  1. I looked and didn't see the email. So forums in the next best thing
  2. Who do I email these days to get in contact with Mechman? I've got a 320 or 350 amp alt for an 04 v6 Grand Cherokee wire external reg. I want to get it recased to go in an 02 v6 Explorer, and see about switching the external reg to just a voltage adjustment knob.
  3. Its not bulged. I use a Kinetik charger. I haven't noticed a smell
  4. I had 3 D3100s laying on their sides sticker side down for about 2 weeks. I pulled them out after finals and one was leaking a black goo from between the gray plastic case and the white top. It at through the fuzz part of the carpet. The battery still rests at 12.9. What is this black goo?
  5. Man, I totally don't want to piss you off, as I really think a lot of you. But I don't think anyone is ever going to be disappointed after buying a DC 5.0K. They are beast amps, and everyone who has ever heard/ owned one will tell you the same thing. Straight beast dude. Don't have to own an AD-1 to know that. Just a 5k. I won't disagree with that, I've seen the 9ks play all day at .33, and the 3.5ks play well with low voltage. But the only thing getting to me is all of the guys getting excited over the 5k almost doing 10k on the dynamic test, and then saying they will get a 10k amp when they buy the DC 5k. I wouldn't tell anyone to not buy the amp after seeing these numbers, but I won't be telling anyone its a 10k amp. I'm actually interested in seeing the 9k and 10k numbers as those are possibilities for an amp next season.
  6. Because I don't tune mine with a DD-1. I tune to clipping with a scope. Uncertified is still clean, It just ignores noise that the certified run does look for. I'm not saying it's a bad thing for some people to know. Its just not the measurement of the 3 that I would look at.
  7. you basically just want to pay attention to the Uncertified numbers, since that is measured how most will tune their amps.Certified it tested until there is 1% distortion, Uncertified ignores distorting and just looks for clipping, Dynamic shouldn't even be thought of as anything of importance. Its how much power is put out over 1/10th of a second blurp from the amp. So its more like that MAX power rating everyone says not to look at. They market it to say the dynamic test is how much power you get on music and the others are tones, but how many songs do most people play that only have bass notes that hit for 1/10th of a second? you are wrong bro. The dynamic test is still RMS. It is not "max", "maxx", or "maxxx". It is not peak. The test does use a pulse rather then a 10 second sine wave but it hits hit fast and hard for about 10 of those "pulses". It mimics the strain on the amp it would see when playing something dynamic....like music. That test is legit and should still not be confused with peak numbers at all. In fact, i have found most amps don't do THAT much higher of a number from non-cert to dynamic burst. Usually it's a little higher, but not much. Due to the different amplifier designs, some amps kick ass in dynamic burst, some only see a small increase. But again, it isn't to be confused with a "if lighting struck it" situation because that is far from the case. I see rms as continuous power, not 1/10th of a second. If you want to believe the dc5k is a 10k amp on music because of that test, ok. But I would doubt any music I play had 1/10 second bass notes. So I will discredit that number when I look at the results. I will also discredit the certified run too, because it's not how I tune my amps. Good for you. What was the point of your post? You just want to say you dont like something because thats not how you do it. What do you use to utne your amp? 0db? -5db? Ear-O-Meter? Just for a little information, the 5k did just over 3000w when tuned with a 0db overlap. You are missing out on alot of power if that is what you are tuning with. ok, go ahead and have every new kid out there thinking the dc5k is a 10k amp and watch them be dissapointed. The point of my post is you really should be smart enough to know that dynamic rms number is not a continuous power output like the guys reading this are going crazy about.

  10. If I had $2k to spend on amps and another grand for the batts I definitely would do NS1s lol the subs will not like it at all.
  11. I've done it!! vids not loading. sorry... I only have a video of my 2 tsns 12s on the ns1s strapped at 1 ohm
  12. People using a lot of power know what they are doing. You should stick to rated until you know more on the subs.
  13. more lies.. the X is 10" to 18" rated at 1250 rms, the Zv4s are 1750rms.
  14. Not really..X is around 1250rms. Zv4 is 1750. Thinking you "need" over 5k to run a Zv4 is just dumb.
  15. You post this without giving any info on the equipment used? I can figure its 4 10s though. maybe sa's
  16. if your sticking with rated power you wont need to worry much about mechanical handling getting in the way with a larger enclosure. Ive throw way over rated power in a 1cube per sa8 box and they take the power well.
  17. i said i will give someone 100 bucks to find me someone to design it. dont worry i dont need to find a designer anymore. look up up at the video in my previous post. now you are the dummy load What are you a 12 year old? and i doubt addictive audio only invested 100 bucks designing that, also that little display still wont do what the AD-1 is doing. besides I have plenty of other things to do when i drive my car that gaze at how much power Im gettin out of my amp.
  18. Why the hell do you want a dash mounted screen for a device thats not intended to stay in your car? and thats also funny that you want a display to show you real time power, voltage, current, and impedence, and want someone to Design and build it for 100 bucks.. this thing isnt even intended to be used to measure reactive loads, its has a bank of dummy loads.
  19. That looks great! I didnt think it would give readouts on the fly like that. Id be interested in this over my Wt3 woofer tester just so I dont have to pull out my computer to find imp curves on boxes.
  20. Ive used both a Mechman 250 or something around that and a DC 270 xp on my 95 honda when I had it. The Mechman slipped a ton and eventually all the tightening to get rid of it broke the belt during a fult tilt music bump while driving down the highway. with the DC I rarely ever heard it slip or saw signs of belt wear from slipping. I think one reason DC has the honda stuff is because they have a guy working there that had a honda so they researched on his car a lot. If you look on the honda its belt wrap is terrible, and the DC alt was just more efficient so it required less friction to get it spinning. Mechman is a great company, and its what I run now in my jeep, the only problems I ever had was with the honda slipping, but thats more hondas fault. Thats most likely why they dont make many big units for them anymore. Also a good belt will help out, gates green stripe is a nice sticky belt Ive got the DC alt forsale too
