Well my wall for 2 BTL 18s is 13.75cubes, 35hz tune, and 200" or port. Could probably use a little bit more port area. Here it is:
I did mine simple, just built a huge box and made trim panels. Maybe not the 'best' way, but simple for me. This is in an 01 Impala. Don't be afraid to tune a bit higher, like 34-35hz. With the box you listed, how long is your port going to be?
Hey your wall looks good man! I do not know what the length of my port is going to be at this moment and I have not decided on whether I am going to build a box outside of the car and then take my door off like my last build (except this time make trim panels and seal) or build the wall in my car. What are the dimensions of your box? One thing I know for sure is that I am going to position my port at the top like yours and put the subs on the bottom.

from what i understand walls are not for the faint of heart once your start your fucked till your finished but the finished product is amazing im not 100% on tuning and port area but it seems to me the same basic principles apply in the same way as a regular box but i might be wrong on that
Yeah it is the same principles to my knowledge, but I hear from some people they like to lower the frequency when building a wall. I think for more air flow.

Today I took out my box for my btl's and I think I want to build a wall. For a wall in a car what frequency and port area should I be shooting for? I was thinking something like 14 cubic feet and tuned to 32 hertz with about 300 square inches of port area(for daily driving). I have just ripped out my box that was to my window line and want to do a bigger and badder build but I wanted to hear what other people think before I start. This is going into a Mercury Grand Marquis. I have never built a wall, but I have watched many builds on this forum and any tips appreciated.
Thanks,
Nate

Thanks everyone for the info!

One more question is their any way that my bass could break the fiberglass and blow particles out of the port?
-
I plan to do a new build in a few days does any body know the steps to fiber glassing the inside of a box and what brands for fiberglass and resin (or any other materials necessary)do you use?
-
Currently, my box for two Fi BTL 18's is flexing a little bit in one area near my port.(I have bracing but no fiber glassing) I want to build a new enclosure in the near future and am a little confused with the steps of fiber glassing the inside of a box, I am not talking about fiber glassing a cloth on the outside. Do I just put the material in place and then resin over? Is their a certain caulk that I should use when using fiber glass? Can I paint over the fiberglass or do I need to apply something else? If someone could please answer my questions I would greatly appreciate it because I want to start building a newer stronger enclosure. Thanks Nate

what do you think that thing will cost?

I love walls... good job but, I was thinking how many decibels (an estimate)do you lose because you have a sunroof.

Yeap, I'm pretty impressed by this setup! I had been considering just running one sub for a minute now. Kinda have me thinking I should have just keep one of my Havocs and T1500-1bd and put it in a box like this. I think I'm through box building for a while. Probably change sub and amp next year some time, but I'm really enjoying this Q right now!
Good job it looks like 2 18"s

What is all the tape for on the box(a damplifier). Is that duck tape painted?couple questions...
How does it sound when its playing like that?? it sound like its bottoming out , but that might be the vid itself... and how many spiders did this one have ? 5?
all in all , thats crazy , that AQ looked badass as well!! very nice

very helpful for those who dont understand
Thanks Mike, this tutorial definitely cleared up some of my questions.
-
it reverses polarity
ex. cone moves out & in vs cone moves in & out with reference signal applied
Which setting would you use for a normal non inverted setup.
-
probably just leave it at 0
Thats what I did but, I am curious whats its function is.
-
Can someone explain exactly how a phase shift works (0-180 degrees) on an amplifier? I have heard some things about when you invert subs but, I am not sure exactly how it works or what the proper degree setting should be.

why not try the manufacturexs site lol

yeah just one type r
I had two 12 inch power akoustik fubars and a power akoustik amp. The amp sounded great but, it did get hot. Also the amp is now in my girlfriends car it has been four years.
-
Cool I like it, im quite sure its loud as hell dumping into the cabin like that. I like the fact the rear seat is still usable, very nice.
Can people sit in the back while the subs are playing or does the seat push against the cones? Either way it still looks great

The size determines the roundness.
ok thanks

It is called a spiral upcut bit. And the bit to round edges is called roundover bit with different sizes. And the bit to trace another pattern is called flush trim bit. Hope that answered it.
What does the size of the round over bit determine? Is it determined by the size of the wood (example 3/4 mdf) or does it determine the roundness of the wood?
What are some good routers that arent gonna break the bank

I bought the same router about a year ago and have not had any problems as well.
