  1. its always best you do that, for future builds incase you want to go bigger... and that is how i have my batteries set up in my car *same way you drew it* it works fine imo... but i think your supposed to only have the ground and power wire for the amp be less than 18" away or so?

    k. eventually i will do the big 3 i guess. The ground wire from the amp will be close.

  2. You also need to ground that amp either to chassis or to the negative terminal on the battery in the trunk. You should also fuse the 1/0 wire that goes from hood to trunk. Put a fuse within 18 inches of the battery on each end of the cable. so one fuse under the hood and one under the trunk. That way if that cable gets pinched and you ground that baby out, it won't start your car on fire.

    is this better?

  3. You want the same size ground wire as the power wire. Don't forget about fuses.

You can get a new 1500D here: http://shop.tech12volts.com/product.sc?cat...amp;productId=2

You can get a refurb here: http://www.db-r.com/sell/store2/index.php?...products_id=204

Most people here & other places will tell you that they are overrated.

what about something like this: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12249_JBL+GTO14001.html

  4. Ok, so my car is a 2006 mercury mountaineer premier. Right now I have 1 12" 4 ohm type r with a m650 alpine amp. I have a factory touch screen nav and 4 guage wiring. My car also has factory upgraded speakers

Im looking to upgrade. i want to buy just 1 18" dc lvl 4 with lvl 5 coils and a http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12211_...+BXi+1608D.html or something to power it (feel free to suggest other ideas on amps)

couple of questions : would i need a battery? Would i need to get 0 guage? What is the cubic feet needed for a box? Would a new head unit sound better?

    thanks.
