So hypothetically if I were to be able to reach the back of the headunit, I understand it should be as straightforward as it was installing where I have it now but I fear that I may possibly have one of those headunits I see on crutchfield.com that only have 1 pair of RCA inputs. If that is what I have, instead of 2 pairs, what would be the diagnosis?

If I remember correctly from some years ago, I think the installer mentioned something about just wiring the 4 channel amp like a 2 channel, which may be the reason why there's only two RCA cables running to it. As for the sub's amp, not sure why but there is, in fact, 2 pairs of RCA inputs on it. It's a Bazooka sub/amp enclosure combo.

I have no idea how to get to the back of my headunit (I tried to stick my head in behind the thing where the pedals are but can't see anything) nor do I know how to pull it out. I thought I could just install the PACs right before the amps in the trunk but the person that installed my setup did a rather confusing installation to me because my speakers' amp is out in the open in the trunk (with only enough connections for 1 PAC) while my subs' amp is built into the back of the box which is behind my rear seats but it has 4 plugs (2 Red/2 Whites) for both PACs and that's where they currently are right now.

I got an okay system with Kicker speakers and a Bazooka dual 10's. Worked nice for about 6 months before I started getting a bad case of alternator noise and then the system started cracking up at mid volumes. I thought I blown the speakers at the same time. After installing two PAC filters, my speakers were crisp and playing ear bleeding volumes again but I noticed the subs sounded really different. It sounded like it could only hit ~65% of its normal power and the low lows (if that makes sense) weren't there anymore. What's going on? In terms of details, I'm a noob at wiring so I just installed the filters between the amps and subs instead of behind the headunit. Secondly, I grounded the filters to each other's ground wires which seemed to actually work. Any help would be great. The treble and mids are killing me even wit them turned down.
