  1. i am about to install a axis, in a ported inclosure tho. how do u like it?

youll love the sub. Its been great for me. If you wanna have fun with it tune it around 25 and play some chopped and screwed stuff. It wont meter as high that way though.

edit: I usually have mine ported, but it working on fitting both of them in my trunk ported. so i just sealed then up for now

  2. I started running my Sundown 3000 at .5 ohms a little over a week ago, and I figured I'd share my experience with performance in regards to temp of the amp.

Subs: 2 dual 2 ohm audiopulse axis wired down to .5

Electrical: 200 amp alt, one kinetik 1800 under the hood and one kinetik 1800 in the trunk.

Sealed box, 2 cubes per sub, impedence rises over 1 ohm at 18 hz and doesnt drop below 1.1 ohms after that.

Gains on the amp are set with 50volume on the deck as max

Before started I took the temp of the amp it was 62 F

I started playin music on volume 40 for 8 minutes, then I turned it up to 50 for 13 minutes. Total test time 21 mins.

I measured the temp of the amp again:

The side with the power wired was 78.4 F, the side with the rcas was 87.8 F

The A/C wasnt on, outside temp was about 55 F, amp is mounted on a board with nothing above it.

Songs played during the test were:

    Chain hang low

    Paper Planes Remix

    This is why Im hot

    Lollipop Remix

    Watch my shoes

    3 Peat

The subs cone temp were both around 76 F

With this said, I feel comfortable running my Sundown 3000 and .5 ohms daily.

  3. Idunno, either way the build is on hold. I won't be able to jobhunt until end of May because of a play I'm in at school that's taking up my whole life, and no job=no money for MDF and supplies. And first thing's first I want to buy an amp that's closer to the kind of power I want, "350w RMS" bridged to two subs rated at 300 RMS each really is not cutting it for me. Of course, that costs money too...

look for a mono amp. it will have a sub sonic filter

  4. They're only tens, and I'm running next to no power on them. I tried putting "bass for your face" through them once and half the bassline was just nonexistant: the subs moved (quite a bit) but I got no sound in the cab. So for this setup at least, no low low.

that was a sealed box right.

ported will be different, maybe with a lower tuning too. like 35

btw 2 tens it the same cone area as one 15

  5. I had looked elsewhere on the forum where there was a listing of songs and the freq's of their bass lines. I think the lowest I've listened to was "salt shaker" which iirc was 37Hz.

even still that doesnt mean you can rule out a sub sonic filter. If your high pass filter goes down to the 30hz range you can use that filter.

do you have the specs for this ported box?

side note. your missin out on lots of fun if you never listen to under 37 hz. i love playin with tones between 22 and 35 hz

  6. 1- I don't think my POS amp has a subsonic filter. Its a sony "800w" 2-channel

2- My subs' response only goes 10Hz below the port tuning

3- the lowest freq I have actualyl listened to in a song was about 37Hz i believe.

I don't know if these will help at all or not, but i figured the more info the better.

    it probably doesnt.

just because the sub freq range is 31- watever hz doesnt mean it can play below that. its just the usable range.

its also hard to find out what frequency is the lowest you listen to

  7. i know it effects the sub, but i designed his box, so i wasnt really feeling like doing this long drawn out answer BUT since the critics saw it and questioned it, yes, the port effects your subs, the the frequency responce of your subs is such that playing under 40 hz dosent really make sence.

the box is almost perfect for his subs asfar as tuning and Q factor. its not a SPL box but the subs arent too serious, it balences pretty good.

the box you were questioning was probly an SPL box.

no.. its that way for all ported boxes.

im not sure i would trust a design from someone that doesnt know the simplest stuff of boxes

  8. shoulda just pm'd me.... :P

they will be fine. the port dosent really effect the subs one bit.

    yes it does...

You will have less control under the tuning of the box which can cause bottoming out.

So adjust you sub sonic filter to compensate for that. Im not sure on the rule of thumb for tuning and ssf adjustment, but if it were mine id put it around 35 hz

  9. front channels have MB Quarts, and sub out runs to a sony "800w" (*scoff*) amp and two alpine S10s.

I was just curious as to whether or not it would work, doubted it. Ill just take the sonys and sell em or wall socket em or somethin =P

    Thanks guys =]
