high school that did that to a moped he just could not wait till he got his first car.... also post up a spoof that this is the winner of SOTM

with newer tech I love how caps are making a comeback.... I know this is not the same as using a basic car audio capacitor but the concept is the same

Geez I'm old I guess.. not sure what tool map is
it is a map of people with tools and their locations to help you with what you need... and they list what they accept as payment.... ie... lunch, $5 borrow your girlfriend... ect....for example there is a guy in my area that will let you use his dd1 and compensation is lunch

So a fan that blows out of the back? Genius!
the fan doesn't appear to "blow out of the back" at all. I love when people make smart ass comments and then make themselves look dumb in the process "Genius". lol
Pardon my ignorance I suppose. But is the fan not facing the back of the amp? Are you saying it just moves air around inside the amp, versus actually blowing out the back and pulling cool air in the sides? If that's the case, wouldn't it make more sense to have the fan facing ANY other way?
it looks to me like it is blowing air down on something that the manufacturer thinks is important.... just like a cpu cooler on a computer except in this case there is no case fan helping pull more air into the case.... I really would like to know what would be connected to a heat sink under this fan

it has no external fusing so I say it puts out 300,000 watts

so this would be a good product for sealing taillights... I cant seem to keep the water out of my right rear taillight.... I have had to keep placing it in the oven to dry it out and trying new things... last thing I did was "silicone" in all the seams.... it rained.... did not work.... its driving me nuts
-
what is the myth... more voltage = more power... if the myth was confirmed then more power would not be more power.... so didn't you bust this myth... or was the myth same power from an amp even with more voltage... I would have said more voltage would almost always make more power since non-regulated PSU amps lose power under 14v and some amps are designed to operate on 14,16 or 18vdc. only a regulated PSU amp wouldn't gain since they pretty much regulate all power to a steady 12vdc... I either read this test wrong or it is worded goofy to stop adam and jaimey from contacting their lawyers... lol
-
how much power can this amp possibly make with the gains turned all the way down? I know they are not volume knobs but you can limit power..... my BE1700.1D did 1700rms on steve's test but I have not fried my DC lvl 3 12"...... if anything you will be getting cleaner power and a cooler amp from not tapping it out!

I did my dc thread question in the DC Audio sub forum and rusty answered my question in less than a day

I love these tests... the one I have always wanted to see is a drag race between something like a punch 800a2 and a punch power 800a2....was the power version worth the extra cash

went ahead and designed another box... used every last inch I had to make this box 1.75 net after port and sub displacements and kept it at 33hz tune... the output has improved greatly and things rattle and shake way more than they did with the 1.25cuft box..... was well worth the $30 price and 18 hours of work for the redesign and build!!!!! thanks for the suggestion Rusty!
