  1. No cry, no butthurt here !

Do it OP, if you have enough battery power. You have a good alt, you may need 2 big AGM : one upfront and one in the back, at least.

(That is the amplifier I want to run on my Zcon 15.)

Ive already got a XS power battery and have the Big 4 with 1/0 wire, so I think it can take it.

You should have no problem then running that. Those subs will be begging for more though. How did everyone figure out that .66. I have only ever used 12volt and could never find anything I would understand for formulas to figure out how to do what ever configuration I wanted.

    I use these websites........... http://www.bcae1.com/spkrmlti.htm

  2. Going from -10dB to -7.5dB is cutting the output in half almost. That's a 2.5dB loss, and 3dB loss is half the output. The fact that you didn't notice it goes to show alllll of the people who think doubling power means double the audible output (you know who you are if you read this, and you're wrong) ;)

But back on topic. I think the -10db tone is safe to use, just as long as you know if you start smelling coil, or your voltage is dropping more than normal, you need to turn the volume down. It's what I do, because I like to get the most I can out of my music with the equipment I have. Some songs need full tilt, others can't do it. It's the way it is, knowing your equipment, learning which songs are recorded louder than others, etc.

I agree I listened to mine full tilt for the better part of a year and by what the DD-1 shows with distortion but still never did smell any voice coils so I may just use the DD-1 for my mids amps and HU but setup my subs by ear cause they hit a lot better even if there is distortion I never could tell...

  3. Completely disconnect the subs from the amp and retry. But I'm still betting it's the music itself is recorded/compressed to a lower level than the -7.5db you set the amp to. I have a ton of compressed MP3's that I downloaded over the years, that do great on -10db. I recently started using lossless files and -10db is too much, the subs get smelly quick if I don't turn it down.

I used the -10db when I first got the DD-1 and switched to the -7.5.db by what others suggested on here but couldnt really tell much difference. Ok I'll try completely disconnecting them.

  4. Yeah, and the DD-1 isn't to make your system louder, it's to protect you and your property. Very well could be like you said, maybe that's as much clean output as your gear has if you set everything up right.

You should gain match too, but I doubt that'd make it ouder.

One other thing to check is that you didn't hook something up out of phase when you plugged everything back in,

I know it wont make it louder but I cant believe that ive been distorting my sa 10s for almost a year daily and they never smell or have failed.
