THIS IS GREAT (the OP i mean, not the 11 year old, thats a tragedy that could and should have been prevented)
N8, i fully load MOST of my guns when i shoot them for the first time, but thats because they only hold 2 rounds, almost all my guns are 12ga O/Us.
-
This is why i have a fused distribution block, i can just pull the fuses there instead of under my hood, which is nice since i have a monoblock and a 4ch
-
i zoomed in, couldnt tell if they were 10 or 40, resolution isnt high enough...
EDIT: According to the website, 3x40A fuses.

Gotta work down the line. H/U, eq, then amp.
Well i would be stupid to ignore the same advice from two different people, haha. Thanks guys.
its all good, but its signal flow man. Check from the start and work your way down the line. In this case, start at HU, go to EQ/XO, then amp...

i know you werent saying anyting about the BRZ. My point was (originally) that you dont have to have enough power necessarily, no, you wont get ALL you can out of a woofer, but somtimes part of a sub is better than everything a different sub may have to offer. Personally, its always better to overpower in my opinion, since you can always turn it down. If i get a Zcon, ill run it off my BRZ till i can afford a bigger amp...
-
alma gates is my hero, lol. I wsh my granny was that cool.
-
Yeah thats why im saying if he is going to upgrade to 2500rms really soon, then go for that type of sub. But if not to me it makes no sense with that amp.
define soon though...some of us cant afford to buy things often. I know if/when i get an Xcon or Zcon, ill be running i off my BRZ until i can afford a better amp.
-
All im saying is that he has 1000rms on tap with that amp at 1 ohm so why not go for something like a sundown sa 15 and get the max out of it. Even a kicker L7, cvx, audioque sdc2.5 or hdc. Many cheaper options.
Box is most important and setting amp right (his mojo burned)
maybe he plans to upgrade his power in the future, if thats the case, why buy subs twice?
-
Just hope that the op does not think that amp does what it says it does.
Because at that wattage get something more efficient in that range. mayhem is a beast and can take more than the 2500rms so putting a 1000rms amp on it makes no sense unless he will upgrade in the future.
haha, totally, IIRC, the sensitivity on the Xcon 15 is like 89-91 dB 1w/1m the Zcon is 93dB 1w/1m but both will take lots of power
-
SSA Xcon or Zcon is what im leaning towards next personally.
-
Yeah, its possible, hope you got DEEP pockets....lexan is expensive, lexan that thick....holy balls....
-
It 0.5cuft net so your box will have to be 0.6cuft gross,
I wouldn't use Polly fill
Do you have the space to port it?
i do hsve space to port it. i have a 02 2dr blazer. just trying to go more towards sound quality and compactness. i usually run 12's ported.. the problem for me with ported is i listen such a large variation in music. lot of hip-hop, metal, classic rock, some trance/electonic .
So do i, and i run 2 12s ported, had them in my blazer and now my lancer. The subs do the job on everything, but my mids cant always keep up and blend that well...I listen to a LOT of electronic music, downtempo, trip hop, trance, hardstyle.

This amp will give 900W RMS at 2 ohm:
http://www.sonicelec...BRZ1200.1D.html
Decent quality and price.
The MRP-M1000 has a proven record of entering protect mode and overheating, if you want something from them pick another series.
Ill second this, i am now a fan of the BRZ line, i have a BRZ1700 at 2 ohms and it sounds pretty good too.
-
IIRC the amp you have puts out 1k RMS at 2 ohms....what is the vc config of your subs? 1k to that pair should be fine, could use more, but it'll do.
-
If you ran the same RCAs to an amp and go nothing, try swapping out RCA cables, if still nothing, see if your RCA outs are turned on...actually, do that first..., if they are on, and swapping cables doesn't work, your RCA outs don't work.
-
Restructure your question, i can't make sense of what you're asking really....part of it needs to be in mids/highs (which speakers will keep up). Are you trying to figure out how to run active off your HU or what?
-
you need to set the gains on the crossover, then reset them on your amp
-
after seeing the pair on that NS-1, and the free air test, I'm pretty confident they would hold up to 800-1k in the right enclosure....i just don't know a lot about 4th orders, how does this one look? If anything I'm thinking add a bit of space to the ported side....current design is about half as deep as i can go, but full height and width....
-
I may have to pick one of those up then....run it at 2 ohms, give it some decent power....heres what I've got drawn up so far (mostly cuz i can't sleep for shit cuz my back is a wreck right now)
sealed chamber is .6 ported is 1.4 tuned to 47Hz, 31 sq in of port....This hasn't been run through winISD or BBP yet, this is just me being bored and trying out the theory i know...
-
I've seen someone run an NS-1 on a pair of SA-8's, and they seem to take it fine.
was that daily? what kinda box? I'm talking for a daily setup...
-
These are fairly cheap, and I'm bored...i designed a 4th order for one of these, 1.4 cubes tuned to 47Hz 31 sq in of port and a sealed chamber of .6 cubes. I can give up a lot more room, but i kinda want to experiment with one of these little guys, see what it can do, and give a try at 4th orders also...I know one SA8 in a 4th order probably won't be as loud as my 2 12s in a 4 cube box tuned to 33 Hz, but I'm curious as to what it can do...how much power can one of these handle? Does this sound like a decent enclosure to you guys? Overall external dims would be 12 3/4 x 17 x 30. Might be nice to have some of my trunk back....but still have good bass....does this sound like a reasonable 4th order design? No, the port would not be adjustable, so to change tuning id have to build a new box...still gotta run it through BBP or winISD, but my back is acting up and i can't sleep, so far tonight I've designed a 4th order for a 12" Xcon (i really want to try that, or just get a 15 and port it) and this 4th order for the SA-8. Also, in an enclosure like this, what kinda power could one of these guys handle? I have a BRZ 1700 (it obviously won't take this things full force, i would most likely run it at either 2 or 4 ohms depending on what this woofer can actually take.

I have heard a pair of HDC 15's and they're loud, peaky, close your throat up subs. If you listen to a lot of rap they can make you smile. If you want detailed, warm, smooth, then these are not the sub for you.
Oh and before people say they don't or do get low, they'll play whatever frequency the box allows them to. Tune it low and it will murder lows (but people tend to say that you can tune them around 38 and somehow be loud in the high 20's. I doubt that seriously).
Thanks for the info but what exactly do you mean peaky??? and most of my friends do listen to a lot of rap and hip hop. I know what you mean about the enclosure too. Here where I live, kicker L7's are cream of the crop ( if you don't have them you're not cool ) and Ive heard some in pre fab boxes that sound real crappy and Ive also heard some in properly designed boxes that make them sound pretty damn loud and get low as hell. I like the subs but for like 350 a piece for 15's ( local shop price ) I could get a FI BL or a nice sundown or something.
Peaky as in....some frequencies will be louder than others. If you played a sweep, it would get louder at some point. 99.99999% of all sub setups have a peak, so it's not a bad thing, but if you're looking for smoothness then the HDC ain't for you. It's not a bad subwoofer at all. It's actually very good at what it does (which is getting LOUD). I didn't like the way they sounded but that's just me.
I saw a video on youtube last night, I guy running 2 HDC 10"s from the trunk pulling 146.9
Another forum showed a build in a small suv with 2 hdc310's doing 153's no shit, he had 5k on them
Cuz they get fucking LOUD. We never metered the setup but they made it hard to breathe on just an AP1500d. They were tuned to 36 and peaked hard as hell (output dropped dramatically at about 32hz and under). I'm sure we could've rebuilt the box to make it smoother but there was no need, they were loud and the owner was happy.
EDIT: Oh and purplesyrup don't let burp scores give you a boner. Like the guy above me said one SA-8 has hit a 50 before but would you buy one and expect to do 45's on music? Nope. You're looking for daily performance so don't get sucked into burp numbers.
Ohhh okay, I get it now thanks man. Okay So I know sealed boxes give a way smoother frequency response curve. I know it won't be as loud but would you say this would help the peakyness and still get decently loud?
HDC3s dont like sealed.

this is true man....its the stiff ass suspension on those woofers. I have sat in a LOT of AQ setups, all tuned high that POUNDED the lows. alot of the guys are on the caco forum, mlstrass on here is one of the guys, 4 15" HDC3As off 4 AQ3500s, that thing was murderous...as was jokers car...his thing got LOW and was punishing, sat in it at Lake Zurich a few years back at a show...that whole crew is a good group of guys, if you can get a hold of them, they should be able to help you out a ton.

where do you live, OK? I was in stillwater, OK for a year and a half at OK state for school, Kicker had a plant right across the lake from the disc golf course.

got any links on where you learned how to do what you're doing? Ive wanted to tinker with amps for a while. My buddy has an old RF1000.1 that made 1k at 2 ohms, something was wrong with it, not sure what exactly, but i wanted to tear it apart and play with it. Also, i had a cheap kenwood die on me recently, since its dead, and past warranty, I'm not afraid of fucking with it, but id like to know what I'm doing....at least a little bit.
