    i'm baffled at how stupid some local shop mechanics can be. Voltage meter is reading low 12's with car running even when revved up. When last night it was reading low 14's hot. But alt isn't bad because the battery light on the car hasn

      Here's something to check before replacing an alternator. Some cars have a big fuse for the alternator where the hot wire plugs into the fuse box. I think the battery light only turns on when the battery voltage is low.
