I was hoping for a turbo and huge front mount intercooler behind that front end.

it's possible,.. manufactures are doing strange things these days. I wouldn't put it past Ford to do something like that either. That's why i said most cases, but there are going to be exceptions more often then not anymore.
It's not the most air tight system either. so could also be a combination of them getting residual air flow stricktly based on how the plenum under the dash is designed.

Update:
And was already thinking, "wow, I bet you that vent exit could be pretty easily routed right to / across my amp. So, on a cool night, I could close all of the other vent ducts, put the thing on low AC, and direct most of that right across my amp......
Peace,
Fish
usually, those under the seat vents are routed with heat when the hot air blend door is in the heater position. most heaters have floor settings, and that's where you would get anything coming through those ducts. the a/c primarily is upper ducting only. I have seen custom ducting ran from an a/c vent to channel cool air on an amp.
As far as the thermal issue, I have used those style RF amps, and i was able to get mine to thermal and shut down many times. A little more sensitive then i would like, but not too much of an issue unless sitting still on hot days/nights. The fan had more noise then i cared for too, but only a bother at lower or idle volume levels.

Looking good

For whatever reason, I couldn't sleep that night, and had woke up early. Got ready for work, turned on the news, and I seen it completely unfold from the "breaking news just in" senario, and could not believe what went down before me. Some hours later still decided to go to work. While there I had a walkman on all day listening to talk radio.
Seems like it was just yesterday, as I remember everything clear as day.

I currently run the 117, but honestly, its not that great. one of the most user un-friendly units ive owned, and ive had many alpines. the usb seems slower then others aswell, and has issues linking with some units.
the cd player seems very weak aswell
in conclusion....
i was very unhappy with it after spending much time with the unit. seemed to be hyped up way more then its worth imo, and i like alpine units. this one however had me shaking my head at

I like the new cone look vs the style in my ava.
when visiting steve at the palms, with its side door open and playing their intro track,...the thing was dropping low and shaking the floor nicely. other then that, it wasnt too impressive

to start it's summer, so what ever ambient temp it is in yer car, the heatsink of the amp is already. next, the mids/highs amp is class A/B which runs warm to hot due to it's nature in circuit design.
unless your amp/amps are shutting down from thermal protect, i wouldn't worry too much
when they start gettig hot I true sh!t off, dont want to f**k something up know.
dont have to. thats what the thermal circuit protects it from. so if it isnt, you're just wasting your time
