  2. just fyi you actually wont get THAT much more output at .5 ohms than 1 ohm. you'll get more heat and less efficiency than anything. .5 is best in comps for burping

    ya but being able to run it at .5 ohms means i dont have to buy another amp

  3. i was wondering what is the difference between having 2 dual 2ohm sub wired to .5 ohms off one amp. vs having 2 2ohm subs wired to 1ohm off to amps (amp is a sundown 3000d and 2 fi btls) besides the fact that your going to get a little more output from .5 ohms

  4. well an amp can somewhat be like a house receptical, i seen a vid somewere of someone usein a jbl gt6000 powering a saws all from the speaker outputs ona 60htz tone, why im sayin this is cause an amp has an alternateing current and its best is around 50-60htz cause thats were most music lies around and gives a good freq range from low to high if im not mistaken its prolly what is best to use for what the power supplys put out at, hope this answers ur question

    so a 55hz test tone should be good

  5. all right so i just bought an alternator for my 97 ford f150. i had it for like a week but i didnt get to installing it till thursday. when i put it in it ran perfect idled at 14.3. well yesterday after just one day of use i start to smell burnt. then all of sudden i start to see smoke coming out of the hood. so i hurry up and pull over and pop the hood it was the alternator that was smoking up. i let it cool down alittle and it stopped smoking and my battery light went off as well. i drove it around a bit and it ran like normal. the next day (today) i went to check the voltage and now it was at 12.2. when looking at this i was thinking that my alternator went out but i had driven a good bit after the smoking and my battery hadnt died. wat do you guys think of this i had it running only a day. o i forgot to tell you that i ugraded the alternator wire but its not wire that burned i checked them when i pulled over they werent even hot . if you read this mechman help me out i left you a message on your vocemail.

  6. wats up guys well i have been wondering about my subs failure and i just saw another thread that looked like the same prob but his ripped all the way around it was 00sdimes00 execept his ripped all the way off. he thinks that his woofer "i think what happed is that it tossed a tinsel lead" do u think this is what could have happend to my sub. and it fed all the power to one coil. because when i popped off the dust cap i saw inside that the some of the tinsels had ripped from where they used to be. i know that my box is also my problem but u think that this could have been the cause

  7. Ive never seen under one of those but true duals seems like its gonna be some custom ass work going on, you sure theyre only gonna charge 350?

    hey if you live near dallas fort worth i gota couple shops i would hook you up with some flowmaster true duals all the way to the back with chrome tips for 320 and if you want them dump how you said i would have to check up with my dad but i thik we charge 250 out the door everything included

  8. Totally agree - Did you ever watch the sub when it had a bunch of power flowing to it? The excursion would have been horrendous.

    You may be able to get away with just modifying your current box... put some BIG 45's in the corners, maybe double layer the panels inside the box, do what you have to to get the volume down.

    here are the pics i just saw something very similiar here on the forum they said he might get away with just glueing it together. its only broke on one side

  9. this is a sad day for me :sad: i just found out that i have a blown fi btl 18" 2008 model fully loaded. yesterday i was taking a cruise round town and put some white girls on (song) the song was clean and undistorted until i all of a sudden a loud horrible sound came from it it sounded like it blew. i just got done opening up the box to see the damage and i found (i think it was the spiders) that the speaker had ripped right inbetween were the cone and the spiders meet everything almost all the way around it was ripped. R.I.P. and i only had it playing for a week now i need to figure out wat went wrong. i am powering it with a sundown 3000d at one ohm so i dont think it was to much power. besides if it was to much power it would have melted this just ripped not one smell of burnt or one smoke puff came out. plz guys i need to figure this one out plz help me find wat went wrong i will have pics up later on this night

  10. ALRIGHT GUYS WELL I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS AND SOME BAD NEWS.

    WELL I WILL START WITH THE GOOD I DID HOOK MY SYSTEM UP TODAY AND IT HIT I MEAN IT HIT HARD. :hairtrick: :spiteful:

    THE BAD THING IS THAT I WAS RUNNING ON STOCK BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL. I WAS MESSING AROUND WITH IT FOR ABOUT 20 MINTUTES MAX TURNING UP THE BASS ONLY A FRACTION OF THE TIME. I ALSO HAD ANOTHER GUYS CAR JUMPSTARTING ME TO KEEP THE CURRENT HIGH ENOUGH. WELL APARTELY I JUST F**K MY BATTERY UP. EVERYTIME I TURN THE ENGINE OFF IT WILL NOT TURN ON I NEED SOMEONE TO JUMPSTART ME. SO NOW I AM FACING I CAN GET ANOTHER NORMAL BATTERY AND THEN GET A 300 AMP ALTERNATOR . OR SHOULD I GET A POWERMASTER D3100 AND KEEP THE ALTERNATOR.
