Hello, The major part that hornresp does not account for is cabin changes and gains.The program can fully model an enlcosure in an open air environment, wall loaded and multiple stack system, but lacks input parameters for cabin loading, which is basically a box in a box lol. The other part of my design process is more or less experience to know what, where and how.You can easily tailor an enclosure there, but then with enough experience you can shape the enclosure's response around that of the cabin. You may need to spend a good amount of money for materials for trial and error, but in the end it's pretty much worth it. In other words, there is no exact science behind it, and my response is predicted accordingly.
  2. Hello airborne, The ABC enclosure is fairly simple and yields great results. I've tried it on many occasions with good success.It works by adding a second resonance in the enclosure's pass band thus reinforcing a high, low and center frequency.Just like a ported box, you have roll off on all the ports and chambers, so it evens out response along the intended range.You can tune it to peak at one frequency for spl, gain a maximally flat response for sound quality or give a response right in between the two. http://www.diysubwoofers.org/prt/dual_chamber.htm There's a simple and accurate guide to getting it done^^, and it can form the basis for alot more, once you learn how to use it effectively .Give it a try, you may be surprised at what they can accomplish.

Hello guys, This enclosure is an simple rear loaded horn, that uses transmission line theory to achieve it's lowest possible f0 point, then the f3 point.The "ports" you guys think you see at the back are just handles, built around the angles of the loading wall.They are not even, but provide a good grip area as this little enclosure is heavyyyy. The angle at front you're seeing is more like 37degrees.The box has 4 folds on the inside, and each has their own expansion rates which eventually add up to the final horn.The only thing different here, is that we have a compression chamber that loads the horn, and provides good rolloff without sounding like a rock falling to the ground lol.The length of the line was calculated to provide 1/4 wave (degree) phase shift, allowing the front and rear wave of the speaker to be in harmony, and not cancel out each other upon exit, making the single woofer sound like two woofers.The horn then works as an expanded wave guide to bring the efficiency up to 50% as measured and predicted by "hornresp". This is a combined efficiency rating. I once built one of these for a vehicle using one pair of TC T1000 8".On around 1800wrms, at a burp they did 148.9db at 42hz, which is kind of low as compared to what you guys do up here.Please note this was done on IASCA legal windscreen, fully sealed up in a trunk.   5. Hello from trinidad! This is my first post here, so all comments are welcomed!!!! Hi peeps, here's a limited picture thread for a sundown e8 subsonic horn.The enclosure has a usable range of 20hz to 100hz within -/+ 3db, with the horn peaking output at 28 to 30Hz. Due to space constraints, the box's dimensions were 9 x 18 x 34".Here are the pictures!!!- Please note, the pictures were taken as to not show any interior parts, or imply design concept. This is the first time I've used a Sundown Audio E8, and I must say it is quite a decent woofer.It's capable of great output coupled with good smooth sounding bass.The enclosure design suggests power handling at 500wrms straight down to 30hz and then a steady drop to 400wrms at 20hz, considering the actual linear xmax stayed within the 12mm as stated by sundown audio.Please note the speaker's power handling is rated at 200wrms and 400wrms program.The power ratings given here in box are simply that of measured acoustic power over an impedance range where the enclosure itself acts as a passive power filter, this is an advanced design model that has achieved a 50% efficiency rating. After actually hooking it up in the customer's car, the woofer bearly crossed 2mm of xmax before achieving the desired output.It is loud and low, and it got very smooth on transition.   8. so acordingly,we are trying to get the front and rear wave in perfect alignment at the point of the meter hmmmm this sounds alot easier that is really is,it looks extreemly difficult ok so based on q-wave theory, if the rear wave is properly aligned at the meter together to the front wave,we should be able to score a high spl then?
  9. hmmm some nice reading there,very informative but i was thinking and if the rear wave is corrected to a full 360degree, then in theory, i should have no cancellation right?
  10. what is the joke?i'm just asking if i am correct unlike the usa, my country does not have much pure spl vehicles,at present theres only 2-5 cars at most,and information is very limited since no one wants to teach anyone, they all just keep to themselves so if i offended you guys and this forum,i am sorry and will not post again. i guess it will be fair to you guys so i am sorry for the inconvenience to you all yours respectfully krystian seunath
  11. hello,i'm new to the forum,my name is kris and i have been admiring the work posted on this website now i'm an spl competitor in my country-Trinidad and Tobago,and i need a few questions answered if you all don't mind, thanks well i very well acquainted with 1/4 wave theory and straight transmission line boxes and i was wondering if a 1/4 wave corrects the rear wave of a speaker from 180degrees to 270degrees(90degree shift),because from what i've seen, 1/2wave correction will give me a full 360degree shift and ,is it possible to correct to half wave,bringing the rear wave fully aligned to the front wave of 0degrees?, and so if this is done what could be the benefits of it? thanks in advance, krystian seunath
