  1. I had a feeling, I havent had a setup in years and the last real Number i pulled back then was a 162.3 Outlaw(i dont think this exists anymore) and a 157.6 " leagal" back then it was 6in from front glass at the side window arch away, you could be the car, but only to hit the volume(no tuning).. Funny thing it was Xtra Cab S10.. but i walled it with 6 12w-1s(old first version) sealed in like 12or14 some odd feet with an ignorant amount(like 350rms each on a 125w woofer) This port game is FUN and FRUSTRATING.. It needed a whole new build in the sealed days, now 10bux of MDF or PVC can change a whole lot... What are you doing to stiffen teh rear wall/window flex, it is way to much in my truck. Or did he mdf stiffen it up enough? if someone stands in the bed and hold sthe glass you can hear/feel the loss when they let go. In my apartments, i really dont want to go full out as of yet, but my plan in the next year or so is 6 12 and 3 amps in a wall, but i gotta have bang NOW as well..lol Notice the cheapo compnents. My lovely neighbor hood limits me to be willing to loose a good setup at any given time.
  2. I have 62 1/8 wide it can go up to 20in deep and 24 tall, im trying to keep it below the rear window as much as possible.. I would appreciate it so much ..Thanks!!!
  3. Ok i get long winded in posts but please try and follow me cuzz im getting rather pissed off.. Box 1. Sealed 5.1ft^3....sounded like shit Box 2. 6.02cf^3 with 3 4in dia ports at 12in long...1 port in top 1 in each end, was loud as hell OUTSIDE the truck/behind the headrests. box 3. Same as above but 3 4in ports in the top at 9in long.... lost all output, way out of Freq. range for these subs im assuming. Im kinda tired of spending all this money so if you have any input please spit it out there. 3 power acoustik FUBAR 12w subs Powerzone 1500.1 Series/Par. for 2.3ohm before bridging. Its in an Extended caab 94 GMC seira. Current Box(port location changed today) And box i have in mind this time around from Exosprts calc(thnx man)
  4. Thanks Guys! I was diagnosed as a Non-Functioning Bi-polar sufferer, shortly after high school, so its been 10yrs or so of hell and ive finally in the last 2 years been properly medicated and my art has improved ten fold. I can actually get all those fuk'd thoughts on skin now..hahahaha I update myspace every week usually so keep an eye on it if ya dig my work. Paul Wall hasnt gotten Tattooed YET, he does have a scheduled(if Bizness allows during trip) apt in June tho with me. My dude City hooked me up with him after they did a show together and he was impressed with my work on City. I have Tattooed George Bushh a pro MMA fighter, all the members of 1st Degree, tons of underground rap artists/DJs/MCs. And again, thx for the props, means alot in this industry.
  5. Instead of asking a question for once, i thought id share what i do for a living. Sorry we only have a myspace at the moment, the real website is still under construction unforntunatly. www.myspace.com/1lungwonder EDIT: I have recently quit working at Invious Ink. I wish the guys up there the best of luck but i just didnt fit in there. Im still available for apointments tho... Im Aaron BTW Ive been tattooing for ruffly 14ys but only the last 5 or 6 in shops doing real work. I have recently had a few pieces shot for Savage and Easyriders mags, so when they get published ill be sure to let yall know!
  6. The way i had originally built the box, ports out the top werent on opion, so it got one in the front and on the ends. Its VERY Loud right at the headrests, but i really dont think it would meter well. I have sunday off and plan to cut more port holes and move the ports around and see what i can come up with. What would be a guesstimation on the meter with 3 Power Acoustik fubar 12w's on a Crunch 1500.1@1ohm. My S10 of about 8yrs ago was doing 152.3's consistantly, and this i swear is just as loud.
  7. X2, I did this this week on my sub box. The inner corners where tight after resin, then filler and woops, they dont fit...lol, Dremel fixed it in about 2hrs.Lol... I need tools!!!
  8. I did all the body work on the box the last 2 days since i was off work, got it ready to paint and changed my mind, so since i bought the Wally-world outa spray glue earlier tonight, ill have to stop with it half Vinyled.. This was the first and LAST fiberglass enclosure i ever build i do know that. Although i wouldnt do the same mistakes on another Go-round, its still way to much work for a daily-setup. Heres a link to the photobucket with the updated pics.. Im the bald one with the tattoos and glasses.. http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o317/AFowler_420/
  9. Thats wild.. What about a Cone shape, almost exactly like a big orange construction cone. You could change the size of the hole "port" to create differnt pressures like a garden hose nozzle.. maybe...
  10. My box build is over here, http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...showtopic=42499 but before i cut the port holes i wanted to get a opinion. My subs will face up/forward obviously, but do i put all 3 ports in the front of the box firing toward the seats, or 1 on each end facing the sides and one forward to the seat. Thanks for any input, im new to the ported box thing totally.
  11. So next time ill use longer staples.. cuzz the pulled out when the resin started curing around the middle hole so i had to do a little repair but its fully resined and sitting to dry till 10pm or later sat when i get out of work. How well do the ends of a round port did braced inside BTW? if anyone cares to share, Ive got 3 pieces of 1x3 i was going to use as a stilt from the box bottom to the port.
  12. Ive always ran JL subs, my new ones are the first out of the Brand, and i always put em in Sealed enclosures. But i also had a set up worth talking about since the first version of the w-1 came out..lol Good luck, i know this is the first ported box ive ever built and its been a bitch
  13. Thanks, once i had some sleep and thought with a clear head, it made alot more sense, that and the car stereo calculator. Ill be under 6cubes with 4 so im going with 3 4x12.6 ports. Got the first coat of Resin on it and its drying now. Once it gets hard, im going to take the bottom of the box off and do the mat/resin layers inside to build the thickness and to glass in the bracing. I used Fleece to do the wraping, and it sucks up the resin for a good solid outer wall. Does 5/16 sound thick enough?? I have 2 gallons of resin i planned on using so i shouldnt have a problem getting it that thick. BTW your CAD boxes are sick ...I Tattoo for a living so all my drawing is done the Ol' fashion way. And thanks again.
  14. I did some serious thinking and remeasured and i really need to Stick with the original plan with my 40in wide 5.18 base box and the Glass top/Baffle. Im figuring up the volume now and will post the final number, but i thought i would post pics of what i have so far. I have a few more braces to put in but the wife is sleeping, but i will figure them into my final volume, and put them in after work . I hope somone can offer some input into a port length/size for me, because i am absolutely frustrated with the math. Im going to Guestimate about 6.5cubes after displacement, and the 2 PVC are 4in, or should i take them back and go with a slot? *6.05ft^3 after braces, sub displacment.*
  15. Ok, i did a little more searching, and maybe my first idea isnt the way to go. I have ruffly a 62widex18.5(h1)x 15.5(hgt2)x17deep area to get the box the 1500.1, a crunch2250 for mids/highs, and other stuff like a Cap and possibly an extra Batt. I thought i can get the most useful room doing the fiber glass. I am open to any and all ideas at this point.
  16. Could you Point me in a correct direction. One calc i used gives a 47.68area adn the other gave me 56.14. what i did was 4*5.96( the length put out on the calc.)and got 23.86*2 ports is where i got my 47.68 figure.
  17. Hows it going all?? Great forum here and i have used it many times in my reaserch so i thought i would finally register. The last set-up I ran was 12 12w-1 Jls( the first version) in a 14cube sealed box with an old Pheinox gold amp that was rated at 100x2 but was stable down to .5ohms if my old ass remembers correctly.I really cant remember the model. Point being, its been a LONG frigin time since ive done an install. I have had a very tight budget doing my set up but i have aquried Crunch Powerzone 1500.1 mono 3) 4ohm DVC Power acoustik Fubar-12w's 4Ga run/ Alt Wire upped to 4ga as well. 250amp Memphis Breaker Memphis Rca's(I HATE cheapo RCAs)so i prolly pade way to much for em.. My Head's sub out isnt a mono out so i also got a Y-adapter as called for. I have ruffly 350 dollars in My equipment(not counting wiring) So i am NOT expecting to go hit mid 150s but i want a loud clean street setup tuned at ruffly 32-35hz. I put a pair of the old W-1 in a premade sealed box and ran a few Sine sweeps moving the box around facing different directions in the Extended cab of my 94 GMC Siearra. To my ear the 30-35hz range hurt the most. This is how i have come to the 33ish Hz range. I listen to alot of Old Rap and Classic rock soi still want the punch and crisp sound in the higher Freq. Ranges but i do want to Lump it when wanted.. I have Decided on a 7cf Enclosure with 2 4" ports. My delima is, i have never built a ported enclosure and all this math shit is really confusing. I have the base Enclosure Buuilt and clocks in at 5.181cubes. Im going to Ring & Glass the top. The top of the Box is set at exactly 12* angle. With the angle i want tplace the subs I will gain the extra 2cf if i follow my math very closly. In the Extended Cab of my truck my Question(s) are this. Can someone please Help me on the ports. I have thought of doing a subb up/port up, a sub up/port foward at bottom of box, and also a long Slot Port across the front of the box fire under the seats toward the front floor. I have used the calculators found on numerous websites like the12v.com and carstereo help.com. I keep coming up with 2 ports at 4x5.96in. If im doing the math right ill end up with 7cubes and 47.68in of port area. RIGHT???? or am i way off here. And my second is teh orientation i will get the most output for power/subs im using. I have purchased a 4x24 piece of 1/4in PVC to use as my ports. WHAT DIRECTION should i go with the ports.. I would really appreciate any and all suggestions because i have been racking my Bi-Polar brain for 4 nights trying to search for answers. I hope ive giving enough info for some pointers.. Thanx Again Aaron
