  1. What clip light?

    on the AQ gain knob..

OrionStang has a thread on this. I didn't really follow it though. I've experienced the same thing.

I think the clip light is just premature.

When I set my gains, I know the tone was clean, but the DD1 said I had no clipping, while the clip light said EVERYTHING was clipped.

  2. Usually red top optima battery are good for starting vehicle not for audio

    [noob]

I don't know man. Compared to the Yellow Top, the capacity is lower, but isn't the discharge rate higher? I would think 90% of the time you're listening to your system, if the engine is on, you aren't running tremendous amounts of power, and your electrical system is anywhere near how it should be, you wouldn't need all the "extra" reserve capacity. You would need something that would supply power for almost instantaneous spikes in power draw.

  3. the quote about advetising maccas in wnedys refers to the fact that on SMD there are so many top brands and when you ask questions and get answers fro t3 for however long say 2 hrs as an example you spend 2 hrs of yout itime helping and as a thank you they go an d buy a sundown or a dc or whatever its not a dig at SMD or the other brands

all it is saying is tha they are moving in a more targeted advetsing move at the moent with the realease of the new designed products as al the old stuff is now end of line gear

semd logical to me why swim in a shark tank with heaps of other sharks when you can swim in a goldfiash bowl and be the only shark

    Ren

I personally think that's a fairly crappy excuse, and I genuinely hope that's not the reason he decided to leave here.

By the same token, he isn't the only one here that happens with. How many threads have you seen someone ask about Damp. Pro and then haul off and buy AudioTechnix/FatMat/Peel and Seal (lol)? Or ask about Ascendant Audio, only to end up buying DC? That's just the nature of forums, the internet, and shopping in general.

  4. Maybe its just because everyone in my house is hella allergic to mold, so I tend to avoid fucking with it unless I have to, but I'd just scrap it and buy a $30 sheet of MDF.

I understand wanting to save a buck or two, but seriously, $30 now or many, many times that in potential medical bills?

And to be honest, I really doubt even resining the sheet would replace enough of the glue that washed away for it to be solid enough to really use for box building. It now looks as if it would be 1 inch low density fiberboard. I'm no expert when it comes to wood though, so take that with a grain of salt.

    tl;dr just buy new wood.

  5. is the equivalent volume[vas] not what i should be going off of?

    d417d017.jpg

I think that's the volume of air the cone moves. I could be (and likely am) wrong.

EDIT: Reading around a bit, it seems as if vas is the amount of air equal to the amount of force needed to move the spider? Is that a correct understanding?

My 12 inch level 4 only displaces .18 cubic feet.

  6. I bought a CDA-9886 from him. This thing was packaged better than items I've bought off of actual retailers. There is no doubt in my mind that FedEx could have dropped this thing, kicked it around a bit, and it still would have arrived in perfect condition. Shipping was hella fast. I sent the money through PayPal, and not an hour later, he sent me the tracking number. He is a hella agreeable guy.

In the interest of full disclosure, there was a slight problem with the radio. I'll admit, its 100% plausible that it was a complete accident; I can see how someone would overlook testing a part of the radio that never got used. To be honest, I almost didn't check it myself.

Instead of doing like a select few sellers I've seen on here, and giving me the run around, pointing fingers, and generally being difficult to deal with, he reimbursed me some of the cost of the radio.

I would DEFINITELY do business with this guy again.

  7. I don't know why you get so bent out of shape when someone doubts you or questions what you do... Fuck what everyone thinks... You had one of the greatest minds around help you on this project, so fuck what the haters think... It just keeps them going...

oh wow... for once i agree with this guy^

who knew that day would come?

Second time I've seen someone post that.

I just can't wait until I get mine in. ^_^

  8. The remote for my M1a (which is the same remote) doesn't work when you go past half way. Its like 12 o'clock is 100%.

I just live with it, especially since the last half of the dial is a whole 'nother twist (two sets of turns to go from nothing to full blast).

Try calling/emailing AQ and seeing if they will let you replace it.

  9. if not on budget, saz2500 or something similar too it. You want to send around 1000wrms on it.

    to a sa 10!!??

    Yes, to an SA10.

However, if I were you, I'd stick with something closer to RMS. I'd find something in the 500-800 wrms range.

Could it take more? Hell yeah. But over powering a subwoofer on that level will (IMO) take a bit more experience than I believe you have.

  10. So a heavier motor means more pushing power then?

Not necessarily. That stronger motor could be pushing a heavier cone, or it could (and probably does) have a stiffer suspension (spider(s)). Probably shouldn't need to worry about it too much imo. If you want to try something new get the obsidians and give us a review, or get a stand by like some lvl 3's, or sa. You can't really go wrong with any of them.

This. AT the same time however, that heavier magnet may not even be as strong as a lighter one. Two things come to mind. Supercharged motors (I know DD has them I think DC does as well) and Neodymium magnets.

And if a motor can be "supercharged" then I also would think one can be "undercharged".

And pound for pound, generally speaking, neodymium magnets will be stronger than ferrite.

  11. ok on the amplifier is a signal in and a signal out ,wen i using the amplifier out to the second amplifier signal in , wil do this signal gets louder and quieter play with the basremote on the first amplifier ??????

yes my englisch is bad but i try

I can't tell you with absolute certainty that it will cut them both using the factory remote. Try it and find out.

I can tell you that using the LC1 it will.
