2 layers of 3/4 should do it. So a 3 layer baffle. 1 layer the sub mounts to, and 2 more layers outside of that. 1 3/4 layer usually equals the rubber trim ring, and the surround sticks out past that. But you might need another 1/4 max if any.

They are the same price... the vvx has a triple stack magnet and a much lower FS. The MA has a double stack and a pretty high FS.
If mounting depth isn't a concern, I would probably go with the vvx
I have run the VD 8 in a stock jeep box sealed on a pbr300, I was very impressed with it for being so cheap and in a crappy plastic box.

Well how about that! Thanks for doing this video, I would be upset if I lost 300+ watts over a simple wire swap.
You need to sticky this so all the noobs will quit asking about CCA wire
The same holds true for electrical, if you run aluminum instead of copper you have to upsize your wire for the same capacity.
