  1. Well able to get some more progress done on one of the kick pods today. Yes its taking me forever to do them, but I rather take my time and do them properly (what I think is properly). While working on them the sky was awesome.

well now off to the pictures of the pod

Glassed the pegs in so they wouldn't move while I was stretching the fleece over pods.

yes I know there is wrinkles but not as bad as I was thinking there would be. Found out later from Superjay that if I would have pulled the fleece harder I wouldn't have any wrinkles. But with the few that are there I'm satisfied right now.

Now the speaker is in the pod itself. Cut the baffle to fit the outer dimensions of the speaker perfectly.

i wanna see how you are gonna make the hood release accesible

My thoughts exactly, because my friend has a Jetta too.

I have an idea, should find out how I'm going to do it here with in the week. Taking my time with these (and with money permitting)

  3. Well the bases are done going to let them cure for a few more days before I put some chop mat down on them. In the mean time, here are some pics of the finished bases and how the mids should be mounting on them.

    The mids:

Tell me what you think so far. Plan is to eventually run 1 sundown 125.2 per mid

    comments appreiciated

  4. Had a build on here before, but deciding to start fresh on a new log. Going 3 way active with the cda 9887 (trading my double din alpine for it), using a sundown 3000 on the sub stage (either btl's or Q's from Fi). Using also a sundown 125.2 for the mids, and a sundown 100.2 on the planars. For mids I am using some peerless 8's, and using Bohlender neo8 planar tweeters. Enough talking now ontop so pics.

Got the passenger side started yesterday, but have no pics of the process. But do have some of the drivers side

Here is the stock Drivers side kick

Taped it all up in blue painters tape

    104_1912.jpg

Next covered it up in aluminum foil

    104_1913.jpg

Then reinstalled the piece and put more aluminum foil down on top of the carpet and some brown painters paper on the edge

Dont want to get any resin on the carpet.

Mixed up some resin in small cups. Filled them up half way and put in hardener when I was ready to use that specific cup. Note, make sure you wear gloves on this part of the job, you will thankful that you did.

Yes I know its not the greatest resin in the world, but it will do.

Next I started to lay the fiberglass down. Using a 8sq foot pack of woven mat for the base right now. Cut that up into manageable pieces.

For the first layer I laid down a base of resin then laid the fiberglass on top of that and put more resin on the top so it soaked all the way through.

All three cups used so far, and a few more piece of glass to go. Using a halogen lamp right now to keep the area warm since its night out here now.

    104_1918.jpg

that is about 3 layers of glass in the corners and a 2 layers on the outer edges so far. Went out 3 or 4 inches farther than I have to. Easier to cut away then add on later.
