  1. Alright. 2 runs it is then. 300a alt and some batts. Due to money, i may do enough batts on the first part just for the first part, then when stage two comes i may finish it. Im only 20 and the next3-5 months ill be taking classes at acoustic edge, and thas m-f 9-5, so i wont be able to work, which blows. Hopefully ill have a nice sized tax return, should be enough to get half of the shyt i need (speakers and amp wise). Is there a brand of HO alt anyone can reccomend. The vehicle this is going in is a 2000 chevy blazer with the 4.3L V6
  2. ive been thinkin when i do my new setup i may need to do this. my current system isnt anything special, but ive gotten pulled over for it before. The cops in my town arent bad, but some areas around me they can impound your car and ticket you $500. But thats in a kinda ghetto area. Im thinking a hidden toggle switch could possibly get me outta some shit. just If i think im gunna get pulled over hit the switch and say, officer, it couldnt have been me, my shits busted, has been for a while, lol.
  3. Since they are all practically the same, is there one you would reccomend or does it not matter? How do they compare in price?
  4. Do you think I could get away with a single run of 1/0 or should i be looking at some 3/0 or a double run of 1/0? This build is going to take some time to save up all the cash for the compoents and what not. Ill probably do it in stages. Im trying to figure out how many stages and what to do in each. I can almost gaurentee that the subs and amps will be split into two stages unless i hit the lotto, lol, probably gunna spend all my tax refund and spare cash on this. If you guys would like to give me any input on the order in which to do things, that would also be appreciated. Possible order: Stage 1: 2 AQ HDC3 15s 1 amp (sundown/aq/ab? still not decided) Whatever wiring will be needed, upgrade the batt under the hood and get atleast one group 31 batt for the back. Stage 2: HO alt and more batts Stage 3: final 2 subs and a 2nd amp and build a new box. That sound like a decent way to go?
  5. dont have any experience with Atomic, but i have a ? for you. How do you like that VLF? Im lookin at doing a new system and am lookin at either VLFs, Atomic, AudioQue, Sundown, possibly Diablo, maybe Hifonics Goliath XXV, just found this company called cactus sounds (hoping to find more info) and another called Adassa Audio (again, hoping to find more).
  6. nvm, soon as i posted this i found it, im retarded. I tried typing in everything besides atomic loudspeakers when searching on google. Fuck me i feel dumb now.
  7. Ive been searching the web for longer than i care to try and find a company's website trying to find one for Atomic. Does it even exist? Please, if you know the address to their site, or to a site that sells them at a good price that has the price posted, please help me out.
  8. If i go with sundown I would have to go with a refurbed. I dont always have an issue with refurbed, just when i know verry little about the company that is making the product (though ive only heard good things) and is it refurbed by the people who run db-r or is it refurbed by sundown? Thats the only thing that would kinda turn me off. One of the reasons i was looking at AQ is because, though i will probably never see that full 7k (not sure i wanna do that to those subs even though ive been told theyll handle it), ill have the ability to hit that full 7k. Also, when the voltage drops below 14.x volts ill still be making my 5k, well, fairly sure i will be. TBH i could possibly pick up a pair of those crunches for less than the cost of a single sundown or AQ amp. Not too sure on the cost of the higher powered VLF modles, but the guy at a store wanted 550 for either the 110 or 120 (cant rememeber which) but ive gotten quoted at less from the same person who i could possibly get the crunch amps from. Any advice on the electrical upgrades required? When talking about this kinda power i really dont know what to do as far as upgrades.
  9. SAZ-3000Ds and hellfires are outta my price range for a pair of em. I could do a pair of AQ3500Ds or 2200Ds. Ive also been looking at the VLFs (VLF500.1 or a pair of VLF 200.1s) by american bass and the crunch GP3000Ds. I might be able to get a pretty good price (damn near at cost or at cost + shipping) on the VLFs and GP3Ds. I realize that the pair of hellfires would cost as much as a pair of AQ3500Ds, but if i go with the dollar per watt ration, its a better deal for me to go with the AQ amps. Is there a website for atomic? I cant seem to find one. I got a quote for around 1500 for the atomic 5kw, but the guy originally gave me a price in Trinidad dollars, so i dont think ill be going through them since either its bullshit and hes stealing my money, or ill be paying out the ass in shipping. Now, i realize this isnt going to be a cheap install. The subs are going to run me about a grand for 4 of em. Amps are not cheap, and neither is wiring or batts, alternator and dual alt bracket and all that jazz. What all would i need to do to my electrical system in order to be able to run this kinda power? Also, im going to be doing either a 3way comp set or 2 2way comp sets up front. Ill need to be powering those also (thinking maybe VLF 160.4) so i can still hear my mids and highs. Im guessing this is going to call for quite a bit of electrical upgrades. Currently i have a stock batt, stock 110A alt and a run of 4ga. Im thinkin ill need 2 runs of 1/0, maybe a single run of 3/0 (dont really see people running 3/0 so why not do something different if itll work) a HO alt (how many amps though and maybe a dual alt setup in my blazer) and more batts. Oh ya, and also lookin at a MLA module so the alts will be puttin out about 15.5V. Is this overkill or will this be sufficient, or will i need more? I dont mind slight dimming, but i dont want crazy dimming of the lights and i really dont want the stereo to cut off due to huge voltage drops. Now, looking at all this, its not going to be cheap, so Im thinking this may be done in parts. Start off with a pair of the 15s and one amp, do the wiring/electrical so it will handle the full setup (or atleast the 2 subs, one amp and leave out the 2nd alt till i do the next stage), this way i can have the electrical done (or atleast mostly done) and only have to do it once.
  10. Alright, im lookin at gettin ready for my next setup that ill be installing this year. Originally i was gunna go with a pair of Fi BL 18s, but now im leaning towards 4 AQ HDC3 15s. Im wanting to push around 5-6k RMS total. Im thinking either one big amp or a pair of amps. Im not trying to go too outrageously expensive here. I mean, a pair of AQ2200Ds would do the job just fine and be around $800. Im trying to keep it to no more than $1500 for the amp(s) since ill already be dropping around a grand on subs, and probably a grand on electrical upgrades. Since were on the topic of electrical upgrades. To run this much power (not counting what will be being put out to my mids and highs) what am i going to want to do as far as electrical upgrades. The car is a '00 blazer with a stock batt, stock 110A alt and a single run of 4ga. I know im going to need a HO alt (maybe a dual alt setup?), big 3 in 1/0, atleast one run of 1/0 to the back and finally the extra batteries. Depending on how much this is all gunna cost, i may do it in stages, ex. start off with a pair of HDC3s and an amp for them, then do the electrical upgrades and what not, and once thats all done, all ill have to do is save up enough for 2 more subs and an amp since the electrical will already be solid. Now for another ? i just thought of. If im running that much power (havent heard a system over 1kw in my area and the 1kw system is in my blazer) will sound deadener even do anything? I mean, will it still help get rid of the rattles if im using that much power?
  11. thats just the system in my s10 i do have an spl eclipse. 2 18 inch fi btl's fully loaded powered by 2 4000.1 rockford amps. a eight in each door along with a set oh 6 1/2 components. 2 sets of tweets and a 4inch in my a pillars. a t4004 powering my doors and 2 p2002 powering my teets and mids in the pillars. also 6 batteries and 2 iragi alts. so honestly how do you think that im the beginner that you thought i was. PICS OF ECLPISE NOW!!!!! Did you jump over here from another forum? I saw an eclipse with a wall and a pair of, iirc, Fi BTLs, pretty badass little SPL vehicle.
  12. i thought AA was ascendant audio, but i dont know much about them, didnt realize they made anything but subs.
  13. sorry but im kinda new to the whole mids and highs thing. What are the AA carbons you speak of and where can i find them? So far ive been looking at using seas or dayton, heard good things about both, and possibly morel tweeters for a 3way set. But idk how to match up all the speakers and crossovers so i would know how much to give them.
  14. ^^^definately, im debating weather or not i wanna save up for the polyglass line or if i wanna try and make my own comp. set from parts express and what not
  15. at some point in the upcomming months i may be in need of 2 of the 2500s, any chance you may be able t help a blazer brother out? (thinkin 4 15" Fi SSD subs)
  16. wow, didnt realize what they go for, heard a nice price today, might have to call him up and order one, lol.
  17. I will agree with what they said, a bit bright but overall awesome speakers, especially for the money, Ive been tryin to figure out what i wanna do for my front stage, these are one of the top contenders.
  18. If you dont mind me asking, how cheap is cheap and where? Im going to be in the market for some new amps, and I stopped by a shop today in Indianapolis cuz im out here visiting my grandparents, and the guy highly reccomended this amp. He said he isnt a fan of the crunches that are below the GP3kD, but he likes that one, and this is a guy who doesnt like much from the conversation we had, well, hes just really really...REALLY picky.
  19. ^^^i went and looked, theyre great prices. Im going to be doing this build in the next 4-6 months, so i dont need the amp yet, and dont yet have the money for it.
  20. damn, why cant i have money right now? Those look like some great prices, and ive heard good things about the sundowns. how about the AQs? Any good/worth the money?
  21. thanks, but i wish i had the money right now. Im taking courses at acoustic edge the next 3-4 months and ill be broke, so its not gunna happen for a few months. Im thinking of maybe trying to run a single amp. Well, which would have less current draw on the car's electrical system as a whole, 1 amp or two? When i finally go to do the new install, if you still got those amps, id be glad to buy them off you.
  22. So im going to be doing a new system, and am trying to figure out what its gunna cost me, so im trying to look around for amps and see what ill be needing. Ive heard these subs can handle well over heir rated power. So far Im looking at Hifonics Brutus series, AQ2200D or the 3k version, or american bass VLF 110 or 120 amp. Im open to other suggestions. Id like to have one amp for both subs. Im looking for somethin that is going to be a good reliable product and if possible not cost too much (over 1k for the amp itself). I have a '00 blazer 4dr with a stock 110A alt and a stock batt (been replaced but its not a red/yellow top or anything fancy.). I realize ill be needing to upgrade the alt, big 3 in 1/0, and 1/0 for the batt to the amp. But as far as H.O. alts and 2nd batts, what should i be looking at? Also, im planning on getting a module from MLA. What would be a good voltage to have that set at? I was thinking maybe 15.3 or so, but i really dont know too much about electrical upgrades in a car, so idk if thats enough/too much. Anyway, any and all helpful input is greatly appreciated.
  23. i think by 1/4 Ohm, they mean its a 2 ohm DVC, and can be run at 1 or 4 ohm
  24. for an suv, definately chevy. Suburban will leave you with lotsa room for a big stereo...Tahoe will too. I came home last night to find a new hoe sittin in my driveway, mom traded in her jeep commander for an '08 tahoe. Nice trucks. Only way i would buy a ford SUV is if i could find an excursion with a powerstroke in it.
