  1. Set at 0dB means that the 1khz @ -0dB on the DD-1 track at max clean is putting out the most clean power it can (RMS, varying with impedance of the speaker). But music is attenuated, so that will not give you the loudest setting for music. Setting gain for -5dB overlap will be louder. As long as you set it clean, your HU is clean, and the music you're playing is clean, then you'll have a clip-free experience. You can set it with the -5dB track and you should be ok. I just like to play it safe when feeding more than rated to speakers. Especially tweeters. My apologies.

got ya, I will try 0dB first. Then maybe -2.5db.
  2. Nope. Stay away from boost anything.

I'm glad to see you have crossovers. Your first post threw red flags at me. But all will be well :)

I will make this suggestion. It's not exact, but it may be safer. Use DD-1 as planned and find your gain setting using the -0dB track. Take a picture or make note of its position. Then find the gain setting for the -5dB track. Then back it down to half way in between that setting and the position for -0dB, and you have a very roughly set -2.5dB (unless you want to download snowdrifters -2.5dB 1khz track to use). If it's not loud enough, then you can try the -5dB, but I really don't think that's a good idea for your tweeters.

being that the kappa tweeters and the components both have a crossover should I still set the high pass crossover on the amp?
  3. I would say no for the tweeters, yes for the mids.

But I will also say do not run those tweeters on a two channel with those mids unless you have a passive crossover In between the amp and tweeters, and I would say same thing for the mids. If you're trying to run active with that setup, your going to damage those tweeters very fast.

the kappas have a crossover as well as the pioneer component. The amp has a punch boost that works as a 12.5k eq when in high pass mode should I even touch that?
  4. I don't have a high voltage system. I can't get that 1500 to 1700 watts out of my saz 1200 but from what I have seen the scv 1500 would do its rated 1500 watts maybe more on a 12 volt system.. That's why honestly I feel like the scv 1500 might yeld my set up slightly more out put . but still not rushing to get one yet.. But a saz 1500 to a scv 1500 idk I would like to see Jacobs side by side comparison on a 12 volt out put with say the saz 1200 and up to the scv and show the difference.. Heck if its worth it I'll take one..

  5. From what I have only heard please don't hold me to this ... Is the new scv 1500 is basically a saz 1200 .. The saz 1200at max voltage was out putting close to 1700 rms so Jacob said it could have been called a 1500 watt amp... For us customers that's awesome its only rated at 1200 more wattage for less money.. The scv 1500 is the same size spec as the saz 1200... I own a saz 1200 and asked my Sundown dealer if I went to the scv 1500 on my two d4 sa12's would I benefit I was told not at all.

  6. What about when you told me they refused to do any warranty work because you modified the amp?

I guarantee that Rockford didn't touch that amp because you bought it from an unauthorized dealer.

Call them give them the serial # and find out for yourself.

I only painted the Rockford logo and doing that did and can't hurt the amps working...I had to contact the better business bureau . sonicelectronix warranty does not specific cosmetic changes to void warranty.. They pick and choose words to void warranty.. They told me and the BBB that it would be sent to Rockford for repair.
  7. He's not being honest about them doing warranty work either.

But I'll give him a chance to be first.

warranty work I was told was done by Rockford Fosgate. Sonic said they sent it to them.. It was sent back to me in a plan brown box I shipped in the factory box tool paper work set up CD all in there.. And I find it hard to believe Rockford didn't include any paper work on what parts was replaced or what they found.
  8. With that much difference between the two channels its around 35- 40 watts so very audible difference on mids up front.. Its defeating having a smd dd1 to get the most out of my system when I have to tone down because one channel is higher or lower.

What amp and what ohm load?
Rockford 300 ohm load 2ohm stereo... Ohm load is not present when testing with dmm .. Looking at a dmm gain chart with the voltage difference between the two channels ball park 30 to 50 watts off... No one is going to convenience me that this is normal..
  9. Some amps you must connect both positive and negative cc-1 probes to the positive and negative speaker outputs, other wise you will get no signal.

This goes for the dd-1 as well.

Common for amps with tiffany style rca's on the amplifier or differential inputs.

Several users posted that their dd-1/cc-1 don't work, and they say they have crescendo amplifiers, and doing it the way I said above works, even if its not a crescendo amplifier, due to the negative speaker output on the amp typically being a common ground.

Not going to lie, every time I use my SMD tools, I go straight for the positive and negative speaker output, because I know it works every time, with or without differential rca's.

on my sundown 1200d I set for 80hz and sundown them self said the spot it was set at looked on the money, but now on my kicker zx1000. 1 80hz on the dial is about where 100hz or better would be I sent the picture to kicker they said no way that's correct . I set both using red to + black to - speaker. The kicker amp is nasty at what the cc1 is setting for 80hz .
  10. Had it been 3 weeks since sonic got the amp i don't think there is a person here that wouldn't back you 100%, but 3 days is nothing today to have to wait for an answer. Short duration wait times before making a thread that makes people feel as though you are putting a company on blast gets them a bit heated to say the least, and as good as sonic has been to many of us on this forum, we tend to stick together and stick for the company.

how is just asking a question putting someone on blast? I understand loyalty to a company or brand but being a little to fast to jump someone's ass because thay ask a question is a little fanboy.
  11. posting here might help...

a few weeks back i bought stuff online and luckily i used paypal. ups decided to damage the package and lose fittings in the box. i messaged the company and they was cool and said they would ship out priority that same day.well i waited a week and nothing. i then sent 3 more emails and no response.. i went in on paypal and sent an email through paypal and had my issue resolved in 2 days. sometimes escalating things helps but i think the op should have waited a bit long. i did wait for my issue to be told when it would ship and i know the shipping times so when i escalated the issue i was in the right to doing so

right I'm not rushing them to send me one or something just wanted to know what might be done.. Heck if they tell me two weeks to a month then at lest I know and can order a new one somewhere..
