  1. replace that battery.. should be sitting at 12.8+ and not lower than 12.6.. throw it on a charger to see if that helps.. my optima would rest at 11.8 and would have issues starting the car.. threw it on the charger and fixed the low resting voltage

I did indeed throw it on a charger, I know the battery is faulty and Advanced Auto refuses to replace it, hence why I'm thinking of slapping the AGM back on tomorrow. My AGM rests at 12.7V FWIW (OEM Lexus Batt)

TBH I'd say this is normal. Newer Toyotas/Lexuses charge really low. Not a bad thing though. It's easy on your batteries :)

Yeah I agree, they usually charge around 14.4 during a cold start and lower down to about 13.8 after it's warmed up.

Also reason why it's showing 12.8~13v at 500rpm is because the alternator isn't spinning fast enough yet.

I don't even get 14.4 sadly, I get 14.1 on a GOOD COLD morning (60-70F). In regular weather it's more like 13.5-13.8v. Under compressors running, 1.2k RPM i'm getting 13.8V. For some reason the alt is much more stable now. It was being bipolar when I first started this thread.

have you checked for belt slip. are you using stock size belt. did you even replaced the belt?

I indeed checked for belt slippage, I looked around the belt and no sign of black dust around it, alt looks brand new still. I did not replace the alt belt.

EDIT: Forgot to say, thanks for your help folks!

  2. TY for the feedback SnowDrifter :)

I'm at the same time glad and NOT glad about the whole issue.

I'm not happy I'm dipping down to 12v when I'm about to put 1400w+ (CT Sounds at1400.1d).

I don't think my compressors like sitting at anything lower than 13.5v either :(. The worst part of all this is I don't have the funds at the moment (moving within the next month) NOR do I have room for a battery array Like in Mr Meade's car :(....

  3. LOL! Thanks guys, I know how quirky chrome is compared to IE on slower PCs.... I just wish my IE worked ALL the time on these forum functions HAHA..... I'll be switching to chrome JUST for you guys here at SMD ;).

I will still use IE for all my regular uses though, it's just something I'm soo used to.... Sorta like Mac vs PC, or iOS vs Android.... I'm just used to IE LOL

  4. Hi, I've been trying to get into contact with steve to see what his input was on his system on his Lexus. But the shop said he's a private party and he owns his own side shop next to the shop I called... I didn't want to bother them any further.

I didn't externally regulate my alt, in hopes of good results, but I seem to be stuck at the same voltage ratings, just the voltage kicks up faster upon RPM cycling upwards.

I'd say my voltage @ 500rpm ranges from 12.9V-13.4V, and if I accelerate up. At COLD crank, I get a good 14v, after warmup, I can't seem to get past 13.5-13.7v.

I'm currently using a Optima Yellow Top for my setup, I've ran in parallel to the OEM system, a 1/0 gauge wire from the alt to batt, and 1/0 gauge in parallel from the alt to the chassis.

I can also take photos if it helps anyone figure out what I mean.

FWIW, resting voltage on my Optima's surprisingly pretty sucky IMO. It rests at 12.3-12.4V, apparently the autoparts store I purchased the battery at says that 12.4v is a GOOD resting voltage. I argued about it for a bit and got nowhere, so I gave up and left.

The battery was rated for 750 CCA, and it measured 734 CCA on their battery tester....

Any input outside of the battery would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

  5. I found it works stable and fine on flash, if you're referring to youtube and other video loading sites whom I shall not name. Shockwave I don't play games much, as that's what I beliee shockwave's meant for.... neither Java, so I can't tell you that either. I find IE more user friendly, hence why I use it.

IE DOES have addons, unless you mean the popup blocker addons and whatnot you get with FF and stuff.

I honestly have no hiccup problems with IE, I'm on a decently powerful laptop (it's powerful for what it is), and usually don't get hiccups :).

    [AW m17x, SSD, 16GB Ram, gtx 680m].

On another note though, if anyone knows how to enable the option on Chrome, that deletes internet history as soon as you close the browser, it'd be greatly appreciated! I don't want Cookies deleted, just the temp int files. I like keeping the PC clean lol!

On IE, it has a "delete browsing history upon exit" option that I just don't find in Chrome :(.

  6. Hi guys, I've been having a problem quoting other's words lately, can someone help me figure out why it doesn't work on my browser? It works on chrome just fine, just not IE.

I'm using IE11, and so far with these micro glitches in SOME forums I'm not happy with it at all.

    Thanks!

P.S. I'm also having problems PASTING links in this forum also..... That's even moreso irritating lol.
