OK so I haven't been to an SPL sho since 1998 and I have no idea how loud any of my cars have ben. The car I had then was doing 129 or so and all my cars since then have been progressively louder. I am going to go to the show in Van Nuys on July 18th but I don't even know what class to be in. Right now I am running the following:
Zapco 9.0 to 2 MTX 9500's ported firing up into the rear deck and ported up- the deck has been blown open and is not completely sealed but very close.
Zapco 4.0 th Focal 3 way setup
Pioneer head
Zapco EQ for 16v out
I have nasty window flex on my back window, all doors shake and flex some and my windshield has a little flex. My deck dances and with the windows down I don't have anything close to a :hairtrick: , maybe a slight breeze! I can't listen to a song at full tilt without a noticeable hearing change (like being in the club for an hour) Any ideas? I know its not nearly enough to go on but any idea at all?

No pix but in the Benz I have broken.....
Cover on the roof mounted switches
Rear lighting mount
Rear view mirror
Rear sunshade mechanism
Entire parking assist system (apparently it works off radio frequency and that does not like bass, who knew)
I just stopped fixing shit

I did 9.5 cubes after displacement on 2 BTL 18s with around 8kw on them they were fine.
NICE! what did you have it tuned too?
Smaller box typically means more power. 4k watts is a lot, even for the BTL, so they needed a smaller box. But it is risky for a non expert box builder to put them in that small of an enclosure. You know what your doing, your a sub-ninjaSub Ninja, that's funny as hell!!!!!!!

Well I guess then I am going to have to do a shit load of fab work then that I was trying to avoid. It's gonna cost about 5 grand but I want the damn 18's in there and if I completely redesign the trunk hinges and do a custom fiberglass and wood enclosure I can squeeze out over 10 cubes and then fill it with polyfill and get the level of bass I'm looking for. Anyone know if with the right amount of power (full rated RMS is what I'm planning) I can get a hairtrick with just 2 18's?
-
what 5-6cubes per or for both....b/c that WAY to small for two.yeah way to small for 2, but perfect for 1 if your feeding them good juice (power)
Nope, for both. What does anyone think is the minimum for 2? I do mean absolute minimum. If I redo the trunk mount and go with a fiberglass box to fit the contours of the trunk I could possibly get up to 7.5 total for both after displacement which is only off by 25% of the recommended volume. Maybe fill the shit out of it with polyfill. Anyone else?!?!?!?!

Sooooo I am preparing to place my order for 2 fully loaded BTL 18's and I was measuring out my available space. This led me to an interesting problem, I realized that I have 5 MAYBE 6 cubes to work with after displacement (internal volume). I know that polyfill will work to some degree but I mean really is this even possible without sounding like shit!?!? It will be a "wall" completely sealed from the trunk and I have not purchased an amp yet so I am open but I really want to use the 2 18's.
Anyone got any bright ideas!?!?! I need :hairtrick: !!!!!!!!!!!!!

but that wouldn't mean your comps would get more power, just that your amp is putting out more power and the "accumatch" would be using the power if it lowered the ohm load. The only time I would see that being useful if the speaker's ohm load was too low for the amp, and that "accumatch" would cause a rise in the ohm load saving your amp from sure distruction.
You may very well be right but they advertised it as getting more power to the woofer. The post just made me remember it but if they don't sell it anymore maybe that's why!

.92cuft is very small. thats the recommended space for 1 10" normally.
The only way it would work is if it was a true solobaric design I guess in that amount of space.
-
polk used to be 3ohm so did Orion Cobalt series the will get more power from the same amp
Stinger Electronics used to make a device called the Accumatch that lowered the ohm load your amp "sees" I can find used ones online but it does not appear that they make it anymore. I think it was juyst a fancy box with different level capacitors or resistors in it to reduce ohm load. Hope that helps!!!

There is a setting on all ipods/itunes that adjusts the volume level on the MP3 because of the difference in quality. If your not careful you can select to increase the level of ALL your music and this would definately make the ipod louder. Maybe it was adjusted and you didnt know? It is under File/get info/options. Just my .02.

I have a clipping question I hope someone can help me with. I don't have an O scope YET.......but I replaced my 2 Xtant 1001d's with 1 Zapco 9.0 that has a clipping and "pre clipping" sensor. My question is has anyone used this and checked it with an O scope to see if it is accurate? Both my Zapco 4.0 and 9.0 have it and I set the amps to not clip at all. It's already much louder and I am happy but I want to make sure I am not doing any more damage (Like a dork before I found this website I had gains up, bass up everything up up up!)
Thanks!!

Yes. or you can strap some amps.
The website says they are 2000 RMS, I got a Zapco 9.0 sitting around right now that can do that! What's the real power needs of this thing? I want the max performance out of it without killing it. Again not a daily but when I do run it it will be for demos and weekend cruises and getting beaten!
-
You will be far better off using 2 or 4 smaller amps over the big one.
I know all too well about the Maxximus amps. I would look at something else.
Can the Fi's be bi-amped?
-
lets review shall we?
not trying to be a dick, but im saying there is a high probability that you will smoke that amp and waste 4 digit $ numbers.
No offense taken, its why I came to THIS forum. The original idea was the Maxx with 2 SoloX 18's. Not a daily, barely a weekly driver but I will Slump it every chance I get. I have usually run 2-3kw systems so this is a new venture but I only know how to go big. I want all the advise possible FIRST before I move forward. I don't have to use that amp and I'm getting a lot of positive info on the Fi's so they are a possibility. What would YOU use to run 2 Fi 18's. Wish list really, I got room for 4 alternators if it's called for in the engine bay and I can fit 4 more batteries even the size of the Kinetik. So what do you say? Money is burning a hole in my pocket and my daily's 2500 watts is just no doing it for me anymore..... :hairtrick:
-
you can series the kinetiks, but how the hell are you charging 72 volts? external charger of some sort i'm assuming?
and yes, with that amp you're going to need something beefier than those little batcaps, i'd really run like 4 2400's for an amp that big...and lots of 0g...and another alt...10kw aint a joke, and that amp needs a boatload of current at good voltage to keep it working
There is a thing for hydraulics called a street charger that can charge up to 72 volts from the alternator on a trickle charge. Works fairly well if you don't hit switches all day
If you are gonna be adding more batterys, I would recommend getting a H.O. Alternator first, cause the adding another battery will put an extra load on the alternator to charge, and stock alternators are not really designed to charge two batteries, so it will cut down your alt life alot.So before getting a massive system, I would upgrade in this order.
*New battery upfront(XS Power,Kinetik,etc...)
*Big 3 upgrade(0Gauge)
*H.O. Alt(200 and up depending on application)
*Extra batterys in trunk
After you get those things then you are ready for a 2000rms+++ system, and you wont have to worry about anything failing.
Then you will be off to doing :hairtrick: :hairtrick: :hairtrick:
Battery-Done
Big 3-Done
HO alt-Done but I will need more than 200
Extra batteries-I have 12 but for the hydraulics
Already ran 2000+ not enough.
I have pulled everything out of the car to get ready for this and I was planning on using Solo X's but have heard multiple times they are not loud compared to others. The Maxximus was to run the Solo X's but I can change that now since I won't be running the Kickers. I'm trying to finalize my design so I can purchase the rest of my equipment but it looks like I will need a new amp choice. Maybe Sampson or Goliath? Other ideas?
Keep it coming guys!

Your volts are going to drop like a stiffy at a fat chick convention..
Look in too upgradeing your batteries..
Kinetik hc2400s are my choice.
And id go DC level 5s
Thanks, appreciate it. Should I still use 4? The car already has 12 batteries for the hydraulic system so space is tight, if I need it or it will affect performance then no problem, just don't want more than I need. Also can the Kinetiks be used at higher voltage? I'd rather have all the same batteries but I run 72 volts per bank for the hydraulics might as well upgrade if they work.

GL when your amp goes up in smoke. :01nocomment8so: :01nocomment8so:
Nice, comments without advice. Care to elaborate obiwan?

Looking for the absolute loudest speakers I can get. Will be run with a Maxxuimus, 4 Batcap 800's and a 200amp alt. What are the absolute loudest 18's I can get and cost. Heard that a lot in here like the Fi's but what do you think. The goal is 150db groundpounder. I know it will be easier with 4 12's but the 18's are just so hood! can it be done, what speakers will get me there?
