  1. Just posting this for a friend (aqfirebird). Dont know exact details but the Firebird is walled off with 4 15" Nightshade V2's and 4 Sundown 3500's. I think it's tuned to about 38 hz. Highest scores so far (competing in MWSPL) is: 140.7 dB average (12" OUTSIDE the passenger window and playing a song for 30 seconds), and a 158.2 on the dash on a 48 hz tone (i think). Keeps getting louder everyday.

  2. Just built a new box for my truck. I was tired of the center box being in there and not having a center seat, so i went back to a behind the seat box. This box is 2.3 cubes tuned to 31.3 hz. Just in a quick test session is doesn't seem as loud at 40 hz (my peak fq in my truck) but it is a LOW END MONSTER. It can play all the way down to 20 hz without breaking a sweat. I've got peal and seal over the box now because a couple of panels are 3/4 plywood, so i did that to strengthen the box and to seal it on all the joints. I still need to carpet it (once i get ahold of an air compressor). I think it will be around a 140 on the TL, but i think i've got a 135 at 25 hz in it right now. But only time and a trip to hook up a TL will tell.

Questions? Comments? I'll be making more videos soon when i've got some more time on my hands.

And btw, the rattle you hear is the sliding back glass (really need a solid back glass).

And be sure to watch it in HD.

  3. Just a short video of me playing a Hypnotised (chopped and screwed/slowed) in the truck. System consists of:

Eclipse cd5030 (just installed it a couple of days ago, and tons better than the Pioneer Priemer 690 I had before)

Fi Bl 12 D2 in 1.9 cubes tuned to 32 hz

    Powerbass ASA1500.1 powering sub

    Powerbass ASA400.4 powering mids

2 G34 batteries under the hood

  4. As you may remember i built this box a while ago for this sub before it had came in, and i had my DP in it for the time being. The box itself is 1.9 cubes tuned to 32 hz. Fits really well between the seats of my truck and isn't uncomfortable to ride with. The highest i hit with the DP was a 142.5 on the TL and a 145.7 on the AC meter. There is a noticable sound difference in loudness with the Fi, so i'm interested to get it metered. Might in the next couple of weeks.. Anyway, here's a video of it. Remember to watch in 720 (HD) and full screen to pick up everything..

    Got any questions just ask..

  5. Nice, I'm still in love with that fiberglass box though.

Thanks. Haha.. I'm gonna be leaving that in the truck and putting my sub in it once it's broken in and everything. I just built this box for competitions and when i just wanna be really loud. lol.. I need to take that fiberglass box out and brace it some more tho. I'll probably do that after this week (finals week). And i'll most likely be sound deadening my truck too.

  6. Well sorry for no build pics guys, but here's some finished ones. I bought a router last week and built the entire box with it, straight edges and all. I'm officially in love with my router. haha.. But anyway, i built a fiberglass box for my truck a few months ago back when i was in high school still, and it did pretty good on the meter (140.0) but i wanted to go a little louder without having to change setups completely. I decided to build a box to go where my center console was. The box itself is 1.9 cubes tuned to 33 hz (made for my new Fi Bl 12 coming in), but i decided to put in the DP for the time being. There was a noticeable difference in the sound and loudness of this box over my other one, but this one will only be used for competitions, or when i don't need a center seat (can't put the GF beside ya when this is in. haha) So i went and got it metered yesterday. Still peaked at 42 hz like my fiberglass box (which is tuned to 36 hz) and did a 143.5 on the TL, and a 145.6 on an AudioControl 170. Very very happy with these scores. Anyways, on to the pictures..

    VID!!

And before anyone says anything, the box is actually at a very good height for resting your arm. And i can still reach everything just fine.. It does have a problem with sucking things up off the floor (sucked half a beach towel into it a couple days ago).

  7. I'm really thinkin hard about the Omega, even though its a little more expensive, but just because the one i heard was awesome, and i love that high roll surround. And i don't see many people with them, but maybe there's a reason for that????? The HDC does look like a great option though.

  8. Don't really think i was needing more power, considering the surround is starting to tear again (not all the way through yet though). Some say it's overexcursion, but how can i be doing that when the coil isn't hitting the back plate, and i'm supposedly not putting enough power to it?

Anyway, would there be a reason to chose the HDC over the Omega? I've heard both, and am really impressed with the Omega, but will i get a higher score out of the HDC? The only setups with HDC's were stupid loud that i've heard..

  9. I'm running a Powerbass ASA 1500.1 at 1 ohm. I'm probaly seeing 1300 (never had it clamped) but it's a stout little bastard. I'm NOT going to upgrade amps, because first on my list is sub, then alternator, then other crap, and last is amp. I'm perfectly fine with it. And i would like a good list of subs that will fit my amp, not what kind of amp i should get to fit something out of my price range..
