Yeah that is a nice little peppy engine. I looked up your car and there are not recalls or TSBs for it. So it was definitely something with the dealer. Good luck with it, let us know how it turns out.

If you have a throttle body then you will have the screw. Its called a BISS screw check a local Explorer forum and they could prob show you exactly where its at. That is the only way to set the idle with out using a engine manager or controller. I'll try to look in my database for you.

Damn 24lbs of boost thats alot what are you using to manage your engine? And do you have a list of mods that you have done?

FC Steve is right some dealers will pull that shit. I havn't seen the car but from an e-inspection, I would check two place. First the valve seals as stated above. Next if you just recently had an oil change from somewhere like jiffy lube or you know side of the road oil change stations they could have put too much oil in and when the piston comes down it creates alot of pressure and pushes the sides of the gasket out and you start leaking oil. The smoke result from the oil hitting the exhaust. I just had a brand new mercedes come to the shop with this issue. Just too much oil. Good luck let us know how it goes.

First of all the $1850 is a good price but sometime you just dont have the dough to fish out so I understand. $570 is also good with you takin it out rebuilding. I charge about 600 for something like that. I would not put a shift kit in the tranny it usually puts more stress on the tranny and will lead to a shorter valve body life. If you are really interested in a High hp tranny get the real thing don't just use a shift kit. In my opinion get the tranny rebuild and when you put tranny back in get new axle seals and if you are not using new axle shaft clean them really good, trust me, dirty shaft will give you a hell of alot of problems. Good luck man let us kno how it goes.

weird week. Tranny is still a little harsh but the fluid is a little above the middle of the hatched marks (where its supposed to be) and still a nice color red. I looked in both manuals I have for my car, (Chiltons and Haynes) and no mention of a tranny filter...at all. I thought that was really weird. So I went to a couple friends who are mechanics and they said its possible I dont have one. So basically Im saying f**k it and gettin one in may for 500 bucks with only 25-30k on it. Ive heard bad shit about Honda transmissions before and figured this has close to 120k on it so I mide as well change it if I want to run the car into the ground. Thanks for the help.
Your car has a transmission filter, most automatics do. If you can find a transmission for $500 thats pretty good that is about the same price as a rebuild w/ a homie hookup so you'll be saving about $200-$300.
i dunno anything about this type of stuff, but my tranny has started to "pull"not sure if its the same as slipping, so im guessing thats bad?Check your fluid and look for metal shavings in the fluid it sound like your gears are grinding.
-
To the OP checking to see if your fluid is red an not a burnt smell is a good indicator. If you are low or have a burnt smell you need to change out the fluid AND filter. If the tranny doesn't grid or slip your in good shape.
Then what would my problem be when it shifts from second to third and it hesitates a little. like its not catching gear sorry to hijack your thread =/Its slipping - check your fluids

Yes on the tranny filter there is one but you have to take off the pan to get to it. On the torque converter I don't think that is the issue. It is probably a stripped gear. But if you are planning all the things you listed than that tranny will probably not be able to hold the power anyways.

Get Well man, Your definitely in my prayer.

Parts for a job like this should have come out to about $400 all OEM parts. And its only about a an 2-3 hour job if you've done it before. I would have charged about $650-$700 but $1000 is a little high.

If the fluid gets changed make sure you get the filter changed alot, very important.

Press down your timing belt and see how much slack is in it

Its not a radiator hose they are much bigger and you would be having other problems. It looks like some kind of vacuum hose or piece of your water pump gasket. Like a couple post above if you are not seeing smoke of anykind its prob a water pump leak. I dont know the mantainance invtervals for a caddy but its normally bout every 90,000 miles you want to change your water pump.

If your battery is lifting your hood that means your terminals are coming in contact with your hood. NOT GOOD. Get a battery that will fit in the compartment nicely. You are probably grounding out your electrical system on your hood.

What year is your car?
-
is it hard like a bolt or something? i know its not in the way now i just don't want it to get loose on ya and hit those pulleys.

Try clearing your temporary internet files.

na it's not the batt cuz once u start ur car all the power comes from the alt, i could start the car and take the batt out and lights won't dim or nuttin (b4 all the problems started)
Actually the car is started off of the battery then is transferred to the alt. And you can't take the battery out when you have the car started because the electrical system works in a loop the battery is part of that loop. Take ur alt to autozone and let them check it.
-
yeah what ever that is i would clean it out immediately it looks like if it fell it could do some harm to your serp. belt. Also clean the engine and check back for the leak.

That looks about right. I've been looking for an air-ride system for my Eclipse and I've seen a range from $1200-$2000 for these basic bolt on systems.

The O2 sensor and catalytic converter may be blocked up from fluids running through but your problem is your intake. Check that MAP sensor to see if it has rusted out. Check your spark plugs i didnt see that on your list. Put an multimeter on your injectors and make sure that you have the right ohms on them. You wouldn't stall out on a bad O2 sensor but you would run rich from one. My diagnosis of the stalling out if from the spark plugs or a rusty MAP sensor. they are sending figures to the ECU that you are getting too much air and running rich. Check those parts and get back to us good luck man.
