Don't have a connection at RE. I wish though. A great story revolves around these woofers though. A buddy of mine works at a local audio company that also orders woofers for customers. A customer ordered four RE 18"s in december last year(2007). While being shipped the guy who ordered backed out and gave up his $200 deposit. The shipping truck delivering them apparently wrecked due to snow storm so the company refunded the shop their insurance(I think it was FedEx, but not sure). Two weeks later four FREE 18" RE XXXs arrive at the door. The owner couldn't sell them in the store for whatever reason and could care less about car subwoofers. So he gave them to my friend. Who also has no use for all of them. So, he's saving them in case of hard times. Unless I want one. I told him I'd give him $600 for one a while ago just joking around and he said yeah. So I might be able to get one for less than that. Now, I just need the money. And hell no I'm not telling you the shop or the guys name. This is my steal of a deal.

I should be able to get the 18" XXX for about $600 brand new. I've got a private connection. I have passed up several LMS woofers over the past year, but I can't bring myself to move $800 on a used woofer (especially in college). Not to mention, its really hard to come by LMSs (or any TC) anymore so how am I supposed to get one to match later on? Too bad TC couldn't make it. Their LMS 5400 was the greatest woofer EVER. But thats my opinion. I think I might just get the XXX if I can't land the two 18" Memphis LVS woofers.

I worked with a 12" XXX subwoofer this summer and was really impressed with it (drooled over the excursion). The 12" sounded really good but I have been considering getting an 18" (for now) and plan on puttin up to four in my yukon (when I get it). Who has worked directly with this woofer? I have heard they sound terrible, but one persons opinion can spread like wildfire and that twelve sounded beautiful. So, I want to know how well the sub performs. I DON'T want a FI BTL. I don't care how cheap or loud or great sounding they are. They are EVERYWHERE now(probably for good reason) but I like to be unique somewhat in my systems. And XXXs aren't too often seen. I only run groundpunder setups with no intention of competing so don't worry about peak SPL. I am also not a Sound Quality guy either, not looking for a FI Q or anything like it. How good do they sound? I want some good opinions. Or possible options for different woofers. I love high excursion woofers. No sight better than a wrinkled surround. I have been trying to track down some LMS 5400s or Ultras but I don't ever see them fitting my budget. I have a 12" now but have worked with several 18" lately and I can't believe I haven't had one to begin with. Help me out. Remember...New 18" RE XXX Opinions and options... GO!
