  1. just went to a USAC/Mean Streets hosted comp. this weekend in Austin at the Austin Expo Center. It was sponsered by Audio FX. Didnt plan on compteing just wanted to get a good run on the termlab and see what i'm mic'n with my first BTL. Ended up competeing in SB3 with a single 18" BTL and Super port wars. Placed 1st at the competition with a score of 146.1 db bumpin around 37 hz. and apparently they told me i set a 3rd place record for SB3 for the state of Texas! I was pretty pumped...then tried to see what i could mic in super port wars and mic'd at 162.4 db. I was a little pissed when i saw that after i was done competing my buddy had left the AC on in my car the entire time and i hadn't noticed it. I think i could have scored a little higher...no big deal, got my first 2, 1st place trophies in an SPL competition so i was happy with the win.
  2. yeah im proud of the box. like i said though, i still got diamond plate letters to screw into the back of the box and i still need to put on 2 more quick disconnects so that i can take the batteries out when i need more room for cargo.
  3. yeah, it's like it (this car) was made for this system because the batteries fit unbelievably perfect in that little section when i took those storage compartments out and then the box was pretty much as big as we could possibly build it (so that we could take it in and out and not have to build it inside the car). But it does pound like crazy and my roof has some major flexxxxxxx. Hit's the low's like no body's business. Young buck-shawty wanna ride and Young Jeezy-Welcome Back, i played that today and it was thumpin harder than ever. On the other hand, i have 3 1/2" polished stainless steel diamond plate, for those of you who know what that is, being made right now into letters i am going to be screwing into the top of the box at the top of the flames saying GOT SPL?" I need to hit up the local accurate decibel meter at a car audio store or something around here. I'll put up some vids soon. Oh yeah and HHR Ed, holy moses does that rear window wiper beat!
  4. ^^Just wanted to show the 8 guage Knuknoceptz speaker wire that didn't fit my damn wire terminals!!
  5. Alright....here it is. mahhh project. decided to upload everything all at once. It is a pretty simple design and pretty simple install. Yet the largest and LOUDEST i have ever installed. It :censored: pounds though! A Single fully loaded 18" BTL D2. Audioque 2200D. (2) Werker brand 100 AH AGM battery/power cells.... Box: about 6.75 cubes net ported to 34 huuuuurrtttss, sealed with fiberglass resin , braced with (4) 3/4" ALL THREAD rods for serious bracing; 2 of them welded together, line-x'ed for extra flavor and moral support . I also used fork lift quick power disconnects i bought from McMaster Carr. 1 connects the 2 batteries, 1 is for the power wire and ground together in the same connect going to the amp, and the last quick connect is used on the power wire to the starting battery. Well right now its the starting battery. I have a litttttttlle bit of voltage drop and i am going to run straight of of my alternator instead. When i bought the car, i was in Iraq and had my dad pick it up for me and thought the starting battery was under the hood but it was actually located next to the spare tire. So because of the long power wire going from the alternator ot the starting battery in back, i believe i have a little voltage drop and need to connect to the front to get a little more power. Long story short anyways, the quick connects are useful for the fact that i can take my box in and out of my car whenever i need to for cargo carrying purposes. The flames looked great in my mind but not as cool as they came out on the box. I used a utility knife and cut the stencil out of cardboard for the flames and used high temp spray paint and sealed it with spray laquer so it wouldn't wear off. The 2 greatest parts about this install is that it is the cleanest and krispppyyy and nicest yet loudest sounding car i have ever sat in, as far as my own ride goes. Also that i can still carry passengers and managed to fit all my extra batteries in between the seats and box and still pull off 6.7 cubes net. The other guy you see in the picture is Josh Rawlins (Rawlins87 on SMD) so thanks to Rawlins Subsonic Engineering. and hurrrr are the pics... and yes this is my real licence plate
  6. got nothing here yet. still waiting on (2) black T shirts that say "BTL" on the front and "Fi Car Audio" on the back. A 20" Red Fi Sticker for my back window and (2) 4" Red Fi Stickers....a grand total of $75 that got me nothing..
  7. so it sounds like this........ :censored: guy randomly decides who hes going to satisfy and who hes not, of his customers....hmmmm what a douche
  8. well as i can see some of the SMD members have had excellent experiences, some have good experiences, some have had shitty experiences like me...hopefully he is just slow on business and communication and his word so that i may ACTUALLY get what i paid for nearly a month and a half ago. he just stopped communicating with me and the fact of the matter was that he said, HE ADVERTISED, that he could have my product produced and shipped next day. He didnt say hey give me a week and i can have it or it may take some time to produce but i can do it; he said i could have it done and shipped the next day. i was actually very customer friendly and patient with him till it reached about the 5 weeks mark. If you advertise next day delivery and then take 5 weeks to deliver....something is :censored: up there...am i wrong or am i right?
  9. if you go to general audio and look at the topic I JUST posted, ROBERT 04XBLZ, dont f'in buy shiiiit from him. Read that topic, you'll understand. HE WILL NOT MAKE YOU STICKERS!!!
  10. to all members....near a month ago i put word out i was wanting to purchase some Fi stickers for my windows and i got a heads up from Robert 04XBLZ on SMD. He told me that he could make me exactly what i wanted because he does formatting and can manufacture some simple stickers and t-shirts i asked for. The entire time he seemed legit and told me there was no problem but the first thing he told me when i contacted him was that he could have the product produced and shipped next day. Well that was back in February, late February. For the next few weeks he drug things out saying he was out of color or his product seller didnt have enough supply and that he was sick or some shit. The fact of the matter was i i was an idiot and trused the people on SMD and sent him the money it "supposedly" costed to make my t-shirts and stickers and i to this day have not recieved any product still. He has also blocked me or something so that i can not send him messages and have not recieved any messages back from him. The last thing i heard from this guy was "i will get you tracking numbers tomorrow. I've been kind of sick" about 3-4 weeks ago. THis is heads up to every SMD member, DONT BE AN IDIOT AND SEND MONEY TO A PERSON ON THIS WEBSITE SELLING PRODUCT UNLESS YOU TRUST THEM OR KNOW WHERE THEY LIVE SO THAT YOU CAN PAY THEM A LITTLE VISIT IF THEY DON'T DELIVER!! If you feel me here...help me get him kicked off the website. Thanks. Even better you could just tell me where he lives in Arizona...hahaha just kidding http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/01nocomment8so.gif AND DONT TRUST ROBERT 04XBLZ. Hopefully he hasn't gotten any of you already...
  11. both of them were hilarious, but i lauphed my :censored: ass off when i watched the video of the kid still high after the dentist. Especially when he was like "is this real life?" hahahaha!
  12. ehh, if adding a head unit is a good sound option then i got one in my old car already. I'm gettin rid of the car, i might as well jsut use that. Nothing special, just a plain red and black sony i think with an auxilary input in the front. All i need is for it to play my i-pod and CD's. I don't need nor want anything more than that. It's got plenty of sound adjustment settings.
  13. yeah that deff is baller status. pretty siick though.
  14. Will i get as decent sound quality to the sub still with a facotry radio? Or will getting a head unit just be more economical for bass purposes?
  15. What a coincidence! I'm a BALLER!! : What is a 3sixty.2?
  16. Just bought a 2008 Chevy HHR and i want to keep the factory CD player so it looks like i don't have a lot aftermaket stuff. That way no one will see anything to steal but i'm installing a fully loaded 18" BTL and AQ2200D. Does the factory radio have RCA preouts or will I need to install an aftermarket head unit?
  17. that does look pretty baddass. I like the finish. :censored: plexi glass! that price!? Do you think it affected the sound at all covering the entire interior of the enclosure in that stuff since it's not smooth at all? Oh yeah, did you do it yourself or have it done professionaly at company that does rhino lining?
  18. Troy, i love the way they look too and i bet they can get expenisve at 3/4" or thicker. No doubt. Anyone know how expensive???? I am going for as much SPL as possible with this 1 18". Will i still get decent SPL with an enclosure like this? If not i was still going to use the regular MDF enclosure and paint the box with black Line-X/Rhino liner schtuff. ...Something different i have never seen before and it would be interesting.
  19. Hey, today i thought about how extremely badass an entire plexiglass/lexan transparent subwoofer enclosre may look. When you look in the back of the car, you could see the entire sub and magnet as well as the speaker wires coming out from the sub. It would be pretty coool right? Well any opinions on whether it would be a good material to use or would it be horrible because it may not soak up any of the sound like MDF would? Can I get some opinions?
  20. F*** yeah it's gonna be a pain in the ass. From what i've heard anyways. Had my dad take a look up under her skirt for me while i been over seas and he says its extremely limited. Plus since it's nearly new, got a buncha plastic covers all over it to make it look all pwetttyy. Said he doesn't even see wires, just a plug he believes is the voltage reg. I was considering haveing an uncle who owns a car shop do the install on that for me...not quite sure yet.
  21. welp, already sent out an e-mail to Jeff at DC. Jus waitin on a response. See the problem is, every place ive talked to (and theres a LOT) says that my car is too new and i really started believing them when i saw only up to 2007 vehicles on every page i went to and after i talked to a bunch of auto electrical shops. On the risk part...yeah i'm willing to risk it. Just needa get a little bit more info from this guy at excessive amperage. Gotta make sure it comes with a voltage regulator and it will fit my belt an all.
