  1. well i've finally killed my avalanche 15 and my replacement options are the fi q15 in 3.5 @ 30hz or the q 18 in 4.0 sealed. i don't know which set up would be louder i think the sealed 18 would go deeper and make it easier for me to make the install prettier since it will need less gross volume. any suggestions on which would be louder, go lower have better sq ect?

    y not recone ur avalanche???..

  2. How big is your box what is the tuning on the box and where do you have your subsonic set the box should be around 2 cubic ft tuned to 32 to 35 for daily and your subsonic should be set to 35 onlt time I've seen this happen is when I burp 20k or more it will happen after about 50 or 60 burps lol and for daily I have seen it happen to when the guy was running a 15 in 5 cubes tuned to 40 with the subsonic set to 20 playing chopped and screwed lol if everything is set right then I have no clue then.

1.85 after disp tuned to 32 vent flow un restricted..amp scoped right around half gain..not a bass head13.9 above while music playing big 3...i did not abuse this woofer my lead looks like someone taped a firecracker to it.but i guess shit happens..ill recone than switch some things up i guess...but im noy happy about it... :peepwall:

  3. Yeah the coils still read. I just built a new box for it and was switching when i noticed it. I taped it up pretty good, and it still plays the same as it did on day one. It wasn't necessarily the most polite break in i suppose, but i always slowed down when the dustcap was getting warm. Thank goodness you hooked me up with the extra tinsels! I'm just going to go easy on it after tuning until the competition and see what happens there. The stitching to the spider came off so they must have been slapping. The other side is still secured just fine.

i have had the same uraveling issue with the three xl i have..my 12 is just blown apart and my amps set with a scope and dont beat on it its only 1 k!!!????..looking like there is a lead issue here either to short or something.my lvl 3 15 which i have soldered twice.just broke because the leads to short and when the cones moves it breaks the joint...is this goin to be a recurring issue..i never had this issue with any of the hundreds of woofers i have used?????

  4. Its not a matter of "jumping on the ported and loud is better wagon." Its that these subs are designed for ported applications. If you want a driver that can do sealed, Sundown has the SA series, great sub! Very musical. But the Z v.2 is very musical in ported applications. Mine played everything, so far the only sub besides my TC Sounds TC-3000 that sound awesome in a ported enclosure. I think you should give the Z v.2 in a ported enclosure a chance.

    no....
