  1. bump.

ok correct me if im wrong.

    i have a box H30 W46 D14

    my tune is 32hz

    ok with torres cal.

    PORT

    H4.5 W16.5 L16 with this i get port area of 74.25.

now if i do another port the same size will i get 148.5 port area right???

and have a tune of ~32hz?

    thanks

  2. bump again. sorry/

i didnt want to make a new thread so ill post my qestion here.

    ok here it is.

    i have a port that is W 4.5" H 32.5" L 20" with this i have a tune of 34.4hz

    box is H30 W46 D14

    Question

    - can i do half of each height nd width nd length and with that make two slot ports and have the same tune or will it be different?

    example

    Height 32.5" = 16.25"

    width 4.5" = 2.25

    length 20" = 10"

    thanks

  3. To get the best sound & avoid mounting depth problems, locate the sub as far away away from the port opening...otherwise, like you said, just add a spacer...

this how it should look like

    sorry ghetto paint..

THANKS ALL TO HELP ME! LEARN ALOT.

  4. yea, you'd be ok, as long as it's tuned @34hz....

at the bottom of the carstereo page , you could calculate port length...

34.85hz seems ok, although it's leaning more towards 35hz, especially if you're gonna brace the box & add corner fills...

    sound good.

    yea i understand.

now all that done with i think the sub gonna run into the port since it gonna be L.

but im going to add another baffle over it so it should space it out more.

  5. make your port longer til it hits 34hz or make your port area bigger for 36hz...

146.25 is ok, 146.03 is just your minimum @34hz...

not sure what the negative number could mean...???

just keep playing with it, til it all falls into place...

so if i go bigger then 146.25 im ok right?

yeah im kind of confused abt the negative...anyone else can help with this?

ok i change the length number to 27in cames out the 34.85hz

    thanks.

  6. first jst wanna say big thanks to the people who are helping me out!!!

    qestionsss-1.jpg

    got some qestions.

what in blue. tune i want 34hz but torres cal. say 36hz?

what is in red. very close to port size cal. (146.03) nd torres cal. is (146.25) with this number it is tune to 34hz correct?

one more question i see a ( - negitive number) could this mean bad??? what circle in yellow.

    thanks so much!!!

    -Chris

ps i change the height of box so the port can clear the top part of the sits.

  7. since you're not doing a round or square port, you can ignore the diameter & length for a square vent...

right, you would have to come up with at least 137.44sq.in.(@32hz) of port area to avoid port noise....

    ok sound good.

im play around more with torres cal. nd if i come up with something good ill post it up again. to verify if it correct.

    thanks so much guys.

  8. not to thread jack but why's everyone elses version of this calc have the port bends button? was there an updated version i have to download? anyway back on topic, new design looks much better

i beleve there was an update.

port area is still way too small, use this site to help you figure out your minimum port area for that sub:

    http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31

    ok i done that..

    i get Minimum Diameter 13.23in

    Minimum Area =137.44in

    Length of a side

    for a square vent =11.72in

i am think i have to come up with 137.44ish for the box port area. right??

sorry for so much questions. im learing nd every help will appratade.

  9. sorry for double post.

jst mess around abit more. hope this one look better then the first.
