No cry, no butthurt here !
Do it OP, if you have enough battery power. You have a good alt, you may need 2 big AGM : one upfront and one in the back, at least.
(That is the amplifier I want to run on my Zcon 15.)
Ive already got a XS power battery and have the Big 4 with 1/0 wire, so I think it can take it.

No, 3 dual 4 ohm voice coils in parallel would be .66 ohm
-
Do you guys think I would have any problems running 3 x-12's dual 4ohm coils on the SCV3000D. I have a mechman 270 amp Alt.
-
Depends what you like. I like the low distortion true sound of the X drivers but the 4 Sa 10s would get down and sound good too... Why 4 10s vs 2 10s? Why not 4 Sa 10s vs 2 X 12s. Cuz then I'd take two 12s
Cause I already have 4 Sa 10s and was looking to upgrade and would like to keep a smaller sub with bigger sound, cause everybody wants 15's.
-
Which would sound the best on the same amount of power??
-
What's your budget?
600

Im running 4 sa 10 d4s and looking to upgrade my amps. I would like to have one amp to run all 4 but cant find a decent amp at .5 ohms. What would you guys recommend for one large amp or two smaller amps and what size is best for sa 10's?

So pretty much all of you are saying is that the DD-1 is telling me that what I thought was amazing bass was pretty much clipped signal and distortion.
-
Going from -10dB to -7.5dB is cutting the output in half almost. That's a 2.5dB loss, and 3dB loss is half the output. The fact that you didn't notice it goes to show alllll of the people who think doubling power means double the audible output (you know who you are if you read this, and you're wrong)
But back on topic. I think the -10db tone is safe to use, just as long as you know if you start smelling coil, or your voltage is dropping more than normal, you need to turn the volume down. It's what I do, because I like to get the most I can out of my music with the equipment I have. Some songs need full tilt, others can't do it. It's the way it is, knowing your equipment, learning which songs are recorded louder than others, etc.
I agree I listened to mine full tilt for the better part of a year and by what the DD-1 shows with distortion but still never did smell any voice coils so I may just use the DD-1 for my mids amps and HU but setup my subs by ear cause they hit a lot better even if there is distortion I never could tell...

Completely disconnect the subs from the amp and retry. But I'm still betting it's the music itself is recorded/compressed to a lower level than the -7.5db you set the amp to. I have a ton of compressed MP3's that I downloaded over the years, that do great on -10db. I recently started using lossless files and -10db is too much, the subs get smelly quick if I don't turn it down.
I used the -10db when I first got the DD-1 and switched to the -7.5.db by what others suggested on here but couldnt really tell much difference. Ok I'll try completely disconnecting them.

What was a song you were playing?
And what do you normally listen to?
Out of curiosity did you set gain with the gain with the subs wired to the amp or disconnected?
I listen to mostly Rap but like a little of everything, I unhooked just one wire from the sub........Rae Sremmurd - Yno
-
Yeah, and the DD-1 isn't to make your system louder, it's to protect you and your property. Very well could be like you said, maybe that's as much clean output as your gear has if you set everything up right.
You should gain match too, but I doubt that'd make it ouder.
One other thing to check is that you didn't hook something up out of phase when you plugged everything back in,
I know it wont make it louder but I cant believe that ive been distorting my sa 10s for almost a year daily and they never smell or have failed.
-
Is it half as much bass at lower volumes or at full volume?
I ask because if gain is set too high, it'll be quieter at low volumes, but as your turn the radio up, the bass won't get any louder due to clipping at it will sound roughly the same at full volume
At full volume

Im running at 1ohm on both amps and I have the big 3 upgrade. what Im saying is my system sounded extraordinary until I set the gains with the DD-1, but now it just sounds ok and nothing else has been changed.
-
I used the DD-1 to find my max volume of 30 with all flat eq, its an Alpine UTE52BT
-
Im using the same usb mp3 music as before the only thing that has changed is I used the DD-1 to set my gains.....Im running 2 Pioneer GM-D9601's to 4 SA-10's
-
I used Snows 40Hz -7.5dB track.
-
So I have setup everything with my DD-1 but now my subs have maybe half as much bass as before, so my question is is that all my amps are capable of putting out with clean power?
-
Im using Fmod 30hz High Pass filters, should i test with the filters installed or remove them?
SCV3000D running 3 X-12's?
