  1. Ok so here is whats up.

My charge light keeps coming on randomly, and my voltage will drop from close to 14 volts to about 12.5. Sometimes it will be going 70 down the interstate, or going 35 on a city road in town, its just random. And when the charge light stays off the voltage jumps between 13 and 14 volts back and forth.

Also, I finished my fiberglass door pods, for my rockford components and installed a sundown 100.2 to run them.

When the charge light stays off, I have engine whine, BUT when the charge light is on and the voltage drops, I DONT have engine whine, which kinda makes no sense =/

I recently had my breaks fixed and the local shop checked the alternator and said it checked out fine.

The only thing I can think of is the alternator is going dead, I have a bad ground somewhere, or there is a ground loop.

    System setup is

    Panasonic 7105 (2006 model)

Sundown 100.2 running Rockfordfosgate Punch 6.5 components.

Poweracoustik Gothic series OV 2- 1250 Running two Fosgate P2 8 dual 4 ohm.

Tsunami RCA's (the blue ones, not sure which series)

Kicker 4 gauge power wire from battery to D-block.

Kicker 8 gauge from D-block to amps.

Kicker 4 Gauge ground to chassis

Duralast gold top battery up front.

    Stock alternator.

    No big 3 (yet)

If anyone has any idea what the problem is all help would be great.

  2. So I'm looking for a new set of components. Right now I'm running a set of 08 Kicker Ks 6.5's and they sound ok, but the tweeter is not bright enough for me.

    Any input on brands?

I've been looking at the RE components, and some focal stuff, but I'm not sure which brand to go with, seeing as there are so many things that look promising.

the components will most likely be run on a sundown 100.4

    All input would be great.

  3. Second build.

    Here we go.

So my friend has a friend who is in jail that needed money for bail. So he sold my friend two Kicker CVR 12's and a Autotek 600.2 for like $120.

She wanted me to build a box for them, so here I am. Box is about 3.5 after port displacement tuned at around 34 hz (if my figuring is correct)

  4. Ok well I got the box in and amp wired up. It's not loud enough to take video's but it sounds really good and clear, which is really what I was worried about, since like I said its mainly for my moms car. Doesn't help that my highs drown the sub out either.

So over all I'm pleased, it will sound good in my mom's car and maybe a little louder since it will be sub back port back, instead of sub up port up in my car. I might take a vid just to show ya'll after school.

  5. So I got this L5 from a friend. I traded a pair of skate for it, lol. I think I won the trade, seeing as I don't skate anymore....and neither does he really.

The box was designed from the kicker manual for the 2005 L5 10"

I changed the port size a little to accommodate my box, but stayed at the same tuning frequency.

First the box will be in my car, on a zx400.1, then once my mom buys her a cd player for her car it will drop into hers on the same amp.

    Build pics.

Then some pics of my trunk. 82 cutlass supreme

To get the curve of the trim panel/amp rack I cut a bunch of 1 x 1/2 inch strips and CA glued them together, then put a layer of resin and mat over it for strength, body fill, and upholster.

Like I said, this will be just temporary in my car, its meant for my moms but she doesn't have a CD player yet. lol.

Install pics tomorrow morning before summer school.

  6. Right kicker panel, body filled, sanded, and wrapped in matching headliner material to my plastic panels im working on.

The left is pretty much gonna be the same, but I'll post some pictures later when I get started on it.

Car is in the shop, and I need to to do clearance for the e-brake. Might be a couple of days.

  7. This is where I got to as of tonight. Right 6" and tweeter ring mounted.

Still not sure about the crossover.

Here is to get an idea of where the speakers are directed. I am 6'1 and the speakers are pretty much aiming at my head/towards the dome light. The majority of my passengers are from 5'5 to my height.

    CIMG0634.jpg

Just a picture of the angle the speakers are at.

  8. You could modify the Ebrake to fit your needs cut it off and stick a bolt through it up higher in case you ever do need to use it

Thats a good idea. I'll keep that in mind.

On to the problem with the crossover....would there be any harm to the speaker/tweeter or any disadvantages if the crossover was mounted INSIDE the kickpanel pod? I've figured out where I need to place the speakers and tweeters, but the crossover is being difficult. I could mount it on the outside, making a mounting plate for it, but there looks like there is to much going on in the kickpanel. Any suggestions?

  9. Stopped by UPS tonight and picked up the goods. =]

These things are HEAVY, and the tweeter is HUGE.

Also, the crossovers are a lot bigger then I expected. This my pose as a problem.

The only other thing is making the driver side panel fit to accommodate the E-brake still.
