get the gear first, then worry about the box after that LOL, always with the *im gonna get this and that* Buy it build it, blow shit up with it
either way, your moms van will be loud
lol. well i change things because i can't decide. however, the amps i'm sure with, because it'd make more sense. and i know what subs i'm getting. just the box is a issue. but i should have things going, once i sell some stuff. that'll be soon.
-
okay, let me rephrase that and explain......
i will not be running kickers at all, so i do not have to worry about that. now, as for iso style, if boon will make me a box for my 4 12's, then i will not use iso. if he does not, then iso it will be. either way, i will be using 2 seperate amps. dual VC 4OHM X 4 = a 2OHM load. so if i use 2 amps, i can get a 1OHM load to each amp, pushing it full power. hopefully 400W to each.
let me see how things work out with boon before i pick iso or not. either way, i will be using 2 seperate amps.

Kicker highly does not recommend useing SOLO's in an IsO-Baric set up.
I have long talks about it with Kicker as my original plan was 2 RF 1501BS 0n 4 L7s in iso-baric formation and they shot me down hard.
It can be down but the Techs sayed that it usually sound pretty bad. Hence my screen name ISO I love the concept of running iso-baric.
No you don't need 2 amps to make a push pull config you just need to know how to wire your subs.
Sorry for the bad news.
okay, i'm not using kicker. but the 2 amps will not runng be running them iso if boon will make me a box.

so i thought about things, and i realized that 4 dual VC 4OHM subs will get a 2OHM load. with a mono amp, i'd get less. so with a 1600W amp (BXI1606D) i'd end up getting about 1100W. so i thought, why not just run 2 amps? so does anyone think i should run 2 Crunch PZI1000.1 amps? i think it'd be better. grant it, i don't think they put out 1K watts, but that's okay because the subwoofers only handle 600W peak and i don't want to put to much. i just think that each amp to 2 subwoofers would be a good idea. any thoughts?

those subs in those videos move quite a bit, but how long do you expect to play them like that? that much excursion HAS TO put a ton of stress on the woofer's components.
as mentioned, the RE XXX subs do 54mm of ONE WAY excurion. thats over 2 inches of one way movement.
and excursion is important when considering how "low" a subwoofer will play. the greater the excursion, the more likly it will play low(er).
very true that excursion can tell how "low" a subwoofer can go. but idk how well that FS3 thing would perform. to me, it looks like crazy excursion, but not much bass.
-
My Funky Pup Plays a .5Hz tone at 170db's with only 1mm of excursion.
careful! i heard that if you play 10 at the same time, you'll blow up the world! and 3 in a truck will tear your doors off!

-
all i can say is wow. just wow.
-
well i think the FS3 thingy has some major excursion. more then the others but i could be wrong.
-
WOOO! he laid it DOWN in this one! i think eminem is sweet and this just proves, he has one SICK of a mind. in a good way.
-
i thought about this a couple nights ago. same thing, a hummer limo. i think it'd be a sweet idea. have a company do it and it be their truck. like a sundown or RF or Kicker or IA hummer limo. filled with stuff.
-
well i know some of them can detect most cops. and if a cop happens to not have one, so be it. but most of my cops aren't driving around. they sit and wait. but i saw a company called whistler or something close to that i believe. it seemed pretty good. they were higher priced, so i guess i will wait and save up and get one. but there happens to be a thing with speeding in my family, so it'd work for speeding too, not just audio.
-
so how many of you guys use radar detectors? i was thinkin about gettin one just in case a cop happens to be near and i have my music on. i figure $40 from walmart won't kill me. but how many of you guys use them for you system?
-
WOOO! talk about sexy! and i don't mean you. still running off 800W?
-
K. If only because it stops you trying to make a stupid iso-bandpass box.
Maximum dimensions, vehicle, any particular requirements?
I'm going to get on the piss bigtime tonight so it'll have to be tomorrow.
wow. O.O okay man. umm....3 feet wide, 3 feet tall, by 3 feet long. i can go a bit higher if need be. after all, it is a minivan.
thanks in advance man. and sorry about eariler.
EDIT: it's a 2001 dodge grand caravan sport. i'm taking out the third row seats. and not low tuning. maybe 33HZ?
-
YES! THAT'S IT! and it's now available. and i know it doesn't come into play much, but they're still sexy to see move.
-
there was one on youtube, but i can't seem to find it again. it had boston acoustic on the dust cap, but it wasn't by any brand. just another prototype. it had some HUGE excursion though.
-
so i was wondering, which sub has the most excursion out of all the brands? i was thinking the JL W7 but i can't be sure.

What's the point in isobaric loading them? If the box sounds right with 2 subs then it'll be terrible with 4. When you isobaric a pair of subs you halve the required box volume. That's the ONLY reason you would ever do it. Ever. People only use them for tight spots like center console boxes and home theater subs when you want good low-end extension without a rediculous sized box.
All isobaric loading is going to do for you is make your subs unload. It's like taking a 12" sub that's in a 2 cube box and plays well and sticking it in a 4 cube box. It'll be a little more efficient but it'll sound like wet shit in a paper bag because it will have no cone control.
I get the feeling you just want to do isobaric because it sounds cool, with no idea of the technical reasoning behind it. It's a complete waste of the second 2 subs.
alright, sorry if i sound snobby, but once again, I'M NOT DESIGNING THE BOX!!!!!!! if you wish, you can design a 4 12" slot port box design for 4 12" HFI12D4 subwoofers. i am not doing the round port. idc if that's what they tell me to do. so if you want to design me a box for 4 12's that is slot port, please do and i will use that.

kent is about 90 miles from me. i will go up but i doubt i'll enter. the car is not ready for big competitions if it ever will.
sweet. this will be my first comp, so i can't wait.
-
for bass on a pc i honestly just recommend a good set headset
well i'm running 4 6.5s off an amp, and soon gonna get 2 12" VR3's from wally world. it's all cheap stuff, but it gets me by so i'm happy.
-
are you using media player? did you install any other codec files?
yea, media player. and i had to install another codec because it couldn't find it. i got it to kinda work now. sometimes it'll work, other times it won't. idk what to do.
-
gonna ask once or twice more. anyone goin to DB drag in august? just wonderin
-
Just wire the 'push' subs normally and the 'pull' subs reverse polarity...
EDIT: And don't get it wrong or hilarity ensues.
Also isobaric sucks unless you HAVE to use it to fit in a small box.
well, i'm not really designing my own boxes. so the box will look like this with the 2 at first. then when i get the second set, all i have to do is add them like this so it's isobaric. but i should just stick with a mono amp and just reverse the polarity on 2? that seems pretty easy.
-
so either 1 4 channel amp or 2 2 channel amps? GAH! i hate figuring it all out.
so i can get 1 4 channel amp and be good, correct? because i think i might just do that.
