  1. Just shot a quick video before we go to the show (MWSPL in Guthrie, OK) tomorrow. The parts of the video where the bass note gets quiet is me turning the remote knob down because the bass notes weren't very good in that part of the song. It drops off a little because of voltage drop, but right now it's only dropping to mid 12's, so not too bad for stock electrical and an extra battery. This demo was kind of impromptu so couldn't find a good song, so this was the best there was. Haha.

Hope you guys like the video. And watch in 720HD.

  2. At the time the last picture was taken the amps weren't mounted. They are now mounted to the side of the box behind the trim panel, so it's all smooth and clean. Have only taken a crappy cell phone video, but will be getting video of it more this weekend. Customer lives about 30 minutes from me so can't get a video for another few days. Haha.

And the 2x4 braces were reinforced with fiberglass, and so were the inside corners of the box. No box flex at all. This setup has torn up the fiberglass work that was done to fit a double din in the dash so that will need fixed sometime.

  3. Just did this little install at the beginning of this week. Only took a couple of days, but the finished product is better than i expected.

    Equipment:

Subs: 5 JBL Power Series 12's

Amps: 2 Kicker IX1000.1's (wired to 1.78 ohms each)

A little back story. So, when i received the truck all looked good. Come to find out 3 of the subs are D4's and the other 2 are D2's. After doing something thinking, i have the power evening distributed to the 5 subs with some tricky wiring. Didn't know if it would work, but finished product is very loud and clean, and all the subs load the same.

Box is 12 cubes with 170 sq. in. of port tuned to 33 hz. Smashes the lows but has a fairly flat response. I know some of you will question the single baffle, but with the 3 2x4 braces inside, the baffle doesn't flex a mm.

With a little tuning, the ear-o-meter is guessing a 146-147. Not bad for ~1600 and 5 entry level subs.

Second time building a wall and i think i covered everything, but if any of you have any other comments i'd really appreciate it.

  4. As stated, i got back my 6 year old PERFECT condition Bl12 back from the guy i sold it to a couple years ago. I need to lengthen one of the tensile leads a little (did a quick solder job but tensile is now too short). My questions are:

1.) Can i just solder some sheilded 12 gauge speaker wire to lengthen the tensile lead?

2.) How much would a recone be (its a 2007 model that is D1 coils and fully loaded)

3.) What could i sell it for?

  5. They come with an attached bass blocker. Maybe later down the road i will build a crossover for the doors, but honestly, just the bass blocker is doing a great job at cutting off. I believe it's crossed over at 8k, but i could be wrong. Not only do they sound amazing, the build quality is phenomenal. They are having a sale for $30 for 2, but even the regular $40 for 2 is a great deal. When it came to ordering bullets, i was between these and some Seleniums, and i'm VERY happy i went AQ. The Bullets are getting about 50 watts a piece and love it. They are not harsh at all, and actually sound pretty smooth.

  6. Nice job on the door pods and box! I have 2 12's in my dodge and they don't hit nearly that hard. How hard was it to make the pods and do you still have the dimensions for that box?

The pods were pretty easy to make. I think i only have about 8 hours in both from start to finish and in the truck.

I've been experimenting slowly with this truck for about 6 years now. With 1100 watts clamped it's doing mid 40's at 41 hz and low 40's at 24 hz. IIRC, the dimensions for this box is 5.5" deep at the top, 7" deep at the bottom, 49" wide, and 20" tall. About 42 sq in of port tuned to 38 hz.

    Awesome Vid Sir ...

Thank you. I don't make many videos of my truck so i try to get every aspect of it in one video. Haha.

  7. I really like the PPI mids. For $35 a piece you really can't go wrong. I need to do a little adjusting on the EQ, but so far they actually have great SQ, while getting stupidly loud off about 50 watts to each mid.

And thank you. Haha. I'm very pleased with this setup. It has 2 peaks: one is at 41 hz, the other is at 24 hz. (144.3 at 41 hz and 142.5 at 24 hz)

  8. Just a little walk around of the truck since i wrapped the box in Neffy Wrap and built the fiberglass door pods. The 8's are Precision Power PM.804's and the Tweets are AQ Bullets. I'm running 100 watts per door.

On a side note: in the bed of my truck is a box i just built for 6 Sundown E8's. 4.2 cubes tuned to 32 hz with an 8" aero.

    Tell me what y'all think..

  9. They are done! In the truck the pods are actually angled slightly up, so that's a plus. With just the component set and the AQ tweets in, it is very loud, and crystal clear. I can hear little aspects of music i've only barely been able to hear before (fingers sliding across guitar strings). I'm amazed at how good they sound, and also by how well the pods turned out. It's a perfect fit with about 1/2" clear from the kick panels and the floor. Still waiting on a reply back to see if my 8's shipped out or not.

  10. I got some money saved up from building a few boxes, so i finally broke down and decided i needed louder mids and highs. What came out of the door (and is not going back in) was some Infinity Reference series 6x9's. They sounded great off of about 40 watts, but this will be better. Plan is doing a Soundstream SME-804 and an Audioque Bullet Tweeter in each door. Will be receiving 100 watts per side. Just started on this last night. Right now i'm letting the second pod firm up, then will be putting a couple of layers of glass on them, then milkshake for the smoothness.

Tell me what you guys think so far. Btw, this is only the 3rd fiberglass project i've ever done so i'm open for criticism.

  11. Just finished this box yesterday. Started Sunday evening and finished up yesterday. The box is 6.3 cubes with 100 sq. in. of port tuned to 33 hz. With an area in the back for 2 Kicker IX1000's and a Kicker IX50.4. I don't have many pictures because i was wanting a quick turn around time. And unfortunately they are all cell phone pics, but they turned out ok.

    Tell me what y'all think.

  12. A jbl gto1400.1 will be coming into my possession fairly soon. I cant find many reviews on the amp but from the little ive heard it looks like a stout amp. I do see that its only 2 ohm stable. So i have 2 questions:

    1. For anyone who has experience with this amp, how well does it perform?

    2. Ive measured that my box rise is 1.9x. If i wire it to 1 ohm, but with rise the amp will only see 1.9 ohms, would the amp be able to handle it?
