  2. allthread is by far the best choice for strength. but if you want seemless looks, go with the dowel rods. just make sure you secure the rod like skittles said. 2x4's work but the take up more internal space then the other choices. as for double and triple layering the box, it is not needed unless your building 50000 watt monster. just build you box solid and brace it well, you will have no flex. and yes i can speak from experience.

  4. yep. im not to hot on the interior, but that will all be changed. im gonna start building the box for the 15 tomorrow. so there will be more pics up tomorrow.
  5. well here is my new project, it's a 87 s10. as of next weekend it will have a 350 between the frame. a DD 9515 run off a dd m2. a dd c2a for the mids and highs. now for a few pics. and of course it"s already c-notched, so its also gettin bags.
  6. well i got a buddy, very very well known in the audio world, he has a dd z2lv up for sale. if your interested i'll give you his shop number
  7. steezy did your 4 12's box take up every bit of room in your trunk to were a midget couldnt even masturbate in there? or was this in your durango? if your talking about a durango or other suv then thats a completely different scenerio.
  8. but something else they dont think about, is just because you can shove a box for 4 10's in a trunk and they have the right airspace, if they have no room or way for the sound to travel, then they will still sound like ass and all your gonna hear is rattle rattle coming from the trunk
  9. you said the magic words that others dont think about. the biggest you can fit with proper airspace. thats the key that people are missing. 1 10 with the proper airspace will kill a pair of 12's in a shitty box
  10. you have a pair right? and there behind your back seat? if so without some crazy fab work or a blowthrough, you will never reach the full potential of those subs. it's a sad reality, but thats how it is. i have built boxes for those trucks and there's just not enough room back there
  11. no prob man. it just gets crazy and actually annoying when you always here man i got 6 tens in my trunk and my boy has a pair of tens and he out pounds me. if those people will stop shoving so much crap in lil cars they would be louder.
  12. if you really think that its always gonna be the more subs the better, then you need some help. there is such a thing as too much. you need to realize what your working with. if you have a small ass trunk and you try to shove 4 big subs in there, your not going to get much out of it. but if you but one sub it's going to hit harder. Thats a question that can only be answered on a car to car basis

  14. your misunderstanding what is being said. the coils will always be at .6 on his meter. but the impedence changes as the sub moves. with the sub not being broke in, it is not moving very much. with a broke in sub the susp is much looser allowing the cone to move more. if you dont believe me hook up your dmm to a sub and get the reading. then push on the sub and see what happens.
  15. also did you clamp your set up when you had the btl? if so what was your box rise? clamp it again with the aa and see what rise you get.
  16. if i was you i would play it easy for a bit til it loosens up a bit more. once broke in, you shouldn't have a problem.
  17. everytime your sub moves your impedence will change. hook up your dmm to you and gently push on your cone of the btl's and the mayhams. see how much of a difference there is between the two. 20 to 1 says the mayham has far less change. add this to the fact that your sub is not broke in, therefore it is not moving much, so your box rise could be to a minimum. now i could be completely off, but without being there and seeing it, all i can do is give you my opinion on the problem. i have had the same problem with 9500 series dd's when they were new.
