  1. I forgot what the box is tuned to haha!!! And I made it, you would think I know huh? hah... I really like lows.. so I know I tuned it somewhere 30-33hz. 40hz Sounded like straight ass, so I had my LP on 40 and my sub on 25.....( you never really know exactly where it is.....) The box was way over specs. Now I got a old school kicker in my truck ... temporary... but I went active on my front stage CDT setup yesterday and thought for sure I was going to blow something....... dammmnnnnn sounds GOOD!!! if finnaly gets loud as hell after eliminating those weak melted xovers!
  2. yeah at 30hz.. it sounded good though... not the airy "oh shit its about to blow" sound...
  3. Oh I did have it in a 4 cu ft box, tuned to 30hz... That might be why too. IT just sounded A LOT better than the 2.25/2.5 reccommended in my quad cab truck..
  4. Could someone point me in a good direction for instructions on a re-cone?
  5. Damn lol... I bet it was that shitty soundstream line driver pushing a distorted signal into my sundown..... because I doubt 1500 watts would kill it.. i think.
  6. What would a burnt coil be caused by? No I know AC voltage is what comes out, but ive also heard of things shorting in amps and DC voltage coming out and ruining the speaker. It is a single BTL so I know all the connections were good... Do you possibly know if its coverd by warrenty, I bought it from Fi in November of 2008. (5 mos ago i think)
  7. So A few weeks ago, I am driving down the road and banging a loud 30hz tone on my 12" BTL. The tone gets weaker and weaker over a 10 second run and I smell it.... the burning smell.. the blown speaker smell. IT completely stopped working. So I took it out and examined it. It looks 100% fine, tinsel leads still good. clean motor etc I hooked a 6x9 up to my amp to test for possible DC voltage coming out of the speaker terminals, and the 6x9 played correctly. Any ideas?
  8. Yeah thats what I thought too. It's port area is 96 sq in opening, 15 in deep. Sounded kinda odd but its what Kicker recommended, and It actually turned out very, very good. Its got a real flat response from 29~40hz. ITs kicker L7s. Anyone ever heard of using the top and side posts at the same time on a battery ? So im doing 2 runs of zero from the back to the battery bank....... What about from the batteries to the amps? 2 runs? Cuz thats where it was getting hot at.. thats the wire that melted yesterday.
  9. I have 3 batteries, all connected positive and negative with 0. So add another negative AND positive run.. or just positive. ? And I have them wired in parralel. 3 2x4ohm subs in parralel = .67 ohms.
  10. Alright so I have three DVC 4 ohm subs hooked up to a sundown 3000d. Its three kicker l7 15" in a 18 cu ft box tuned to 33hz. It was hitting DAMN hard yesterday and I went to feel the Raptor Zero guage wire I used and it was kinda hot, so we gave it a rest and powered it up again late night, came back to look and the fuse fused to the fuse holder, and the positive wire was 5 minutes away from melting into the negative run ( I did one run neg/pos each batt to batt to batt) . Sooo... what I think I should do is: Sundown suggests a 300 amp external fuse(no internal fuses provided), so maybe upgrade to a 350? Also, do another run of zero guage? and just hook it up to the front side posts on my optimas seeing that I have a stinger 0/0 2 port terminal thats already occupied. I'm just checking my thinking, if anyone has any suggestions let me know. Thanks.
  11. its going in a king ranch expedition. 27 CDT speakers, 3 kicker L7 15's. I'm working on a build log but im not done yet so many pictures. But if I got this right... you said fuse positive line at main battery(engine batt) then again on the first rear battery... then before the amps? here is the electrical schematics: Thats a lot of fuses. Is it really necessary to fuse all that? I'd like to just fuse the long run (front to back ) and fuse the amps.
  12. Alright I have the stock front battery in a 06 expedition... I'm hooking that up to two optima yellow tops in the back.. the batterys are 3 feet away from eachother like shown in the picture so I cant use a buss bar. Where should I fuse this.... fuse everywhere? or just fuse going into the amp? by the way, its gonna have a sundown 3000d and 3 kicker l7 15", sundown 100.4 on cdt components.
