I'm a newb when it comes to box building or tuning do you think the 35 hertz is a little high would a 32 be more suitable? I'm kinda clueless about this. lol
-
No, the box is not that big and really is not needed.... if you want you can put little biscuits in the corners or even do some fiberglass resign coating on the inside. that will make it stronger and get a lil louder.
ok I will probably just skip the braces then, I cant wait to hear what they will sound like in my car with this new design I hope it is quiet a bit louder
-
nice work cliff, will I need to add any braces or no?
-
Thanks cliff for taking your time to help me out I really appreciate that, and yeah the 35 may be weird but it should work fine and be louder that what I have now I will try to ger the wood cut one of these days when it's nice and test the box out
-
or whatever feq works well with these subs
-
oh as for tuning 35 sounds good
-
can we get some basic dims of what will fit, LxWxH
Vented right? do you have a tunning pref?
vented for sure
ok here's the specs of the box I have now and it's a pretty tight fit but I could go an inch higher and 2 inches deeper the width would have to be the same
# Width: 32"
# Height: 13.5"
# Depth: 19.25"

I have a 99 mazda protege the subs will have to face the back of the truck and I have 4 cubes of space so if anyone can help please do so I can get louder.
Thanks, dan

if i were you i would post a topic in the fabrication section with a title explaining that you want specs, some of the people that are good at that may not look here, just my .02
will do thanks
-
Ok thanks guys, well now here comes the next question I have a 99 mazda protege and like I said I have 4 cubes of available space so can anyone help me out with specs of the size of box and tuning recommendations?
-
you could try maken a new box but your probly better off buying bigger subs. could always get some nice Fi's
off topic butyou goning to sell your 2 type r's?
it's possible I just need to find something new first
here's a pic of the box and subs just to see what the box looks like
-
sealed i take it? try maken a simple vented box, be cheap and be louder
no actually it's ported not sure what it's tuned to I can get a vid maybe of it playing like I said they are ok but I just want it to hit harder and louder.
-
what kind of box you using now
just a prefab ground sharker box from woofersetc.com it has 1.8 per chamber
-
Oh sorry forgot that well I would like to stay around $400-500 if possible
-
they work ok but I want something louder does not have to be the cleanest sounding subs but decent, I will be using my SoundStream TRA 1400.2 for power and I have about 4 cubes for space, any suggestions????
Thanks, Dan

cool thanks guys, I will maybe check into some fi's
-
It was made in 2001 theres a stamp inside saying so, it's a wedge shape also larger than the newer ones pretty rare I think I had the old school W3's 12's in but sold them, subs have only been removed once from box it's in very good shape nothing wrong with it, it just dont fit in my protege so I would trade for some subs or a amp let me know what you got. trader pays shipping unless I get something real nice
-
wat kind of car?
