  1. I've always had good luck with the Rockford Fosgate LOC, I've used two on new Fords and one on a newer Chevy. I don't like the ones with pots on them, didn't want to have to deal with them. Every time I've used the Rockford ones, I was able to find where the hu distorted at. Not saying, that LOCs are any substitute for a good hu, but I've had good luck with those.

The ones I've used are the newer ones with the fixed output.

  2. Try putting the positive probe on the speaker-out negative. (If you haven't tried already)

    Did you try this?
Scanned over that, but I got everything to work! Plugged in the negative RCA instead of positive and I got the lights. Head unit doesn't distort also :-)

the negative RCA ?... wtf does that mean ?
Uh, not quite sure, I checked to see if I put the RCA's in the wrong spot on the back of the h/u, but they're all in the correct place, so.

    Im asking you dude.

"Plugged in the negative RCA instead of positive and I got the lights"

what does that mean ? you have a positive RCA cable, and a negative one ?

Thats what im asking you by your comment...

he's probably got red and black color coding on the RCA's and assumes red is positive and black is negative...Idk..just a theory

    :hi:

Next time...... let me keep going..

    thanks capt bring down..........

sorry man...gotta an itchy typing finger

  4. To me it's worth the money. I mean hell I don't have the money, but let's say the ~$2200 price someone posted earlier was msrp (not saying it is but for arguments sake) if you compare that to the price of 5 D3100s at msrp then you've saved money. Not to mention you'd have 29 lbs. of battery vs close to 400 lbs. of batteries. To me, when you compare it, it's worth every penny assuming these hold up as well/better than agm batteries.

  5. You can't just but a knob that will get you 14.4 all day.

Unless your system is small. Then. That said. Run it a 13v and don't worry about it.

Netting 1 volt to you won't do shit.

    Get it?

Yeah, ahh well thanks for the help. So when do you need one?

    runniing 16, 18 volt...

EDIT- buuuuuuut.. you still need the bank... to take it..

If your seeing low voltage when you "lean on it"..... turning a knob up... wont do anything...

UNLESS you have the capabiitly, and the bank....... just rolling the knob up to 15v... wont do anythying when your asking for amperage

    understand?

    I do now..thanks for thelp!
  6. People get lost on PCM.

And thinking "turning up the voltage" will help.

If you can maintain 13.7. GOOD.

The VCM will only up voltage. Not amperage.

So if you are at 13.8 ... Turn you volume up. And drop to 13.0. Adjustin the VCM up a volt won't do anything.

    Not under load.

I understand that, it's just that it gets on my nerves that in the summer that I can start out at 14.3 and then after having to stop and crank it again several times it'll fall down around 13.4, 13.1 if it's really hot. I just want to be able to put in on a voltage and it stay there.
  7. I have a 250 amp Mechman alternator on my 07 F-150, and I'm wanting to be able to bump up the output voltage. I was wondering if their external adjustable voltage regulator is my only option, or if there's other products that do the same. Not saying I don't want to buy Mechman's product, I just want to know all of my options.

The alternator in your truck is a PCM controlled alternator, and any alternator not plugged into the PCM will at minimum turn on a dash light. I believe that there might be a tuner or two that are available that can turn the light off.

    Hope this helps.

    Chris

well I don't really care about the dash light coming on. So does that mean I can't get a module that will change it?

We have not done full in depth research of all the possible symptoms. Feed back that we have had is just the dash light. Different firmware versions could cause different issues, so I can not say 100%.

    Sorry man.

    Chris

Sorry, I guess I should've been more clear. When I was referring to a module, I wasn't referring to one that would fix the problem. I was asking if since that was the only problem, could I still get the the vcm and run it on the vehicle. Or maybe I misunderstood your reply.
