  1. Thats gotta be the longest 4 weeks of my life! I scoured all over the place and finally sourced a transmission for the truck and got it going this morning.197.989 miles on the original trans..ya i cant be pissed. So to celebrate the occasion i had to roll down the usual crowded street beatin ballz, made my day that much better! and i got 2 spereate *thumbs up* for bystanders..lol

God i missed my truck, not just the beats, but now i can leave the damn house again!! haha

  2. I should be really pissed, but im not, so either my meds are working really well or, i just dont GAF anymore..

Transmission goes out in the truck. Im no sloutch when it come to mechanics ok, but i will admit, i know nothing about mid 90 GM trucks other than a body drop on a 97 s10 and changing the fuel pump on my ol 95 jimmy, so i had to do some reaserching on the net and made a few calls.. According to my VIN number i needed a regular 4l60/700r transmission and convertor. ok no prob, sourced one here localy. Did a Tattoo for it. I would have charged over 300 for the tattoo work i did so you can say i gave 300 for the tranny. Excellent condition used transmission that had reciepts on the rebuild from about 35k ago. Sweet, had the truck towed to a buds garage( i live in apts) and get to the fun and glamourous job of yanking the trans..

The replacement is for my truck, VIN proves that, but it doesnt help when a previous owner has changed the drivetrain and i wasnt informed by the dealer i purchased it from..SSSOOO I need a 1993 or 94 ONLY 4L60E and converter. Guess what, not one in a yard within 80 miles, and craigslist has failed miserably as well.. I can find a shit ton of the tranny i have that doesnt work(92 4l60) and of the 95& up 4L60E's..not a one 93 or 94..

    Bob Mcdormans Chevrelet Service department...

    "still there"

    me: ya, am i screwed?

"92 and lower are interchangable, your lucky enough to have a 93 or 94 which are there own version, so the 95 & ups wont work either..."short pause "so ya, man your kinda screwed"

    me: Aint this a bitch...

" Anything else i can ruin your day with bud?"

    me: nope that'll do it..

Im out 300 on the tranny i have, my truck is torn apart in a buddies garage with his wife not happy about parking in the driveway, and i can not source what i need any where close in my budget or trade i can do..

On top of all that, my little sister is marrying a real fuckin winner tomorrow :shot:

  3. Have you tried the chevy/gmc forums, I know my friend did the same thing and it helped. If all else fails, talk to a transmission shop and see what they would recommend. I wll ask my friend how he did it.

I havent tried any of those forums, i dont belong to any other ones but SMD. I called one shop and they said it was possible, but it wouldnt benifet them to tell me how to do it, and hung up.. sooo i dont think im gonna waste time with the other 2 in teh area.

    Thanks, hope your buddy remembers,,haha

  4. Ok so i got a 94 sierra, the newer version case before it went to a 3-piece case. It has the electronic speedometer. the tranny i have to replace it with is a <88 trans, with a cable tailshaft housing. From what i read, if the replacement has 2 holes in the tailshaft, i can put the reluctor from my bad tranny on the shaft and use my old housing to hold the VSS like the old tranny was..

I pulled the tail housing off the replacement and it does have the 2 holes in the shaft under the speedo gear.

My question is, have any of you done this?? i dont have a tach so i kinda need my speedo to work, and i really dont have any desire to have to run a cable, and new cluster..

I did a tattoo for this transmission so i cant really return it...although removing it with a DA will be fun if this shit is bad...i was told it had 85-89k on it when they pulled it . I did the trade with a buddy so i know he would purposly fuck me, but i need someone who has done the tailhousing swap to chime in if im missing something!

    Thanks ahead of time.

  5. OK, just wanted to repost in here instead of making another thread. Being that I passed this test 2 weeks ago, i've been all over the ATL area and north looking for and applying for EMT I/ Advanced positions, and it looks like I found a job! YAAH!!!!! Searching the net for local ambulance houses next to my area, I found a company that says to apply only in person. I did the 3 SSS's real quick and drove me happy ass over there, and sure as shit, I got an interview on the spot. Went rather well, and was called in for a 2nd interview. This was last week BTW. During the second interview I filled out my W4 forms, uniform forms, shoe size etc..... I guess they wanted me! I just got a call now for me to report @ station#1 for orientation this friday @ 10am.... Looks like the medical field should end up being pretty stable for me, if I was able to land a job with in 2 weeks in this type of economy! Thanks everyone for your on going support.............SMD members are the best on the netzzzzz.

    CONGRATS!!!!!

I know you had been busting ass to pass this sucker, and it looks like the hw has payed off! Make that paperz son!!

  6. HOLY GOD! That is amazing!

    Glad nobody got hurt.

thats a nice show there man :good:

Thanks, the "oops" looks alot worse on the video. By the time the big boom happen we were all a good 100yrds away. You gotta keep a few people sober to do sumthin like that, just incase of a situation like we had..No-one got so much as a burnt finger because we were sober and planned out everything we could in advance.

  7. The interior in the f150 is so much nicer than the avalanche, and thats the only thing driving me toward the ford. Aircooled/heated seats, power rear window, alot of little things the chevy doesn't have.

Hmm summertime nut coolers is a tuff one to pass up...

I just prefer the looks of Chevs, and especially if you plan to do aftermarket stuff, it seems there is alot better looking stuff out for the chevs.

I guess what i would do in your spot is do a lame ass written Pros-Cons list.. It might make your choice easier when you can see side by side what you really want out of your new ride, and future upgrades/plans for it...
