just barely negative on bass. Its stock, i'm thinking maybe a gain setting on the hi-lo converter.
-
Its the Massive Audio Nano Block N2 (800w RMS). Gain I believe is below half now, I was turning it down as I was driving. Box is tuned to around 32hz. about 1.5 cubes per sub with a 2in pvc port for each.
Thanks

So I threw my Hifonics 12's in a ported box, and I smell burnt/burning coil all the time now. Unless I turn it down to the point they aren't moving any air. Burned CDs, radio, bought CDs... no matter what I smell coil. They are still bumping and no change in resistance. Any ideas???
Thanks,
Matt

haha dude thats awesome. a kid that I went to school with got in a wreck on his way to our senior prom.

I searched but I couldn't find anything specific most of it was other dealers. I saw them advertised on here and assumed they were a good company, but I guess I was wrong. I guess he'll do some more waiting. lol

Has anyone used dealercostcaraudio.com? One of the kids I went to high school with wanted some subs. I was gonna wire it up and he ordered the subs in about Oct. 2009 if I remember correctly. The subs were back-ordered, then he finnaly canceled the order but hasn't gotten his money back or the subs. If anyone has a connection and can help him out PM me for the order #.

Well I got a new amp. I got a Sony Xplod ZR1252B 800watt max. I know its an Xplod, but for $20 I have a 4 year protection plan. Best Buy will replace or fix it if it fries, shorts out, etc. It seems like a decent amp for 1 or 2 10"s. How do sony amps hold up? I know their head units suck.
-
alright, well it looks like i'm looking for a new amp.
thanks
-
K well i opened up the amp and found a burn and what looks to be a screw that gorund the board to the case. If the case isn't grounded would that throw it into protect?
Burn
The Ground Screw???

so I pulled the cover off and there is a nickle-sized smoke/black mark on the board by a resistor. So back to what is a good cheap amp, 800-1400 watts, 4,2,or 1 Ohm, and under $150?
-
its a single 4 ohm.
-
4 maybe 2 ohm. 800-1400 watts. under $150.
-
well what amp would you recommend caddy, that is cheap? What about Soundstorm?
-
it has a 4 gauge power from the battery and 4 gauge ground. I kno i should have the ground hooked up first but I dont always listen to myself. lol
-
damn that amp was gonna be my cheap $25 way out of buying a new amp.
-
i kno the woofer is good. i'm pretty confident in the ground. checked the amp fuse. what would be bad in the amp?
-
as soon as i touch the ground to it it goes to protect.

I made my first box. It has a pioneer 10" and a SPL Audio Series I amp that I bout off of a friend that was sitting in his room. I finally got to test it today but it is showing me the protect light. Its not the RCAs and I've tried 3 different grounds. Any suggestions???

I haven't had another chance to check for the 12v again. I had already tried to find a 12v that's what I was referring to. The LED to speaker was a question for a Sub box I am building. I was thinking about LED the pulse to the music. I know they have modules that do it, but I was wondering. But I would like to thank those who stood up for me. I know I'm not an expert, but the kid who wanted me to hook these up knows that too, but it is s hell of a lot cheap than most shops. The Duals I put in a Blazer, 5 months and the LEDs still work. Not the best sound quality but they light up. lol. That's all some people care about.

Oh and I would never half ass some thing in a customers car. This kid is getting a deal. We wired a head unit, 4 speakers, and a sub/amp. All wires are hidden. We had most of the interior out hiding the wiring. We only charged him $60 for labor. we had about 12+ hours in it. Every connection is soldered and heat shrinked.

i was never questioning anyone's experience. I was just curious. Mostly for myself. I'm getting ready to build a new box for my firebird. one side is gonna be plexiglass, I think... and I was gonna light the inside with LEDs.
-
no, i just want to know what would happen? would they even work? i know how LEDs work and how speaker output alternates, but would the LEDs flash or just not work?
-
ok. I was planning on just running another power line. just out of curiosity what would happen if u hooked up the LEDs to the speaker lines?
-
trust me i test lighted with 3 different grounds and couldn't find one keyed, but no that i think about it i dont think my friend turn on the key. oops. the kid we installed them for bought the duals. yes it is an infinity system, but they all were blown. sry about asking i was just wondering if anybody had prior knowledge to make it easier on me.
thanks

Well I was holding off on the aftermarket headunit. I was going for a sleeper look.
Guess I'll start looking for a headunit. I threw a Audiobahn 15" in and there wasnt any smell though?
That's why I was confused. Any ideas on how to set the gain on the Hi-Lo converter for the time being?
Thanks Again guys
