  2. I do enjoy a good conspiracy :D so here is one for you......the "swine Flu" has been touted as a "new" flu. Hmmmmm so when this is all breaking out on the news my wife happened to be watching the medicine man (movie with Sean Connery about a cancer cure) and he is arguing with some lady about not coming to the island without vaccination. Why? Well because the last scientist who did killed the whole village with an old strain of influenza...guess which strain, Swine flu........ :01nocomment8so:

  3. talk to chris, he'll do you right.

give him a couple of hours and he will get back at you.

Yeah, I had emailed them before Thanksgiving but I waited until Monday because I knew thew were most likely busy.

He's BUSY at the moment. I think he's pretty much swamped just with looking after manufacturers right now.

Yeah he emailed me and said put it through the system. I actually did that too just to make sure but now i can't find my ticket #!!!!! AAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

  4. I wouldnt mess with this amp, unless you know what you are doing........It is much easier to send it to someone that knows how to fix it and does the job right the first time. I would highly suggest Chris at [email protected] he is the man when it comes to fixing amps. Just my $.02

Emailed him personally and went to the website to start a ticket. No responce so far. Anyone else?

  5. OK so I have a Zapco 3.0 that WAS in my car for the last few years. Everything was fine and I had it "professionally" installed because I just didn't want to deal with it at the time since I was so busy at work etc. So here is what happened.

At first the amp would have the right side cut out at low volume, if I turn it up (over 50% max volume) then both channels work fine. At the time I though a loose wire (Zapco uses simblink so no RCA's) or a bad wire. Since I had 2 Zapcos I switched the wires but the amp still acted crazy so def. not the wires. After a few more weeks then the other side goes out, this time the right side works and the left does not. So I pulled the amp and noticed right away a problem, the amp is screwed in with 2 screw THROUGH the spare tire well and the screws are rusted. No grommets or anything. Now I'm suspicious and pulled the amp apart and inside (no pics, forgot to shoot when it was apart and the thing is a BITCH to take apart) there are some rust colored "drips" throught the board. It looks like condensation got into the amp through the little mounting hole.

So my question is can this be repaired? Is there a substance used for cleaning boards on amps that wont damage the electrical? I can scrape them off with my nail gently but there are quite a few. None of the board or anything else looks fried and no smells or anything that I can see. Everything else seems to work OK and it seems that the little rust stains are basically blocking the signal hence the working when the volume (signal) is turned up. I'm def. not a tech. so anyone who does this can you tell me what I can do? I need this amp now to run 4 8's in my doors and I don't want to buy a new one!

If pics are an absolute must I can get them but like I said it's a bitch!!!

  6. Yeah recommended box size is often made of suck and fail.

5 cubes total, common chamber assuming they're running off the same amp.

Yup, It's a Zapco 9.0. Any ideas on port size? The box will be facing up through the rear deck. The whole thing is cut open and will be woofer port woofer.

  7. i would try the one mtx recomends like the one at the bottom of the spec sheet

That is basically what it is in right now and it maxes out in the low 130's. Rec. box size sucks ass!

I just plugged the numbers into the RE box calculator and it says I'm tuned to 49hz in the currernt box, no wonder is sounds like crap! So anyone else have any help other than try and try again? I'll try the 5 cu ft enclosure unless someone else has a better idea.

  8. OK so like the title says I keep getting the crap shocked out of me with my cars. For some reason EVERY car I have ever had a system in starts zapping the hell out of me and it's frustrating to no end. Anyone else ever have this problem and or know how to fix it? It's been too many cars to count and every type of make you can imagine. American, Asian, European, Cars, trucks, I just don't get it. Anyone got any advise?

  9. It looks like you could move the ducts down to the lowest part of the opening and have the screen at the top. You'll have to abandon the gagues but who cares! It seems that would be the easiest, with that being said it doesn't look super easy! Keep in mind too whatever glue or adhesive used on the ducts will have to be high temp so you don't hotbox a buch of glue fumes in the winter.....I mean unless :drinks: thats your thing!

  10. I have done alot of reading on this subject and asked a shit ton of questions to alot of people before we built my box. (Thanks Chris) Here is a couple of pics of it. We used a basic rectangle box with a angled front that follows the angle of the back seat. This allows me to put the seat back in and still be able to play that BOOM BOOM POW... :spiteful: We cut out the big section of the bottom to allow us to fiber glass the tub into the box to add additional volume to the box and still have room for all the equipment in the trunk. Both 15's and the port are forward, with port on driver side. we ended up with about 7.75 cubes after displacment and tuned to about 31-33.. We have added additional braceing so tuning has changed a bit. I would highly recommend sealing off the trunk. Best 10 dollars I have spent on the whole build. ( exspanding foam FTW)

I personnally have not had any issues, in fact right out the gate we got a 149.4 (not offical) back it up in comp with a 149.2.

Thanks man, your box was the one that gave me the idea! Mine will basically be a similar idea just bigger :hairtrick:

Looks promising so I'm gonna start as soon as I get this bodywork done.
